Costa Blanca Guide To Weather

By Ager Sovson

If there is one thing that can be said about the Costa Blanca weather, it has the healthiest climate all over the world with its mild and dry weather, according to the World Health Organization. Situated in the southern region of Alicante, it enjoys about three hundred days of sunshine each year and is one of the driest areas in Spain. With its mild winter temperatures and abundant sunlight, this is a virtual paradise on earth and one of the must-see places in the world.

During winter, the average temperature ranges from 8 degrees Celsius (45 Fahrenheit) and is still fairly suitable for outdoor activities, while people in the warmer areas find comfort on the beaches, hence, making this place a more homely ground for relaxation and fun compared to other areas in Europe.

A number of retirees from Scandinavia, the UK, Switzerland and Austria who are relocating to Costa Blanca continue to escalate only for one main reason and that is the delightful winter climate which is so much warmer than in their home countries.

In the springtime, the temperature fluctuates from 20 to 27 degrees Celsius during daytime and night temperatures are between 16 and 20 degrees Celsius. At times, weather in the spring can be rainy but there is no much rain as in autumn and is not as dry as the summer or winter.

Almond blossoms, in which this region derived its name due to its abundance, are in bloom during springtime. Making the spring more vibrant, these white almond blossoms are the origin of the region's name Costa Blanca or the white coast, contrary to what many people believed that it obtained its name from the white beaches stretching in grandeur throughout the region.

Summer is the perfect time to enjoy in Costa Blanca. With its dry climate during summer that sizzles at 32 degrees Celsius (90 Fahrenheit) which drops slightly in the evening without getting cold and with a slight rain, the weather is practically ideal for outdoor activities as any can go on frisking on the scenic beaches which extend in miles. You can surely realize a home you fancy wonderful as every summer day is a perfect beach day.

During autumn, Costa Blanca and most areas along the Mediterranean Coast generally encounter heavy rains and active weather fronts which may result to adverse flooding particularly in the month of November. There are two sources of autumn rainfall in this region. First is the cold air from the north that reaches the higher temperature of the Mediterranean Sea and second, is the cross of Atlantic airflow, which gets stronger in autumn.

When you are dreaming for a perfect vacation to this region, take time to consider the weather conditions in various seasons. Weather forecasts are readily available in the internet especially through several travel websites and worldwide weather sites. Also, local newspapers are a good source of weather information and some local papers are available on the internet for easy reading in which few are translated into English for non-Spanish speaking tourists. Archived papers are also rich sources of weather-related information at various times of the year.
