Developing Your Crafting Skills

By Rick Amorey

A lot of people seem to think that talent is an inborn capability. If you are not good with something, then you will never have a chance to succeed in that particular endeavor. This is simply preposterous. No one starts out as a natural Da Vinci! While inborn skill may contribute to it, practice is the most important of the deciding factors.

So if you want to hone your skills, practice constantly. And don't get irked if your work doesn't come out as good as you'd initially wanted it. An artist that I've had the pleasure to work with once told me before, "Remember, Rick, the image that you have in your head will always be better than the object you craft." These are very wise words. So don't be put down by your first efforts.

Even if you have all the time in the world to hone your skills, however, it won't be worth a thing if you don't learn anything from your mistakes. Show your work to others, and submit yourself to harsh criticism if need be. I can say for sure that after this harsh trial, you will know exactly what to do to make your works that much better.

It would help if you can pick up a book or two that talks about how to do your craft. Do not scoff these valuables treasures off as a repository of things that you already know; even the most basic ones will have nifty tricks that you may not have heard of before. Be a bookworm for a bit, and advance your skills to a new level!

When the time comes that you are finally confident with how good your crafting skills have become, then it is time for you to explore craft shows. Begin with the smaller, non-juried ones; these will help you get on your "booth-legs". After you get comfortable with these, you can step up to the more intense and competitive juried craft shows.

Try your Luck at the Great Gulfcoast Arts Festival

By Rick Amorey

The Great Gulfcoast Arts Festival is one of the many juried craft shows out there, but it is one event that I personally help at organizing. Every year, we receive more than six hundred aspiring applications for a spot in the festival. These craftspeople are then required to submit three slides of their pieces, along with one slide of their area.

Once all applicants have submitted these requirements, our qualified jurors are shown every artist's slides simultaneously and without knowing the names of the artist. They will then choose the lucky 200 who will be accepted to the exhibit proper. There will be various awards, such as Best of Show, Awards of Distinction, Excellence, Merit, and Honor. In the interest sustaining familiar faces, the winners from the immediately preceding year will be exempt from the jurying selection.

There are a variety of categories in which the craftsperson can compete. These include the field of ceramics, drawing, fiber, leather, glass, jewelry, mixed media, oil paintings, photography, graphics design, sculpture, watercolor, and woodworking. Collectively, the price total to be given away amounts to $25,000.

It is my great pleasure to announce that the Great Gulfcoast Arts Festival is one of the top fifty Fine Arts Shows that are held in the United States, according to Sunshine Artist Magazine. We continue to strive for excellence with this prestigious honor and we promise to give you the best event that is within our power.

Are you a student of the arts? Are you willing to try your skills against the best of the them? If so, then go apply for the juried Great Gulfcoast Arts Festival! If you have already tried and failed in the past, don't despair! You should've made improvements on your work by now, and your chances are much bigger than before!

New York and Hatch Food Festivals

By Ian Kleine

Early on, we had the fruits of summer, peach and strawberries; but this time, let's have a look at a festival for one of the western old-time favorites: buffalo wings! In Buffalo, New York, the festival is nothing but pure consumption of these hot, spicy chicken treats.

By which according to last year's statistics, almost 27 tons of chicken wings and sauce was consumed in the festival alone. Hoping that the town would break the record this year, they are inviting you, tourists, to join in the festivities. There's an admission fee of five dollars per each adult though (what? You'd think it was free?)

And speaking of hot and spicy, get this, a festival for chile! No, not con carne, but chile itself. Welcome to the Hatch Chile Festival which is held every September 5-6 (or at least a weekend, as far as I know). This tiny town of Hatch in New Mexico is practically a miner's town for the rest of the season, but when the festival times, it reaches up to more than two to three thousand who attends.

The hot desert surrounding the area complements the cuisine, as you are expected to eat a lot of these spicy winger-dingers. If spicy isn't your kind of thing, the scenery could make it up for you. You have a lot of places to visit while your friends dig in the festival.

Well, if seafood is your main squeeze, then have a go at Rockland Maine for their annual Maine Lobster Festival, held during July 29th to August 2nd. It is a lobster-lover's heaven when its festival time, which an estimated twenty thousand pounds of lobster shelled out and eaten during these five days of shellfish, lemon butter, the sea breeze and the good people of Maine. The venue is cool (beside the water), and is one New England summer festival you shouldn't miss. Eight dollars per adult for admission.

California Gastro

By Ian Kleine

The food in California has but one theme, due to the diverse races and the number of people passing by and staying in California. That theme is, fusion.

Fusion cooking integrates different styles and different forms of cooking which span around the world, using California-native ingredients. This defeats the barrier of substitution. Presentation and over all 'oomph' is important to California cuisine. Same goes for innovation and for over all taste.

