Heat Stroke Targets

By Ian Kleine

The majority of victims that are usually easily affected by heatstroke are the kids and the elderly, as their adaptability to differing temperatures are usually less responsive compared to those in their prime. Those who are severely fat and obese are at also greater risk than those who are slim and fit because the body has a great difficulty dissipating the body heat through the thick layers of lipids and fat.

First aid must be given in haste and should be of differing methods that should immediately bring the core temperature to at least 39 degrees Celsius. One quick method of doing so is by rubbing the body with a cloth dipped in cold (not ice) water. Alcohol also works fine, as the liquid dissipates into the air fast enough, taking heat away as well; just make sure that you are doing so in a well-ventilated environment.

Should you give a cold bath, do so. But don't do with an ice bath, as the immediate drop in temperature might lead to cardiac arrest. Once temperature has at least reached the 39 degree mark, slowly lead the body to cool down a bit more slowly now. Don't shock the body with an immediate temperature change, never forget this.

A lesser form of heatstroke, or rather a milder version of it, is heat exhaustion. This less severe condition occurs when the afflicted person feels tired, fatigued, and a bit nauseous and dizzy because of profound and long exposure to heat.

This is because of over sweating, which leads to the excessive loss of body salts and electrolytes, though the body is at a normal or below normal temperature thanks to it. Giving first aid means having small sips of salt water to replenish the lost salts and a massage to areas affected by cramps, which usually follows after heat exhaustion.

Queensland Locals

By Joseph Richards

With 126,000 natives, Queensland has the countrys second largest indigenous population. Prior to the European settlement natives from many tribes populated the Queensland areas. By the turn of the 19th century ,the Aborigines had been removed from their lands and the white Australians had set up reserves to contain the survivors. Murri, is the term used to refer to the natives of Queensland.

In 1877 gold was discovered in the Hodgkinson River. This discovery changed everything as violent battles, between the locals and the European settlers, began causing numerous fatalities. Aboriginal groups were removed for their homelands and sent on missions by the European authorities.

In 1897 the Aboriginals Protection and Restriction of the Sale of Opium Act came into action. Although its intent was to preserve and protect the local people, legislation served only to diminish the human value of the Aboriginal people. They were not given citizenship rights or counted on census until 1901 and their right to vote did not come until 66 years later, in 1967.

The Aboriginals believed the world around them was link directly to them. The rainforest was regularly described in human terms. Changes to the environment were interpreted as changes happening to themselves. The rainforest was the source of all food, shelter, and other community structures. Traditionally they live in small communities of 8 to 12 with camps extending along the banks of rivers and creeks.

Aboriginal Australians and white Australians have made an effort, over the last few years to improve their living conditions, so that the traditions of all the surviving tribes can thrive again.

Heat Exhaustion

By Ian Kleine

A lesser known form of heat stroke, but ideally all the same as dangerous as it, is heat exhaustion, or heat prostration as it is known in some other people. It is the condition where the body exerts too much effort to maintain your local core temperature to the safe, and normal level.

The normal reaction of body to external heat is to perspire liquids. Sweat forms on the skin and readily evaporates, carrying heat away and subsequently cooling you down and preventing temperature to raise up to unbearable levels. Sweating and perspiration, is also a double edged sword. With the evaporation and loss of sweat means the loss of liquids and salts sacrificed to cool you down. Normally, you would be able to replenish these by drinking liquids and partaking your normal diet.

However, prolonged sweating because the high temperature persists, and the person not immediately replenishing his liquid and salts stocks; this could lead to exhaustion of the body to maintain the normal balance of salts and electrolytes. This results to the diminishing rate of blood circulation, which could coincidentally hinder responses from your brain, heart, lungs and other parts of the body. This is what we deem as heat exhaustion.

Symptoms of the condition include heavily sweating, pale, clammy and otherwise cold skin, pupils that are dilated, a different temperature reading in other parts of the body, cramps elsewhere and weakness, dizziness and nausea, headaches, confusion, and sometimes, complete unconsciousness. It is important that first aid be immediately to anyone who reports any of these signs so proper first aid can be given.

First aid includes removing the person from the source of the heat. If the person is outside, bring him in the shade or in a building with sufficient ventilation, air movement, and lower temperature. Raise the person's legs to divert blood from the legs to the brain, where it is needed the most (the weakened blood circulation makes this impossible at the moment). Loosen and/or remove any clothing article that hinders blood circulation and cool the body down with an ice pack or a wet compress. Do not use alcohol.

Lake George NY, A Great Place to be

By LJ James

As a Biker I love to take long Rides on my 2007 Harley Davidson, Nightrain. Some times a trip to Connecticut where one has the freedom of choice to decided if they want to wear a Helmet or not is a great place to go. Often I head up to the NY Catskill Mountains, Where a Burger and a Beer at Nicks Waterfall House in West Conesville can be the perfect end to a day of Cruising threw the Mountains.

Then there is another of my Favorite places to ride to, The Lake George NY area. My Uncle has a small Cabin in the Mountains right outside of the town of Lake George where I often stay. The area has some great long and winding roads for riding, These roads will relax even the most stressed Motorcycle rider.

