Family Vacations In Cape Cod, Massachusetts

Some of the favorite US vacation destinations are situated on the shoreline. In fact anywhere in the world, the beach has a special pull for most people. However cape Cod is one of the absolute favorite vacation destinations in the US for both local and international visitors.

Whether you are taking a vacation, week-end or mid-week break, this destination has something for everyone on offer. The area played a pivotal role in shaping the destiny of the US and this is land-marked by the many historic sites vacationers are able to visit. The countryside is filled with wooded walking and bicycle paths (bikes are available as rentals). Quaint shops, unspoiled beaches, theatre, art, music festivals and other events, offers the visitor plenty to see and do.

If you are a golfer, the courses in this area are some of the best in New England. You will find many options for fine dining and if you want to recapture you childhood beach memories Cape Cod will do this for you. There is nothing quite like memories of seashells, sandy beaches, sun, dunes and sandcastles to take you back to those carefree days. All I need is the smell of fresh saltwater taffy to take me back and for fresh seafood you won't do better anywhere. Cape Cod is famed for its fresh seafood and fried clams.

It is easy to access from anywhere in the world and the two closest airports are Logan International in Boston which is just 75 miles from the cape, and TF Green in Providence. The island has two bridges spanning the canal, but for an arrival with a difference you should try one of the many daily ferries which travel to and from the cape.

There is 559. 6 miles of immaculate sea-shore surrounding Cape Cod and it is a popular place to visit for whale spotters. The Hyannis Whale Watchers Cruise is a must-do activity for any visitor to the area. This trip makes use of high speed boats which depart from the picturesque Barnstable Harbor from May through October.

These high speed cruisers take people from the beautiful Barnstable Harbor out to sea to spot whales. This adventure serves the purpose of educating people about the conservation of the wonderful world of whales, it is an unforgettable trip.

Accommodations range from camp grounds to B&B's, hotels, motels, spa and boutique hotels, inns, vacation home rentals, you name it, you will find it. But be warned, this is such a popular area for visitors, you have to book prior to arrival because in-season accommodation fills up quickly. No matter how beautiful the beaches in this area, the last thing you want is to have to sleep on the beach, besides it being against the law, you get sand in your underwear.