The restaurant credited for starting California cuisine would be the Chez Panisse, by co-founder Alice Waters. The restaurant is found in Berkeley, California. Story dictates that Water visited south of France and had discovered the joy of cooking using fresh herbs, vegetables and oils. Her taste for what good food was cemented in this belief that the road restaurants served a better sense than those of the predictable menus of high-class Parisian restaurants.

She was a chef, and with her aspirations and dreams of steeling a cooking style that would cater to the taste buds of a demanding customer demographic whose demands are good food, fast service, and fresh, garden-fresh, ingredients. The garden-fresh criteria might be too much, but market-fresh and farm fresh certainly do fit the bill.

The restaurant was credited in making some of the more staple foods in most restaurants today. One example is the California-style pizza or the 'gourmet pizza' as they call it. California pizza uses non-traditional toppings taken from other cuisine styles, like artichokes, infused olive oils and peanut butter. The usual California pizza might have barbecue bits; curry sauce, oven-baked sunny-side up eggs, goat cheese, spinach, herbs and carne asada. It's actually more like a buffet pizza than a typical-put-everything-here pizza.

They also created the original Goat Cheese Salad and carbonated tap-water, a good alternative to soft drinks and soda.

Artists of Hawaii 2009

By Mara Hernandez-Capili

This year will mark the first installment of the biennial Artists of Hawaii 2009. A guest curator will be featured this year who is none other than Laura Hoptman, the senior curator for the New York Museum of Contemporary Art. The event is something that Hawaii residents all look forward to in attending because it will mark again the celebration of the locals' talents and unique taste of the Arts.

To avoid confusion on what I am about to discuss to you now let me first give you the difference between Modern, Post modern and Contemporary Art as these are three subjects that are oftentimes misused. Contemporary Art depicts the art of the Modern times, it is often confused by Post modern because some claim that we actually live in the Post Modern era already and that any art that comes out during these times should be called as "Post Modern".

Post modern art is described as the combination of the different Art Styles during the Modern era and these styles includes: Art Nouveau and Art Deco among many others. Post Modern style is always a mixture of two or more style era. Modern Art is described as Art that emerged after the renaissance Period or the Period of "rebirth". It is oftentimes categorized as the Art created during the 18th to early 19th century. Contemporary Art is used to describe the current trend of Styles during the ongoing era. The term contemporary does not come into existence until the half of 19th century (1950's) onwards.

Contemporary Hawaiian artists all gather at the Artists Guild to celebrate their talents by showing their creations to spectators and enthusiasts. Paintings are mostly on display on this exhibit. Expect young and talented artists churning out their fresh minds to create great pieces.

Come and visit the Artists of Hawaii 2009!

Warren County Farmers Market McMinnville, Tennessee

By Mara Hernandez-Capili

I personally love going to Farmers Market. Farmers markets are places where I can buy cheap and safe vegetables, produce for my families' needs. They are basically organized and manned by farmers and farm owners. These persons sell their cultivated goods for much lower prices than their commercial or grocery counterparts. It is because farmers do not pay for steep rental fees or space lots at farmers markets. They basically just provide a donation to the municipality for the continuous improvement of the community.

The Warren County Farmers Market normally opens every Saturday morning from 7am and closes at 12noon. This is the best time to shop as the goods are freshly picked. Some of the farmers market goods include vegetables, fruits, preserves, jams, pickled veggies, handcrafted/ handmade items, honey jars and crafts.

Entertainment such as live band, song and dance performances and sometimes piped in music are normally provided at the Warren County Farmers Market to further enrich the experience.

At our local Farmers market I get to befriend our local farmers and able to get huge discounts. I personally love going to Farmers Market with my little princess, Maiah in tow. As much as possible I want her to eat healthy and nutritious food and at Farmers Market I am convinced that every good is fresh and new. I also love to shop there because of the considerably lower price compared to grocery stores.

Farmers Market produces are 100% free from harmful fertilizers and chemicals/ preservatives that could ruin your body when eaten. Go to the nearest Farmers market near you and start eating safe and healthy food! Why not opt to do your grocery shopping from now on at Farmers market, so you could save a lot of cash and be assured that you are eating healthy food?

Flights - Using A Strategy To Find The Best Deals

By Joanne Williamsen

There are many strategies that work for finding the best flights. Many tips and flight advice is actually contradictory but still true. It can become confusing but the following detail some steps you can take to find the best flight for your trip.

A lot of the time finding a good deal depends on when you are flying and how far in advance you are purchasing your tickets.

To find the best flight for your trip you will need to visit several airlines and airfare search engine sites. This way you will have a good idea of all of the options and how much those differences cost.

There are certain times during the year when travel is popular, mainly around the holidays and travelling to warm climates during the winter. At these times flights to specific destinations can be expensive.