There is so much history to the Lake George NY area. While on a trip one year riding around with no real destination in mind, I found myself in front of Fort Ticonderoga (fort-ticonderoga.org). Being very interested in American History I had to stop in and take the tour. The Fort was built between 1755 and 1759 and has plenty of stories to tell. It had a big roll in the American Revolution. As I walked around the Fort the I could almost imagine I had traveled back to the 18Th Century, The things I learned reminded me of the sacrifices our fore Fathers made to secure the Freedoms we enjoy and let slip threw our fingers every day.

Another thing I like to do is ride on some of the less traveled roads. Riding on a road where you see nothing but Forests and small Waterfalls for miles is very relaxing. I like to search out small little Dinners and eatery's, Stopping at them and trying some of the foods they have to offer.

I recently met up with my Mother, Sister, Brother, Nieces, Nephew and other members of my family at the Lake George Escape Evergreen Resort Campgrounds (LakeGeorgeEscape.com), I found it a great places for me to relax for a few days. There where plenty of activities for the kids and many activities I could enjoy with the kids. In the resorts game room I won my Nieces and Nephew many prizes and I played (or maybe Battled is a more accurate word) Air Hockey with my younger Brother in the game room for hours. The resort has a pond and two pools to Swim in. Each week at the resort during the Summer has a thyme and while we where there it was Halloween week. The Camp Grounds has Nightly Hay rides around the Camp Grounds and since it was Halloween week my Brother came up with the idea of throwing out candy to all the kids as we took a Hay ride around the grounds one night. The Cherry on the top of this great resort has to be the on Grounds full service Tiki style Bar where most Nights they had a DJ to help keep the party going!

Many other things I have stopped to enjoy while riding around and staying in the Lake George area is White Water rafting, Hiking and many Trips to Six Flags Great Escape & Splash Water Kingdom. The park was known as Storytown USA when it first opened in 1954. As a Kid I used to love to watch the gun fights in its old western area known as Ghost town. The park may be much larger now and have many modern day Rides and attractions, but all the old Story town, Jungleland and Ghost town areas from the 50's and 60s are still there! Then of course there is the town of Lake George it self with many great stores for shopping including a new shop I found last year called DILLIGAF's. Many Arcades, Museum's, Para Sailing, Night Clubs and Many Places to eat including some Waterfront Restaurants. Now in my opinion no trip to Lake George can be Complete without a Paddle wheel Cruise on the historic and scenic Lake George itself. The lake is known as the Queen of American Lakes. There are Two maybe three Companies you can use, But I recommend you take your trip on the Lake George Steamboat Company's (lakegeorgesteamboat.com) Minnie-Ha-Ha. I have Pictures of me getting on this Boat with my Family that go back many years.

As Bikers We are always looking for Great places to ride to alone or with our friends and family that offer both great riding areas and many things to do. I have found Lake George to be a great area for both!

Maybe I will see you there! Your Bro L.J. James AmericanBikerX.com Listen to LJs Radio Show at BikerLowDown.com

The Positive Outlook: In Breaking Out of Your Comfort Zone 2

By Ian Kleine

This is where "breaking" the comfort zone comes in. It is the continuous want that should drive you to do better, find a better place for yourself. Be better, live better, and love your job better. But often, people are bound by their thrall-like tendencies to seek improvement.

There is also a psychological reason for this, but let us not delve too much into the mind. Blaming yourself for mistakes is like shooting yourself in the foot. Highly irrational and definitely not beneficial.

So basically, there are some stuffs that you have to override. For one, it's contention. Big men aspire. They dream a lot, often these dreams being very insatiable to the core. But it is this driving force that makes them do a lot of things. Some great, some of them infamous, but common men would envy them. Because they have lived chasing their dream. And most often, died running in their feet.

The other thing you have to override is fear. Fear in danger is more dangerous than danger itself. If you constantly think of the danger of wanting progress and development, you will never prosper. You will only live to work for the next day and somehow die in that cycle of living we call a routine.

Another thing to override is habit, and is one of the other things to break. For whatever purpose, habit is not at all a good thing in the constant world of change. One needs malleability, but they also need to have the backbone and the cojones to pull off a decision together, and one that needs a degree of courage to do so. Don't be afraid or risking. If you lose, treat it as a lesson. If you win, then treat it is a privilege and a basis for your next courses of action.

The Positive Outlook: Breaking Out of The Comfort Zone

By Ian Kleine

We earlier, had discussed what comfort zones are. These are states where you feel you are most familiar with, and these are the zones where you are afraid of leaving behind. It's a psychological spur that causes most humans to seek comfort, and the comfort zone being a place specifically for that. But the comfort zone is not synonymous to progress and development. Should you wish to grow up, you have to leave the nest and fly off.

Try to realize first that breaking out of your comfort zone can be a very easy, or a very hard thing to do. The comfort zone is both relative and undetermined. For each human being, the comfort zone can stretch up to miles on end, or could just be as limited as the space in your basement. The comfort zone is not just a concrete place or area, but it can also be a state of mind.

Take the regular employee for example. You sleep, wake up, eat, go to work, do something, go back home and then eat and sleep again. This is what we call a typical routine. You do your stuff, you get paid. Say for 400 dollars for 2 weeks, most young men would find the offer catchy and take the job.

So it supports you and your family. The work is not hard, and you have time for yourself. But there is no development. You are comfortable with where you are, why break this cycle then? Give yourself time to think.

