Important Information About A Used Toyota Camry

By Alfred Renteria

If you are thinking about purchasing a used Toyota Camry, there are a few things to consider. A Camry has it's own specifications from it's maker and it is a very popular car for them. The technical standards for the engine, combined with the higher standards for the interior will give it a fairly good resale value. You may find that you're comparing it at a slightly higher price than other makes and models.

The first thing to consider is whether or not the car is a Toyota Certified Used Vehicle (TCUV). Only Toyota dealerships can obtain this title for their pre-owned cars. It involves a rigorous review and check of 160 points on the vehicle, including inspecting the battery, brakes, emissions system, frame and structure, and tires to name some of the more important checks.

A TCUV will include a Carfax report. If you're purchasing from an individual or other dealership, you can request one. It will provide you information about the car's structural integrity, it's owners and any title dilemmas. Usually, the seller is responsible for the cost of the report.

Without a Carfax report, you may want to have your own mechanic thoroughly inspect the automobile. The mechanic can also look at service records to give an opinion about the maintenance that has been performed on the car. Tire tread should be decent. If it is not, you may want to negotiate new tires as part of the selling price.

A test drive of the vehicle could reveal other relevant information about the engine and handling of the car. Listen carefully for any unusual sounds. The interior can be evaluated then as well, from the cleanliness of it to how well it suits your frame.

A used Toyota Camry can provide you with a quality car for years to come if you take care in making your pre-owned vehicle selection. By considering the above mentioned items, you will have a good foundation for making an informed decision.