You can keep your flight price low by travelling at off season times. If you do fly during a peak time then you can keep prices low by purchasing your ticket very far in advance, for Christmas I advise 6 to 8 months in advance.

However if you can be very flexible you can find great flights at the very last minute. This is normally due to the fact that the airline has not managed to fill the plane. It is better for then to fill the plane even at a discount cost then to have empty seats. You can sign up for last minute offers and deals from individual airline websites or you can decide to take a 3 day weekend in two days and see which destinations have great deals.

Actually making the decision of when to purchase your tickets can be tricky as the fare may decrease in price but then it may also increase in price.

Making the decision of when to purchase your tickets can be tricky as sometimes people think that if they wait the airfare may decrease. Sometimes this can happen but the airfare can also increase. There are websites that can give you predictions on the best time to purchase your tickets as they use historical data from previous years to give you the best estimation.

Food Festivals 1

By Ian Kleine

Food festivals in my opinion are in my top to-visit list when it comes to visiting them around the country. Food is bountiful, and the people are cheery. There's a happy atmosphere that it seems nothing could expunge it. And truly it is, because food is one of the basic needs of man, and a great joy for others. Celebrating it in an event dedicated to life's simple pleasures is something one should not miss.

And America, blessed with the varying seasons, climates and altitudes, has an expanded scope of gastronomic delight. Along with the wonders of modern technology (halleluiah, importation!); food that you rarely would find in one place can now be as common as spaghetti in Italy. We have fruits, veggies, herbs, wine and drink, and even the strange like baby food!

First off is the esteemed Strawberry Festival in Garden Grove, California, held on May 22nd to May 25th. As the name implies, it's all about the pink-reddish marvel, the strawberry! Tons of these juicy lovelies will come parading down the streets of Garden Grove, each in their prime and pride. There are a lot of carnivals and parades in the nearby streets for you to indulge in to! Celebrities, each new and those returning will also be making an appearance; so better watch out for them as they will be all over the place.

In the state of Georgia, a fruit is celebrated every 12th of June up till the 20th. The peach, which is well loved by those in Byron and Fort Valley Georgia. If you love peaches, now is the time to buy in bulk and stockpile on it, as peaches will be on the spotlight for the whole week. Fresh peach, peach cobblers, preserves, ice cream, pies and much more! There will be shows and events held each day as well, so if you are lucky to be in the area, indulge and you might win a prize!

By Simon N James

In the Virgin Islands a wide range of diving and other amazing activities can be found, the US Virgin Islands consists of over 50 islands with the most famous ones being the islands of St. Thomas, St. John, and St. Croix. Reaching these 3 islands is fairly simple with many airports in the US flying their.

St. Thomas

The dive centre will all take you to the waters of Pillsbury Sound between St. Thomas and St. John to dive sites which have several shipwrecks encrusted with bright sponges and coral. One of the more famous is the "General Rogers" which is a 100 plus foot US Coast Guard buoy which was sunk there to form an artificial reef which is located in around 60 feet of water. The reef is established on the coast guard buoy which is formed some lovely Orange cup coral and others with an abundance of fishes such as angelfish and grunts to name a few.

Named the best diving in the Virgin Islands, Sail Rock reaches up 125 feet in the air off the West End of St Thomas and is teeming with jacks, wrasse, barracuda and turtles.

St. John

Located between the islands St. John and St. Thomas are two very popular diving locations called Congo Cay and Carval Rock. Carval rock a nice dive site which is home to many turtles, swarming silversides, cruising reef sharks, and waving sea rods and gorgonians. The swim-through is a must do which tower is between two towering rock faces is covered with vibrant marine life.

Camping is even available for those who want to rough it a bit outdoors.

Festival Psychology

By Ian Kleine

There is so much to think about festivals. Sometimes you are left to ponder with the things that pertain to festivals. Their necessity, their practicality, like why do they even exist? Of course, you are left to waste at least a few minutes or even hours of your life trying to sort out this conundrum. Why a festival? What are the implications? Is there any special effect if you go into one? Should even indulge in it?

Festivals, in my dark cynical mind, are a waste of time and money. When you take on an I-hate-the-world-and-everyone-is-dumber-than-me; you get that feeling of dis attachment (which is a warning sign for you to go to your nearest shrink and have a session (or possibly four). There is a sense of dislike for any event wherein you are forced to make contact with other people or something close to that.

Another thing you might be worried about is the productivity. Hey, time is gold. And gold equates to money. Now, if you are busy frolicking around the fair area, to have yourself enjoying timetime which should have been done for making money and stuff. If you're the type of person who thinks just that, you need to loosen up a bit and lighten up.