Don't you want to get richer? Filthy richer? Don't you want to raise your quo up a bit and earn just more? But you have a good life already! There certainly is no need to do break that cycle now, is there?

Some of the greatest and largest trees in the world take root in Northern California. The grandest and oldest trees on the planet are found in the Redwood forests. Any family vacation would be filled with numerous sources of entertainment and adventurous fun in this neck of the woods.

When I was a little girl I went with my family, and there was a stretch of roots so large that I tripped on it, fell down on my chin, and broke my tooth! I would not recommend the mountain man dentist as a stop for your vacation plans. Make sure you look down to watch your step every once and a while.

Aside from that, I thoroughly enjoyed my entire time walking amongst the most spectacular forest I've seen in my life. The awe inspiring spectacle is a legendary memory in the making for you and all your children. There are lodges available for any desiring to stay in the truly mountain cabin experience.

Water enthusiast need to look no farther than Lake Tahoe. Aside from the scenery and landscape, they pale in comparison to the adventure on the water. This watering hole would send the perfect summer vacation to your family.

Traveling a little south, you will find a magical land, of course, inspired by a little mouse. Disneyland brings to life all of our favorite characters from anyone's childhood. They not only have rides, but also shows and a wide display of all ingenuity a person can absorb. It would take substantial effort not to be happy in the Magic Kingdom of Disney.

San Diego has brought the most exotic of animals to us with it's world renowned zoo, and Seaworld water park. Only at Seaworld can we see the efforts of both human and animal intelligence together in exhilarating spectacles. In both attractions it will warm your heart to find the preservation of wildlife so preciously captured.

While on Vacation, Have Insurance.

By Greg Hansward

Many times when people go on vacation, it is their way to get rid of the stress from their responsibilities as well as their jobs and have an excellent, stress-free time! However, in order to put your mind at ease, it is best to have travel insurance. In fact, it is much easier to have fun knowing that you will be covered if anything happened. This can be something as simple as losing your luggage (not actually so small) or you becoming sick while on vacation.

When choosing your destinations from Bermuda to Benidorm, the further away it is the more insurance you will need! That is why many international trips may cost so much money, because of the insurance. No matter where you go, locally or internationally, it is important to have the proper insurance coverage. You would be surprised at how much some things may cost when you are out of the country. At least if you know you will be reimbursed when you get home, you won't feel so bad about having to spend so much unnecessary money during your vacation.

For those that travel more than once a year, it is best to find cheap annual travel insurance, as it would be cheaper than individual travel insurance each time you travel. When you have an annual insurance, you pay once a year and become covered when you travel. However, the terms may differ from companies. It all depends on what you need.

When choosing a cheap annual insurance, you should consider many things.

Sign up with well-known companies that have offices worldwide, which can be easily contacted during emergencies. You should always stick with companies that have 24/7 customer assistance. Make sure that your office's 1-800 numbers is always available. The price for the insurance should not be more than 10% of your investment. Make sure to read all the terms and conditions of the insurance. Make sure the insurance is refundable if you are one that always changes your mind about traveling. Good insurance companies will usually cover any of the following: 1. Flight delays or cancellations 2. Loss or delays in luggage 3. Accidents or illnesses during your trip 4. Emergency evacuations from natural disasters

No matter what company you choose for the insurance coverage, you must make sure that it is good for you; whether you make one payment or ten payments a year! No matter what you decide on, it is definitely worth having!

Turning your Craft into Business (Part 3)

By Ian Kleine

Well, we talked about having two options to make your life a bit more fulfilling than the drudgery of forced servitude in your everyday living and routine. It was either you find your dream job, one that would fill half the meaning as to what your life is about, or to create your own dream job, which means self-employment, investments and cooperation.

Yes, if you have a family, it's not a solo thing. Although, being single does mean you don't have dependents to hinder you, it also means that you do not have any support, and that means going into it alone.

Should you have a family that has a second say in everything that you do, you should have your family's voluntary yes. An effort in your part, without the blessings of your family, would USUALLY crash and burn. Oh believe me. Sooner or later, it will; not without outside support anyway.

Doing so means bringing your interest into light. Share it with your family and see if you can pique your interest with your own. A family willing to help you means extra hands...err, I meant, more for moral support. Seriously, you will have an easier time investing your family's money (remember, if you are a breadwinner, it's not only your money in the wallet, it's your family's future. That means they have say on what happens to it).

At least work a compromise with everyone. I'm sure most generic people would have at least more than two interests working for them. You and your family could find something common in there. Start discovering and see what would work for everyone. Because if you can pull this off, your dream of finding the perfect job, would not be as far fetched as it seems.

The Positive Outlook: Comfort Zones

By Ian Kleine

Hopefully, you've made some small time successes in your local state, or crafts fair. People know you, and they know they can TRUST you. See? Business is not just about profits, but making relations as well. With charity, you might be able to spread your roots to other territories. AND speaking of other territories, this is the fun part. Welcome to the world of expansion.

What is expansion? Why, it's something you'll need in case you want your business to flourish. To expand means to grow big. And to grow big, you must think big. The business is still a business, but with expansion, it can grow to a franchise, or even *gasp* a corporation. There's no one stopping you except your proverbial self of course. After all, it is but humans who put limits on themselves.

So, what is a comfort zone? The name speaks for itself. It's where you feel comfortable, where you feel safe. And for most of us, that place would be home. Or at least any place near it. And that's where you usually start your business, ayt?

