The Town Of Calpe Spain

Once upon a time the Phoenicians settled a place called Ifach. Today this place in the country of Spain is named Calpe, that means north as well as a steep and rocky place. Nonetheless Calpe is a beautiful town. It is the perfect spot in Spain on the Costa Brava where to can holiday amidst lovely soft and sandy beaches on the Mediterranean Sea. It's a great trip to Calpe, which is recognized as a superb location dating back to 1935 when the very first hotel became the very first resort with a notable guest called Earnest Hemingway.

Calpe is one of the most interesting attractions or visitors. This rocky crag is named Penon de Ifach. In 1987 Spain declared Penon de Ifach a natural park, so that they could protect Calpe's the three hundred species of vegetation and bird life. It was being threatened by the urban sprawl near the town of Calpe situated between Alicante and Torrevieja.

Penon de Ifach is the smallest natural park in Spain that encompasses Columbretes Islands in Castellon, This was once a small peaceful fishing village. For nature lovers however, the thirty five hectares display botanical wonders, along with geographical tectonic interests. The Penon de Ifach is not an easy climb. However those who make it to the summit, of the craggy rock, get a view that is wondrous.

It's a wondrous and great trip up the rock and twists and turns as you move through a long tunnel dug in the early nineteen hundred. The view looks over the gorgeous Costa Brava. Entrance to the site is free of charge but the authority's limited visitors to only fifty visitors an hour. That means that during busy seasons like summertime or Easter week you will have to obtain a free ticket then wait n line before the trek to the summit.

One hundred and five kilometers away from Calpe is Valencia airport. You could also land at Alicante Airport if you wish. Using a rental car you can approach Calpe on the N332 toll free national highway. Because of poor infrastructure the N332 is an unreliable highway. Using the alternate toll controlled A-7 national super way, is the much safer and faster way to arrive at the town of Calpe. In addition, there are scheduled airport bus services available to the town from both airports.

A luxury hotel at the beach in the town of Calpe Spain will cost you about 150 Euros per night per person however; camping in the nearby national park will cost you only 45 Euros a night for the family. If you're camping, you should however think about the cost of your camping gear and then decide which would be kinder to your bank account.