Seriously, money will always be there. But time is fleeting. Money is concrete. Time is abstract. Between time and money, learn which one will you use for yourself and for your family. If you have one, that is. If you do not, then prioritize and see where your life will take you.

Festivals, for the most part, are made to celebrate the different aspects of life, with what we enjoy about it. Love, life, family and food, these are the things that we know and will come to pass. But memories of a fireworks-filled sky and a carnival of festivals will always endure.

A Bite of Texas

By Haylee Landford

Whatever enticements bring you to the great land of Texas, I can guarantee you one thing, the food is what will keep you there. The South has perfected their own unique standard of cuisine, and the Lone Star State is saturated with it. The delicacies and delights found here are quite lacking anywhere else in the world.

It's easy to spell fun in Texas -- BBQ. Despite the population, the biggest cities and the smallest towns all have their own barbecue establishment of some kind. Each self proclaiming themselves, no doubt, to be "The Best Barbecue in Texas!" With only slight variations, you can easily expect an atmosphere of brushed steel, wood planks, hickory smoke, and country music.

The sole purpose of the visit, however, being the food, is quite varying from pork, beef, and chicken drenched in the most savory of barbecue flavors. If you prefer a kick of spicy, sweetness of honey glaze, or classic hickory savor, all meats and sauces are accounted for in any choice of location for your barbecue experience. I was surprised to find when I moved to Texas, that even the most elegant of occasions and events are centered around a banquet of barbecue.

Barbecue can only have success due to one of Texas' most precious assets, beef. It is a common scene driving through the state to find miles of unending herds of appealing livestock. These acres of land can boast to produce the most delicious animals in the country.

For those who don't find pleasure in their animals being barbecued, nobody can reject a tender piece of steak melting in their mouth. You have to try very hard to miss one of the many fine Texas Steakhouses. To guarantee a perfectly tender and yet sufficiently cooked steak, I would recommend the medium grill of your choice of steak.

The close proximity to the border has created a fortunate genre of fascinating food that you can't find anywhere but here called TexMex. Going at least as south as San Antonio will bring you the romantic hispanic influence. Mexican style food perfectly blended with Texas grown culture brings soft, warm tortillas, freshest salsas, and explosive flavors to lull us all away.

Texas also has great pride in the vast acreage of land that serves as a breeding ground of succulent fruits, vegetables, and a variety of produce. My personal favorite is undoubtedly the peach. The South can boast for creating the best peach cobbler, for good reason.

Peaches thrive in this climate and humidity. In our own backyard we grow a large fruitful peach tree that satisfies our craving for juicy sweet peaches with each summer season. Everyone in our community also looks forward to this season for my family to bring over paper bags full of peaches to share.

Texas land and climate cannot always be described as unbearable. They bring forth the produce of the most enjoyable eating. The livestock, fruits, and vegetables, have a happy home grown here in Texas. All Texans should be proud to share with any traveller our unique culinary creations with substantial delight.

Basic Mead: Good Source of Income?

By Ian Kleine

Mead is an alcoholic beverage that is derived from honey and water, fermented and left to develop using yeast. The content may rise from that of slightly alcoholic, to one that could knock out a heavy drinker. More often than not, it is confused with the name 'honey wine' but it is still mead. Quite really, it is still just water and honey for the more no-nonsense folks out there.

A type of mead that has herbs and spices (common favorites are ginger, vanilla, clove, cinnamon, nutmeg, oregano and even lavender) is called metheglin. Metheglin comes from the word "meddyglyn" which roughly means 'healing liquor' suggesting to its earlier use as a type of therapeutic or immediate drug.

Nowadays, metheglin is commercialized, produced, and sold in bottles across the state, more for its taste and appeal rather than its medicinal effects (if it did have any). Spicing and the combination of amount and type is key. As of this time, there are at least a hundred different types of metheglin, a handful being popular, and some bordering on the exotic or esoteric.

Metheglin makes for good business, especially in parts of Texas who still have the appetite for this pioneer drink. It's simple, and not complicated like beer or most of the modern wines that we have. The health bit is a bonus; it's the taste that matters. After all, we've been smoking and drinking with disregard for our health. Well, metheglin may actually be good for your body. Moderation, again, is key to this however. After all, too much of a good thing would still bring illness to you.

To make metheglin, mix rational parts of water and honey, bring to a boil, and mix in your herbs or flowers/spices and yeast. Allow to ferment for a week in an airtight container. Drain out and strain for impurities and ferment once more. Let it reach at least a year for good and sweet taste that's deep, like the history of mead.

How to pack for for a family vacation in order to survive travelling with your kids.