Like with an egg, your comfort zone can nurture that business. Protect it from the harsh elements of the outside world and grow. But sooner or later, it will outgrow it. And when it does, you'll have to think of someplace else to grow to. That is what we mean by the term growing out of the comfort zone. And this has got to be the hardest part for most people.

I mean, the mentality of "Oh I'm already good here. Why should I go outside?" is the one big enemy of development. Satiation is good, but you have to be at least just be a bit teeny-weeny greedy about business. Pride and all that pizzazz. Break out of your comfort zone. It will do you no good to hang around it.

Earth Day in Connecticut

By Mara Hernandez-Capili

Earth Day was celebrated by advocates yesterday April 22. It was an activity that commemorated people's fight against global warming. It is also a special day where we begin to think and ponder on how we can care for our beloved planet. Thanks to Earth Day organizers, we are conscientiously reminded to be kind and not to be cruel to our surroundings. Because of Earth Day more people are becoming aware and more environmentally oriented.

Earth Hour is a part of the Earth Day campaign. It is a widely publicized event in the whole world since it requires all the country in the world to turn off their lights for one whole hour. The Earth Hour is done to save on the country and the world's energy and electricity resources. It was first experimented in Sydney, Australia were it turned out to be a huge success. Earth Hour was a successful endeavor with several countries participating for it this year.

Green jobs are another advocacy of Earth Day campaigns. Green companies nowadays are employing more and more people to do green jobs for them. What is exactly a green job? A green job is a job that helps benefit our environment and our surroundings. Green companies range from solar panel manufacturers to no-gas/ water powered vehicle manufacturers. According to President Obama's platform, there will be hundreds of green jobs/companies in the coming years.

Green artists' response for Earth Day is by creating Recycled Art or Junk Art. How is this done? Artists make use of everyday materials or second hand materials in lieu of the art materials they were very accustomed to. An example of a green artist and his recycled art is Harvey Whitcomb and his mosaic looking crushed CD's on frame. Judging from Whitcomb's website, this green artist sure made excellent use of an everyday material to transform to a marvelous work of art.

There is an Earth day Celebration in Stamford, Connecticut where everyone is encouraged to attend to know how to care for the Earth and be good stewards of our mother planet.

Best Gay Travel Destinations " Playa Delfines, Cancun

By Ricardo d Argence

If you really think about it, I think Mexico is the best and the most famous destination for gay vacationers. And a big reason why Mexico is the undoubtedly best destination for gay travelers is Cancun. And a big reason why it's Cancun, is because of the beaches. Why the beaches? Two words: Playa Delfines, Why so? Well, let this little gay travel guide article tell you exactly why.

Cancun is known for warmly welcoming the gay and lesbian crowd. Cancun has a liberal and friendly populace that exudes a wonderful atmosphere. Combine friendly residents with a superb public transportation and opulent all-inclusive resorts and you have a recipe for a perfect vacation.

Cancun has an exciting nightlife that includes gay bars like the Picante Bar and the Karamba Bar. The Karamba bar is known as the largest gay disco and the Picante is the oldest in Cancun.

Cancun also has great restaurants. Let me recommend to you Perico, Labna, La Pasteleteria-Creperia and La Parilla. In Perico, it is always a party night there. While in Labna, you will get a taste of the traditional gourmet cuisine and La Pasteleteria-Creperia is a small and intimate downtown cafe whose creamy and tasty crepes will make your mouth water.

When the non-believer in Cancun cuisine dines at La Parilla, they will leave as a fervent devotee of the food. The delectable food and earthy ambiance will have you hooked.

With the abundance of lavishly beautiful hotels popping up everywhere you can be assured of excellent accommodations in Cancun. You can make reservations at the Ritz Carlton, Melia Cancun, Hyatt Cancun Caribe or the Villas Tacul Boutique Hotel and be assured of resting in a heavenly abode. If you are having a hard time pronouncing any of these names, you have nothing to worry about. You will be well taken care of while staying in Cancun.

The taxi drivers know most places by name and have a wealth of knowledge about the ins and outs of Cancun. You will have no worries about reaching your hotel safely, thanks to the friendly people of Cancun.

Cancun is rich in history too. You may enjoy a visit to the nearby Mayan ruins at Yamil Luum or Ruinas del Ray that are located in the Zone Hotelera. Even though the ruins are spectacular, nothing will beat the Cancun beaches. The beautiful white sand beaches of the Yucatan coast are unbelievable and must be seen to be appreciated.

One of their great swimming beaches is the Playa Chac Mool. It's a great place for families during the day but come night time, the rocky areas become a bit wild. Then there is Playa Langosta. This beach has got calm waves and ideal for families and party people. It's a good choice to have you skin tanned or just swimming in its gentle waters. But with all that, I think nothing beats Playa Delfines.

Playa Delfines is popular for single and gay couples, in fact it is known as the unofficial gay beach in Cancun. Just look for that grassy slope down to the beach and you'll understand what I am saying. Not just that it is a great place for sunning, surfing, and everything in between. Plus, this is one place where the sun is not the only thing that is burning hot.

You will quickly spot some hotties that will preoccupy you during your stay. If you are interested in visiting Playa Delfines, and who wouldnt be, then you should know where its at. You will find this perfect beach just south of the Hilton at the southern end of the Hotel Zone. You wont have any trouble finding it.

