Gran Canaria Hotels: The Perfect Base For Animal Orientated Holidays

By Fleur Fisher

It can be difficult to please everyone in the family when it comes to taking your summer holiday. For a cheap and cheerful week away that provides good weather, great nights out and plenty of wildlife to explore, you might want to consider a stay in Gran Canaria hotels.

To make the most of your stay explore the island's creatures. So if you're looking for more than just a week by the pool, soak up some sun while spotting as many species as you can!

Seeing camels around the grand sand dunes of Maspalomas is a unique experience that you can enjoy whilst on holidays here. Around here you can enjoy a scenic trek on one of these tame camels. Most Gran Canaria hotels will offer some kind of excursion to see the camels around the southern areas of the Island. It's also worth heading further south to Fataga, to see the Camel Safari Park, where you can learn about the history of these majestic creatures.

Parque de los Cocodrilo, also known as the crocodile park, is one of the most popular attractions in Gran Canaria. It was originally a very small family-run park, with only a few mistreated crocodiles. The park now has everything from birds, tigers and chimpanzees, but still adopts mistreated animals and strives to nurse them back to health. This is a zoo with a difference and all of the animals are put into as natural a habitat as possible.

Seeing dolphins up-close is an experience that most people would like to say that they have done. Swimming with dolphins is one of the top things to do around Gran Canaria. You can do this either in a contained facility or in the sea. This can be very expensive so if you're looking for a slightly cheaper way of seeing these intelligent mammals, then consider going on one of the glass bottomed boats to see them up-close. Even if you don't see a dolphin, you'll be blown away by the colourful marine life.