By Jennifer Hess

A family vacation is a time for family members to spend quality time with each other. It is a great way to get some relief from the stress of work, school, and other parents' and children's responsibilities. A family vacation is a way to enhance family relationships and bonding, as it is one of the only times that everybody tends to relax and enjoy the moment. Here are some packing tips to help you enjoy your vacation to the fullest.

Designate a bag for each child and have them put in it whatever they will be taking on the vacation. Make sure that the things that they are packing are important - some kids tend to want to pack everything. Put labels on each bag in order to be organized and to avoid mix up. In order to pack more in each backpack, have them roll the clothes tightly. Pack the light clothes first followed by the heavy clothes - it will make your backpack lighter.

Pack comfortable clothes that are appropriate to the weather of the place that you are going to. Be sure to have your sun hats, sunglasses and sun cream lotion. Don't forget to pack one jacket and long pants for each member of the family for them to wear in a cold night.

Make sure to pack interesting games for the children in order to keep them busy. Long trips can be boring and games with lots of interaction between family members can make them fun. Bring special toys for the younger ones. You might want to buy a few new items since new toys are always more interesting.

Prepare some snacks and refreshments that you will be eating during the trip. Pack some diapers and baby wipes for your baby. Ask the family what they want to eat during the trip so you can prepare it before you go. This will save you some cash.

You should always be prepared, so don't forget to pack your first aid kit. Bring a flashlight and some extra batteries too. Pack some medicine for headaches and colds, and bring a container for medicine that anybody needs to take on a daily basis.

Be ready with your camera and fully charged batteries. You will want to capture all the precious moments during the vacation. If you are planning to take pictures while swimming, buy a waterproof camera to ensure that every moment is captured.

See to it that you have already paid your bills. Start planning at least two weeks before the date of your departure to ensure that all things are in order. A planned vacation is a worry-free vacation.

Feng Shui states that plants help absorb negative ch'i or energy in a space so as it would not affect the dwellers.

Plants should be carefully positioned in areas of the home. In bedrooms there should at least be one plant which has to be carefully positioned near the doorway or entrance/ exit points. This is to block the negative ch'is that can harm the person who inhabits the room.

Play Doh is indeed a great educational toy that is highly recommended for parents to buy for their kids. As a kid I am fond of playing with my Play-Doh. It gives me great satisfaction to be able to create different kinds of objects using my bare hands.

Claymakers are also what you call the pot or earthenware makers. This skill takes long to perfect and could only be achieved if the person is diligent and patient enough to learn. Clay is Play-Doh for the grown-ups, at least as far as skilled sculptors and claymaker artists are concerned. They are given with this piece of workable material where they can create any shape they want out of a boring and shapeless mold.

Different sculptures will be on display and some of them are even for sale, to benefit the local chosen charity. At Durham there is a Claymakers exhibit where artworks of local talents are displayed on an annual basis. In here spectators and clay enthusiasts will view the product of the hard works of the Claymakers. Prices will be a little higher than usual because some items are intricate works of art and would never be seen at any Clay shops.

Festival In and Outs

By Ian Kleine

There's a certain sense and pattern when trying to get into the sense of having to run into at least 3 festivals or more in one day, or even for a period of two days. Festivals are pretty much draining, in all aspects of your life. You feel tired physically, you're drained emotionally, you feel you've given so much of your social life talking to people inside the festival grounds, and well, yeah. That sums it up. You could grow sick of festivals in just one sitting.

Setting your mind up to visiting at least more than two festivals a day requires that you have a different mindset of seeing the trip not as an errand or as a chore, but a social trek. When trying to go into a festival, don't get cynical. And don't get temperamental either. Being a party pooper at the start of the trip would have you very sour and very uncooperative while everyone else is having fun.

Some people like to go to festivals alone. These would include your typical rebellious teenager and or your love-forlorn daughter. Be understanding of their needs to want to have their own private space. The sensation of going into a festival alone is equal to almost monumental freedom. Give them the space that they deserve and the time that they will need.

Pack a bit of food yourself, but if you find the whole thing to be pretty daunting and hassling, be a bit of an anti-scrooge and go spend your money where you're supposed to spend it in a festival. In fun, style, leisure and for your enjoyment. Of course, always exercise the usual prudence of not blowing off your entire pay on the fun and games inside the festival.

Feel free to refer with other friends as well. If you're the type of guy to enjoy visiting a festival with friends, you can save on expenses if you go together.