Hopefully this short gay travel guide was helpful. Take advantage of the surf, sand, sun and the sultry hotties of Playa Delfines in Cancun. Have a pleasant trip!

Alitalia is the official Italian airline and they will fly you to Italy from other countries besides the United States. If a tour is what you're planning, it will be your choice what airlines you use. The airline you choose will depend on the cost, quality and flight connections offered by each. Most of the airlines will be competitive with each other so you should be able to get a good price. Although you'll need a passport to get into Italy from America or Canada, you won't need a visa unless you are planning to stay longer than 90 days.

Things to Consider Before Booking Your Tour

Weather will probably play a factor in when you take your tour to Italy. If you enjoy the very hot days of summer, you'll want to tour Italy in the summer months. However, if the extreme heat bothers you, the April through May and September and October are ideal months for touring Italy. Many activities you may wish to do will be inconvenient in the hot months. One example is bicycle touring. Italy is a country that you will love seeing while on a bicycle and many bicycle-touring companies will set you up on one of their group tours.

Lodging and Transportation In Italy

Another consideration for your Italy tour is where you'll stay and how you'll get around the city. You will not find a shortage of places to stay as there are many. They offer many establishments from bed and breakfasts and inns to five star hotels. You'll find cheaper prices with lower rated hostels and pensions than in exclusive hotels. A lot has to do with what you are looking for and how far your budget will stretch. You'll have no problem getting around in Italy, as there are many modes of transportation available. You have trains, boats, subways, rental cars and bicycles.

Cancun, a Gay Travel Guide and Tips

By Ricardo d Argence

You're going to have a great time on your vacation in Cancun! To get ready, you need to evaluate both the time and the money available to you: You can take a four-day cruise or longer, or you can fly to your destination. If you are going with a friend, be certain that you agree on limitations, and then have fun making plans!

Usually a cruise to Cancun will either leave from Galveston or Miami. Usually the ships are going to leave for Cancun in the evening time. Most of the ships that leave from the western area of the U.S. will end up taking you to Mexican Riviera.

Planning on flying? If you book the flight as well as the hotel together you can really save some money. Using a travel agent is okay, but if you do so, ensure that they lay out all that will be included in the cost you are paying for your vacation.

It's a good idea to figure out whether you are going to Cancun Calica or to Cancun Playa del Carmen. Both are great options. Calica will offer great beaches, a wonderful night life, and tours of historic ruins and interesting nature parks. On the other hand, Playa del Carmen is a town on the beach. You can check out tropical forests, enjoy touring some ruins, or even check out the biosphere reserve.

Of course take sunscreen with you. Since you'll probably end up in the water while you are vacationing in Cancun, it's probably a good idea to go with sunscreen that is waterproof.

Make sure you contact the service provider for your cell phone. Find out what you'll be paying to roam in Mexico. This is important if you are going to stay in touch with your office or with those you care about.

The large part of your money should be put into traveler's checks. Although places are happy to take American dollars, you may want pesos. If you decide to exchange for them, ensure you go to a good bank. Keep the traveler's checks and the theft info on them separate. Ensure that theft protection is on all your credit cards you have with you. Never tear your pesos or take any that are ripped, since the government won't honor them if they are damaged.

You should be tipping your night club service, wait service, and the hotel staff. Usually ten to fifteen percent is a good rule of thumb.

If you are going to travel by cab, let them know where you are going and come up with an agreed upon price. You don't have to tip the cab driver.

Walking may be fun, but never go walking by yourself. You also need to keep in mind that pedestrians are not given any right of way, so you must be very careful and watch out for yourself.

Consider talking to the staff at your hotel to find out great places to visit. For great gay nightlife, the Karamba club is one that is excellent to visit.

It doesn't matter how you plan to travel, ensure you check into any restrictions on your luggage. This can include restrictions on size, pieces to carry, and the weight of the luggage. It's a good idea to find out about boarding restrictions that may be imposed as well. Great vacations are planned well. Have a great time getting the trip together and then everything will go smoothly for you while you are on your vacation.

5 Things You Need to Know: Buying Massage Chairs at Tradeshows

By Steve Esquire

There is a substantial increase in massage chair importers that are bringing in low quality chairs and selling them through various channels. In response to some of our customers that have experienced bad situations, I personally surveyed a number of venues such as the internet, home shows and county fairs for such importers. The result of input from my customer's experience and first hand insight from my surveys has yielded the following list of 5 key tips on how to avoid being taken.

1. Massage Chair Components are Critical: Ask what country the main components are from. The critical components are the motors and the pc board. The motors should be made in Japan and the pc board should be from either Japan or Singapore. If the components are from other locations, then these components are of inferior quality and subject to short life spans or in other words - junk!

2. Look for These Warranty Points: You want to get adequate warranty protection when buying a massage chair at a home show or county fair. You can sometimes even negotiate longer terms, since many times you are dealing directly with the manufacturer. You should at least get 3 years parts, 3 years labor and make sure they have in home technician service. You want at least 90 days as part of your deal. Check to see if it is nationally available. If its only available where you are buying the chair, then they obviously do the service from one location.

