Betws y Coed, 5 reasons you must visit

Situated in the heart of North Wales is the wonderful village of Betws y Coed. The village is on the eastern edge of Snowdonia in a beautiful valley where three rivers meet. Betws y Coed is a perfect location for exploring this area of North Wales and draws thousands of visitors every year. Here are 5 great reasons for visiting Betws y Coed.

1) Many people come to Betws y Coed for its proximity to Snowdon, the tallest mountain in Wales. Access to Snowdon is very easy from the village which is just a short drive to the west along the A5. There's lots of places to stay in Betws y Coed from top quality hotels and guest houses to self catering and youth hostels.

2) Located in a beautiful valley Betws y Coed has lot's of countryside walks and mountain bike paths close by. Follow any one of the three rivers you'll encounter wonderful scenery, tall trees, and gentle rivers. Venture higher into the hills and mountains around the village and you'll find mountain walks and tracks to pursue.

3) Swallow Falls is one of the most wonderful waterfalls in the whole of Wales. Walk along the River Llugwy for 2 miles from the village or take a car or bus along the A5 to the Swallow Falls Hotel and enjoy terrific views from the specially built viewing platform.

4) A few minutes walk south of Betws y Coed lies Fairy Glen, a mystical ravine featuring a mixture of waterfalls and deep pools. You can follow the walk from next to the Fairy Glen Hotel. Walk beside the river as the banks rise higher and the waterfalls become more dramatic.

5) Betws y Coed is one of North Wales prettiest villages with a peaceful charm and tranquility. There's plenty to do in the village without ever having to leave. Visit the many restaurants for fine dining and sit and enjoy as the world goes by. For the younger ones take them to the Conwy Valley Railway Museum and enjoy an ice cream in the sunshine.