The Wonderful Casa Andina Classic Cusco Plaza Hotel in Peru

By Jose Barrenechea

Often referred to as the Archaeological Capital of the South America, Cusco manages to combine the present and the past in a unique way; probably this mixture of tradition and contemporizing style is what adds to its unique beauty. The entire city of Cusco is full of archaeological remains and sights of significant importance, as most of them reflect the Empire of the Incas or the Colonial Era. The guests and visitors who flock to Cusco every year wish to get to know the mystics and mysteries of this historical town, thus staying is some of the most well appointed hotels in Cusco, such as the Casa Andina Classic Cusco Plaza Hotels is recommended. Brief overview of Casa Andina Classic Cusco Plaza Hotel:

The Casa Andina Classic Cusco Plaza Hotel is a well appointed but affordable Cuzco hotel that offers its guests the chance to an unparallel sensation of staying in a very intimate and warm hotel, where even the slightest detail is specifically minded and cared for. The hotel is ideally located only one block away from the central Square of Cusco and is in very close proximity to numerous dining outlets and commercial areas; stores, jewelleries, bars, clubs and discos are in walking distance from the Casa Andina hotel. In addition, the most known and popular touristic attractions of the town, such as the Koricancha Temple and the famous Cathedral of Cuzco are a few minutes away, allowing the guests of the Casa Andina Classic Cusco Plaza Hotel to access them either on foot or even by the hotels shuttles.

The hotel features forty well decorated and comfortable rooms which ensure that guests will have a truly pleasant and memorable stay in Cuzco, Peru. Among the 40 guestrooms, are four smoking rooms and one which is specifically designed to accommodate handicapped people. The rooms overlook the main square of the town and feature everything needed for a comfortable stay: heating, cable TV, direct dialing phone for both local and international calls, hairdryer, private bathrooms, safe deposit box in the room and feathers comforters.

In the public areas the guests can also find computers with multitask printers and internet access, while the Wi-Fi fast internet connection is available to all guests who have their own computers with them. There is also an ATM machine, smoke detector in the public spaces (and rooms), exchange services for major foreign currencies, as well as laundry and taxi service. The reception is open around the clock and the very well trained and experienced personnel can assist the guests with all their needs and requirements.

A very nice breakfast saloon is also available on site. All spaces of the hotel are designed in a traditional, rustic Andean style, allowing the guest to become familiar with the charming spirit of the region.

The town of Cuzco is a historical place, boasting a long history dating back to the 1200 AD and is associated with the famous Incas Empire. The town, though, expanded in the 15th century, under the dominance of Pachacutec who managed to expand the Empire to the biggest part of the South Americas, only to see a sudden destruction by the Conquistadors from Spain.

Visitors who arrive in Cuzco, Peru, immediately notice the amazing atmosphere and the crystal clear mountain air. As most of the guests are interested in seeing the famous Machu Picchu, a well appointed Cuzco hotel is definitely required, so as to enjoy some time of relaxation, before heading to the major Peruvian attraction. The town of Cuzco, itself though, has many attractions that reflect the true spirit of the Andes: the Cathedral, the temple of Koricancha " also known as the Temple of Sun " are just a few of them. The Casa Andina Classic Cusco Plaza Hotel is located close to the Temple, giving its guests the chance to admire the impressive palace, which was once covered by gold.

As in all Casa Andina Cuzco Hotels, the visitors of the Casa Andina Classic Cusco Plaza Hotel will have a wonderful and memorable stay.

My uncle is a celebrated florist in our town who is one of the few who are commissioned by the event organizers to conduct a seminar about floral arrangement. The "S" structure consists of flower petals arranged in S curvature form when viewed from the front.

He is one fine florist in making dimensional floral pieces. The concept about building height and creating dimension and depth in floral arrangement will also be tackled by my uncle. His teachings include using the long stemmed flower on the center (of a round floral table arrangement) and gradually decreasing in height as it slope down the edges. He also points out the use of colors in creating depth and play at any floral arrangement.

Ghibli Museum - A Dream Destination For Anime Fans

By James Katashima

The Ghibli Museum in Tokyo is a place that all anime fans make an effort to visit the moment they arrive in the country. It is not just for individuals who are fans of the studio that the museum is based on, but also those who are not as familiar. This is partly due to the fact that it also shows how animation is done through traditional and modern methods.

Before, Ghibli film fans had nowhere to go in order to see official memorabilia from the movies or creators. Hayao Miyazaki, the owner of Studio Ghibli, thus decided to create the museum for this purpose. It was also decided that the museum would be located in Mitaka and be an inspiration for fans of animation in general.

This naturally led to having many popular Ghibli characters featured in the museum, with many of them life size recreations or original props used. One would be able to see the towering robot from Laputa:Castle in the Sky on the rooftop. Others will also be ecstatic with the iconic Totoro greeting them from the ticket office.

However, there is a small stumbling block for anyone wishing to pay the museum a visit. Trying to get tickets to the site can be a challenging task, as they are not available at the door and must be purchased way in advance. This information is curiously not easily available to those outside of Japan and can often lead to confusion and frustration.