3. Our Massage Chair is made in Panasonic's Factory: I saw a few salesmen claim that their massage chair comes from the same factory as Panasonic or some other name brand. Of course, there is no way for you to verify this independently. I am sure Panasonic wants their resources to be used to make knock off chairs that are then imported to compete in their main markets at rock bottom prices. Yeah, right, sure! If a salesperson tells you their chairs are made at the same factory as a name brand chair then I think you know the answer. Steer well clear!

4. Jack of All Trades, Master of None: Beware of vendors at fairs and home shows that sell everything but the kitchen sink. This is a sure sign of a one man importing machine. Now, I have a healthy respect for the entrepreneur, but one must specialize. I have seen booths with a couple of massage chairs along with a million other gadgets. It is like a one man flea market. These guys import everything and anything, especially what they just got a good deal on. Seriously, who knows what massage chair will be on the next shipment? They are armed and dangerous. Use Extreme Caution!

5. This is The Deal of The Century: We all know the saying: If it's too good to be true, then it probably is! This is certainly true when looking for a massage chair. The major manufacturers offer show specials, so you truly can get a good deal. Where you must be careful, are the small time vendors. They bring in a cheap chair loaded with features and sell it at ridiculously low prices. Avoid the temptation of short term gain for long term pain. You may be buying a long string of breakdowns, long waits for parts (if ever) and expensive technician service calls. Be careful of the deal of the century!

We have put these tips together from many of our customers that have made these mistakes and we are passing this one so you do not fall into these same traps. There are many excellent massage chairs on the market. They will bring you years of enjoyment and relief. Take your time and find the right model from a reputable manufacturer. This will ensure years of relaxation (rather than frustration).

Tips for Summer Festivals 2

By Ian Kleine

Have your kids also wear socks and shoes instead of slippers and sandals. Mud can also contain several colonies of spores or protozoans that could slip into your skin and cause infections and even diseases (take note that ticks could very well stick and burrow in the callouses of your skin, transmitting diseases such as Lyme.)

Schedule your trip in a strict manner, following curfews and avoiding getting lost and/or separating from the group. 12 am means 12 am, everyone should be at the car by then. Mosquitoes and other insects are very active during the time between dusk till dawn. Although you might be safe from the sun, its the insects that you need protecting from. Also, try and cut down from scented soaps and oils, or particularly anything that can enhance how you smell. Bugs and mosquitoes would surely home in on you.

If you have a baby in a stroller, don't forget to replete the usual accoutrement. Put a bug screen over the baby's stroller so the mosquitoes don't get in and irritate baby's delicate skin. Or worse, transmit an infectious disease that could put her health in jeopardy.

Take note that with insect repellents, it is not recommended to reapply it every now or so often, just because you don't feel that it works. Repellents have a certain compound called DEET, which is quite not safe in large amounts. DEET is available in some repellents, and is there to make sure that the repellent lasts long and stays long especially in outside environments.

Long sleeves also help by not only keeping the mosquitoes away, it also regulates some of the heat of your body (keeping it inside if you're going out in a cold night, or keeping the sun away when you're going out in day time).

An Overview of a Master Businessman's Life

By Mara Hernandez-Capili

I happen to read a truly inspiring piece of article showing the speech of Filipino-Chinese business tycoon John Gokongwei (for the graduating class of the John Gokongwei Business School in Ateneo de Manila University) in the Internet. His speech is very inspiring as he describes his road and battles as a simple soap sales boy to one of the richest person in the Philippines today. His message brings forth one lesson that all those aspiring to be successful business persons ought to know: embracing change .

According to this man, one should look at change as an opportunity. Change should encourage one to be more creative in his systems and not let it be a source of fear. Embrace change and welcome the changes that happen around you. According to Gokongwei, he saw the World War 2 in the Philippines as an opportunity to trade stocks from United States of America to the country.

Change is the reason that made him create "Johnny-come-lately" products and services while facing the giant companies producing the same product. One example of this is when he brought the idea of budget airline in the Philippines because he ahs a dream that "every Filipino should fly". He went against the giant Philippine Airlines (PAL) then a premier airline company.

John Gokongwei's life is an example of a "rags to riches" story that because of sheer will and determination to succeed led him to the place where he is now. His story reminds us that it is not impossible for anyone who has a strong desire planted in his heart of hearts. His life was strewn equally with failures. I remember a famous anecdote by Michael Jordan which states that he had "999 failures until he mastered his craft".

This article is written for anyone who has an entrepreneurial mind and spirit. This is just another true story of how a simple and poor boy hustled and won in life.

Turning your Craft into Business (Part 4)

By Ian Kleine

They say that if you want to court a lady, then you must court the parents first. Big detail in the past, but can still be quite useful even up in modern 20th Century. I mean, the line has a point. It's not only the girl (or the guy, in the lady's case) that you are marrying; you are also marrying INTO their family. That means gaining their favor, acceptance and approval before you can take your beloved's hand and walk down that anticipated aisle.

Just like with business propositions, there's an unwritten rule that one always follows when starting your own businesses; always let your family know about it. You may choose to disclude them from your business, but never, ever keep them from the dark (especially when your significant other is involved with managing your family's financial issues as well).

Think about the repercussions. Should you involve your family, there is but little disadvantage than having them find out from another source. Of course, the only time they wouldn't find out about it is if (a) the business is so self-sufficient, your money trickles in from the business instead of you investing out (b) your business is so secret, even your business partners have no idea what you are up to or (c) you're doing something illegal and underhanded. One which I seriously do not recommend.