At this time, it is not as difficult to get one's hands on tickets in general. Locals will find it extremely easy given that they can buy them from convenience stores. However, this is more challenging for tourists who do not know the language, but they can resort to getting them from local tour operators.

Models of favorite characters are not the only things to see at the museum. Passionate animation fans will get to witness fantastic animation models that show how much one can do with the art. These models are very popular and have been said to inspire many current and future artists.

There are special film screenings in a film theater housed in the museum. These are not the films like My Neighbor Totoro that are available easily elsewhere. Instead they are unique short anime films created just for visitors to the museum.

With so many special moments and things to see in the Ghibli Museum, it is no wonder the Japanese government has earmarked it as one of the country's cultural attractions. While anime on a scale has yet to achieve widespread mass appeal, the museum can help to cultivate the interest.

Sheep-Shearing in Mount Vernon

By Mara Hernandez-Capili

Sheep shearing is the term that is used to describe the process of removing the wool from the sheep through shearing. Modern sheep shearing methods have been created as the years pass in order to implicate shearing without hurting the sheeps. It is a common practice especially in countries like Australia where major number of sheeps are being sheared each year. Generally adult sheeps are sheared only once a year.

Sheep shearing is done to extract the fleece or wool from sheeps to make cloths or wool fabrics. Sheep shearing does not kill sheeps and factories or contractors use advance methods nowadays in order to shear sheeps safely and faster.

As of now there are still civic organizations such as PETA that are totally opposed to sheep shearing and other "animal maltreatment". They insist that sheep shearing is an abuse to sheeps and that by products of this activity should not be bought or supported. However, such fabrics gotten from sheep's wool is considered as luxury and are bought in very steep prices.

Shearing the Rams is a famous painting (oil on canvas) done by Tom Roberts, a celebrated Australian painter. Critics exclaimed that the artwork is used to portray the bush life and culture of Australia. Shearing the Rams portrays the everyday manual labor of men in a shearing warehouse.

During the past blade shears are used to shear the sheeps however because of the new technology shearing machines came into existence. These machines are much better and faster at shearing sheeps leaving less to no accidents of cutting sheep's skin.

Sheep shearing activities and demonstration at Mount Vernon will be attended by spectators in order to see live the actual shearing process. Learn from the experts during this activity that is scheduled in Mount Vernon.

Security on the Festival Grounds

By Ian Kleine

The local fair and trade market can be a very wonderful place for most kids (and kids at heart) to frolic around. Food stalls abound everywhere, some new niceties to buy and play with, a new thing to discover; it can be a whole new adventure when venturing around the festival grounds.

But as with every adventure, danger always hounds both wary and unwary travelers. They can come in many forms, but each one is sure to deal a blow to your family if you are caught unawares.

First, your local security. Florida is not the hanky-panky state most people would assume it to be. Every place can be a danger, and your local trade shows aren't an exception. Keep your kids beside you at all times, buy a child safety leash if need be. Child safety leashes ARE not degrading in any form, and gives your child freedom and gives you security at the same time. Make sure that you don't take your hands off the stroller or baby carriage and as much as possible, have someone go with you when out venturing into the festival.

Second, your health. Festivals go from morning to evening. Make sure to wear comfortable clothes so they don't end up sticky or smelly. You wouldn't want to attract flies and insects that would bring you more nasties. For those going to the fair when the moon is up, a jacket would be nice to keep the warmth in and the cold out.

For the booth keepers and exhibit owners, make sure that at least two or three people man the booth at the same time. A few rascals might cause trouble or someone might steal a thing or two. That would equal to your profit being stolen. Have a comfortable uniform that is easy to wear, so in case of emergencies, your movements will not be hindered. You can never know with our times.

Be vigilant, but learn to relax as well. After all, the point of going to a festival is to enjoy your time with you and your family or loved one.

Part Three of the Weekly Craft Show

By Rick Amorey

If you think it is easy to predict which item among your crafts will sell each week, then think again. I daresay that it is impossible to predict such things; or how much will sell each week for that matter. Some of my crafts have been sitting in my weekly booth for a month, gathering dust if I didn't wipe it off each day. Then, just as I was about ready to remove it to make some space, someone went in, bought it, and was gone before I understood what happened.

There is really no way to tell if you will be able to sell each individual product. But, it's a lot harder to face the fact that there is no way to find out how much you will sell all in all for every week that you set up a booth. It feels invigorating when your sales are on the up and up, and everyone seems to love your crafted items. But, when all you get for your pains and effort is a few furtive glances, then everything seems to be downright depressing.

Strive to keep your emotions in check, if you are doing a weekly show. Nothing says you have talent better than having your goods sell themselves. But, on the other hand, it's also true in the opposite direction when it seems like no one wants to purchase your crafted works. You may start to question your talent, and will probably get disheartened.

So instead of worrying about your week to week sales, focus on the numbers and tally them. See if there are good sales over longer periods of time; statistical data will provide a better account of your success than an individual day of sales. See your overall weekly average, and put an effort in maintaining or raising it.

Lastly, I will have to advise you to be cautious about customers haggling. Unfortunately, this is something that every seller in booths and stalls will have to contend with. You may even grow to hate it. You aren't some cheap flea market vendor, after all. You are the one who makes and puts in effort into the things they want to buy. Don't take it personally, though. It's just the haggler's mindset, and from their point of view, they just want to save money.

Cajun and the Diffys

By Ian Kleine

There are several notions that are proven to be false for the real authentic Cajun style cooking. These notions often prove enough to dissuade the adventurous eater from trying out Cajun style cooking. Often it becomes flame material, and is the starting ignition point for Cajun and creole lovers. But is there really a difference and distinction for Cajun against Creole cooking, and general cooking styles in the whole matter?

The rules are according to wiki, Cajun food is not fancy. Cajun food is not extremely hot from pepper. Cajun cooking does not use wine as part of the cooking. Cajun does not require expensive or exotic ingredients. Cajun is NOT available from a box (or in a box). Cajun dishes are often simple and brown. Cajun dishes do not contain any form of cream or pasta as an ingredient. Cajun is rarely seen in restaurant menus. Cajun cooking does not frequently incorporate blackened meat in its dishes. And Cajun cooking can be successfully done outside the area of Cajun Country.

The reason for this misconception is probably the dishes outside of Louisiana have a reputation for being hotter and spicier than the original Cajun dishes. That and most foods often receive the spice treatment outside of their hometowns. If you can't bear it, spice it up is what they would say.

Outside the realm of southern Louisiana, foods in Cajun-style ingredients and seasonings are called Cajun, even those that actually do not live up to the criteria of Cajun cooking. Oftentimes, any dish that uses cayenne paper is misquoted as that of 'Cajun cooking'. Which it is not.

Often times do Cajun cuisine is seriously confused with Creole cuisine (sparking conflicts between chefs of the two different disciplines). Creole's qualities are French-inspired, on some level 'hip', cosmopolitan and certainly urban. Cajun is purely French influenced, with common

He met Nancy, the girlfriend of cruel Sikes and immediately kind-hearted Nancy developed a motherly affection for Oliver. They became friends together with Nancy's sister Bet. When it was time for Oliver to practice his pickpocketing skills (he actually does not know that they are pickpocketing- he thought that they were doing handkerchief tricks), he got Mr. Browlow a wealthy old man as a victim. He got arrested but was released when found not guilty. At that time a locket was found from Oliver containing his mother's picture (Mr. Browlow's granddaughter) indicating that Oliver is sole heir ot the old man's riches.

Nancy found out about the locket and set to bring Oliver to Mr. browlow but was waylaid and murdered by Sikes. The plot ended as Mr. Browlow was reunited with his long-lost grandson.

The Top Wonders of Port Douglas

By Joseph Richards

Port Douglas is about an hours drive north along a beautiful coastal road from Cairns and was once a tiny fishing village. Today it is a tourist centre and a Mecca for food lovers with a wide variety of wonderful restaurants, cafes and bars.

On Macrossan Street you will find the village shops, restaurants and bars. It is a street beautifully lined with many, original, 19th century buildings as well as newer builder that architecturally blend nicely.

After the cyclone, in 1911, the port population went down to only 500. It began to raise again, many years later due to the construction of the Sheraton Mirage Resort , built in 1980s. The Sheraton brought in the tourists and begin of an increase in restaurants and accommodation.

At the end of Macrossan Street you can enjoy a beautiful beach, with a stinger net in the sea, enabling a safe water enjoyment. The other end of the street is home to a marina, where the Sheraton located. The beach there offers activities which include, parasailing, helicopter rides, and Dive School. At the marina you can enjoy a day of golf or yachting.

On Sundays there is a Sunday Market held in Market Park which has been going for about twenty years. It provides you with the opportunity to but locally hand made arts and crafts of every description. In 1998, the council decreed this market to be a Cotters Market, thereby ensuring that the goods on offer for sale are made only by the stall holder of their immediate family making it a wonderfully unique place to shop.

There is such a choice of accommodation, luxury or budget that you will always be guaranteed a bed for the night although in May you may need to book in advance as Port Douglas Carnivale is on for ten days and is one of the most popular events in Tropical North Queensland.

If you are looking for five star luxury then check out the Sheraton Mirage Port Douglas. It has a beachfront Oasis directly onto four mile beach, a championship golf course, five acres of salt water swimming lagoons, three restaurants, a country club with gym, tennis courts and a lap pool and a kids club. I dont think you could possibly ask for anything else.