Having a little family help does not hurt. Whether it is for asking help for menial tasks, doing stuff like helping around and even asking for opinion and advice. The family can pitch in too, when times for belt-tightening are needed.

There are more that can be pointed as to the advantages of having your family participate, whether actively or not, in your business. It could be a separate venture, it could be not.

Taking Blackpool Vacations And Some Important Facts

By Hamish MacLeod

Blackpool is an amazingly popular seaside resort built on the English North West coast, which is popular with visitors from the close by cities and towns which include Warrington, Liverpool, Warrington and more. The resort is also fantastically popular with folk from Scotland who often turn up in large numbers rather like the groups of factory workers of the past on their factory vacation. Sometimes it would appear that the resort is awash with accommodation and entertainments and although there is a large amount of Blackpool bed and breakfasts it is better to book ahead to avoid upset. Hotels varies from the cheap and chearful to the totally luxurious. Many are on the sea front but, if you prefer book somewhere far less lively there are some further away.

Tourists first started to visit Blackpool in the 18th century who had arrived to enjoy the new practice of sea bathing. With the arrival of the railways, from 1846, the town witnessed more visitors arriving to"take the cure". Today people can travel to Blackpool by air, road or rail arriving there much faster than the Victorian workers who would travel for up to 48 hrs from Manchester.

The Famous Blackpool Pleasure Beach

The busiest attraction in the resort, in Lancashire, which manages to receive approximately seven million visitors every 12 months, is Blackpool Pleasure Beach. Blackpool's Pleasure Beach is a sprawling funfair with terrifying big rides, such as Valhalla, Ice Blast, the Pepsi Max Big One, Grand National, Wild Mouse and Zipper Dipper, as well as many, many more rides, sideshows, food booths, games and sidestalls. The latest thrill ride is Infusion, the first ride in the world to have a suspended looping coaster completely over water.

A handy tip: If you are visiting the Pleasure Beach as a family or group it is possible to make considerable savings by purchasing a wristband for unlimited rides especially if you will be staying until you have been on nearly every ride because individual prices soon amounts to serious cash.

How To Get To Blackpool And Bed And Breakfast

As mentioned earlier, Blackpool is very easy to get to these days as it is possible to travel to the resort by automobile, train or aeroplane. If arriving by railway you will, most probably, arrive at the main station in Blackpool, which is called Blackpool North found on Talbot Road. Not too far away, still on Talbot Road is situated the main bus and coach station, Blackpool National Express Coach Station. The other train station, Blackpool South, is at Waterloo Road, South Promenade, which is closer to the Pleasure Beach. Blackpool Airport is situated approximately 2 miles south of the town center and was known as, Blackpool Squires Gate Airport, One of the oldest airports in Great Britain.

Blackpool bed & breakfast accommodation is priced fairly low. Rooms are frequently cheaper in the off season but not such a bargain at the weekend. Hotels in Blackpool are at their most expensive during the Blackpool Illuminations, which is really the resort's peak season.

A handy tip: Some hotels and guest houses can be rather busy and noisy especially those located close to North and Central Pier. If you prefer at a place which is not so noisy try booking somewhere beyond the North Pier.

The Vidalia Onion Arts & Crafts Festival

By Mara Hernandez-Capili

On April 24-26 Vidalia, Georgia will once again feature its 32nd Annual Vidalia Onion Arts & Crafts Festival. Vidalia onions are generally famous throughout the country because of its sweet taste. Vidalia onions were cultivated and sold to hundreds of stores across the United States since its humble beginnings in Toombs County 70 years ago. The Vidalia onion is a trademark variety of onion that offers a sweet and tasty blend to dishes.

For a brief history, the Vidalia onion was discovered in 1931 by a farmer named George Coleman. It was the onset of spring and he discovered that the onion he cultivated was sweet tasting and not spicy. He thought it to be a great variety and decided to sell it for a higher price for bigger profits. Farmers around the county heard of Coleman's discovery and started to cultivate their own sweet tasting onions, thus the name Vidalia onions were born.

Studies have made that the sweet tasting goodness of Vidalia onions are because of the low sulfur content of some counties in Georgia and the mild weather. Only a specific land soil in Georgia has the capacity to grow the same flavored onions. In 1990 the Vidalia onion became Georgia's State Vegetable. People from across the country visit Georgia to have a taste of their unique, sweet tasting onion variants.

Onion lovers will enjoy tasting Vidalia's freshly cooked onion rings. An onion eating contest will also grace the event. Fun rides and activities for the kids are included in the Festival. The whole family will surely enjoy the whole day affair of being at the Vidalia Onion Arts & Crafts Festival. An Arts & Crafts classes and lessons will grab the kids' fancy.

If visiting in Georgia, do not miss a chance to attend the Vidalia Onion Arts & Crafts Fair. Bring the whole family for a whole day of fun and delicious onion recipes.

By CTC Ventures

If you are trying to decide whether or not to take your next vacation on the glorious beaches of the Bahamas or, say, the Gobi desert, many people will look at you as though youre crazy. Go for the beach! theyll say. But the desert has sand too youll argue back, and so it will go until the two of you have come full circle and call it a draw without ever having reached a decision. Its a legitimate question-what is it about the Bahamas that makes it such a popular tourist attraction? More importantly, why should you spend your vacation there?

First and foremost, the Bahamas are a beautiful place to spend a vacation. There are miles of beaches combined with hills and mountains, caves and rainforest, and you have never seen a sun set until you have seen it set over the Atlantic Ocean. Aside from that, the coasts of the islands boast a rich marine population. Aquatic enthusiasts can dance with the dolphins and scuba dive with the sharks (all under the watchful eyes of a professional, of course), as well as enjoying the myriad fish, shell fish, anemones and rays that haunt the seas.

Secondly, the Bahamas offer a vast array of activities for its visitors. Most resorts offer special events for the younger members of the family, and the adults can visit the beaches and the prime shopping locality known as the Straw Market, where they can happily haggle with the artisans and craftsmen over the cost of their goods (everything from hats, mats and bags made from palm and sisan leaves that gave the straw market its name to jewelry, baseball caps, shot glasses and clothing) to procure one of a kind souvenirs at a fraction of the cost they would pay in any other tourist shop.

In addition to shopping, visitors can go hiking, swimming, water skiing, scuba diving, snorkeling and boating. Children can ride the banana boats. Adventuresome souls can try their hands at parasailing. For those who prefer to stay high and dry on the land there are a number of professional golf courses and tennis courts guaranteed to give their skills a run for their money. Most hotels boast spas and fitness centers, helping visitors to relax and get fit while on vacation.

Speaking of hotels, the Bahamas are comprised of a number of fantastic hotels and resorts, offering their visitors everything from central air conditioning and small kitchens to live entertainment and swimming pools-and regardless of which island youre on or what size your family is, you are guaranteed to find a location that suits your needs. A number of locations offer conference centers and Internet access to businessmen and women, while others offer a myriad of family oriented events and activities. Throughout each of these establishments are a number of cuisines intended to appeal to each individual palate, offering everything from traditional island fare to international entrees and gourmet the likes of which can be found in dining rooms in Paris and London.

As you can see, the Bahamas have something to offer to everyone-regardless of tastes or personal preferences, and this can include you too. So what are you waiting for? Go browse around an find a good deal, then book your trip to spend your vacation in Eden. Youll never regret it.

Earth Day in Stamford

By Mara Hernandez-Capili

Earth Day was celebrated by advocates yesterday April 22. It was an activity that commemorated people's fight against global warming. It is also a special day where we begin to think and ponder on how we can care for our beloved planet. Thanks to Earth Day organizers, we are conscientiously reminded to be kind and not to be cruel to our surroundings. Because of Earth Day more people are becoming aware and more environmentally oriented.

Earth Hour is an example of the Earth Day campaign. It is a special one hour tribute of switching off the lights which will result to nationwide energy conservation if done simultaneously in one country. The Earth Hour is done to save on the country and the world's energy and electricity resources. Earth Hour 2009 was participated by countries around the world and the effects are very inspiring.

The Fine Art of Visiting New York City on a Shoestring Budget

By Chris Linch

When we see New York on TV and in movies, we tend to get the impression that it is one expensive town. Visiting New York on a shoestring budget looks impossible. To be honest, yes, it is, but only if you live there. What we see on TV is usually the glamorous part of town, Manhattan, and that's a little misleading. New York is full of incredible spots that cost little to nothing to visit.

Lodging

When you first arrive in New York, you'll want a place to stay, of course. An average room in Manhattan is a whopping three hundred bucks a night. The New York Hotel in Manhattan has rooms in the hundred dollar range and is located right in the heart of the area, but that's still not exactly visiting New York on a shoestring budget.

What you should do if you really want to save some money is take a look around for bed and breakfast setups. Book a room online and make sure to research the bed and breakfast you select before you book. You don't want to wind up with a reservation in the middle of a bad part of town.

Dining

Honestly, the best way to save money on food (and just about anything else) in New York is to be friendly. When you're looking for a place to eat, you'll want to step away from the neon signs and glamour of the main streets and into the little known hole in the wall bars and restaurants, and the only way to find those spots is to ask the locals.

Entertainment

A tip for getting into a show or a sporting event at a lower price: Go to the will call of the venue and just hang around for a bit. Seats are often reserved for family and friends of the stagehands, performers or athletes at an event, and many times, these people are unable to attend. This way, you can avoid having to deal with ticket brokers or scalpers, and you can often grab a seat at the last minute without having to even bother with a reservation.

If you have the time to plan ahead, make sure to look online for discount event tickets or a New York City Explorer Pass, which can save you even more on attractions. Some travelers will even purchase an Entertainment coupon book for the zip code in which they will be traveling. This will often save you on lodging, dining, and attractions. Just make sure that the amount you can potentially save will cover the cost of the book.

Safety

Leave any unneeded cash, credit cards and even ID in your hotel room. If you're careful, you probably won't get mugged, but it does happen.

Don't be tempted by the lure of shortcuts. Stick to main streets that are well lit, stick to crowds, and don't go anywhere alone if you can help it.

The legends of New York being absolutely overflowing with thieves are mostly exaggerated, but they are based in truth. You don't need to be scared for your life your whole trip, but do be aware and alert. Don't be trusting of any strangers: even a man in a business suit might mug you. If you have any friends in New York, spend a lot of your time with them.

Visiting New York on a shoestring is not only possible, but preferable. The pricey parts of town are strictly for tourists.
