Visit the North of England today

By Tom Yorkop

The north eastern city of Newcastle is possibly the quickest developing city in the north of the United Kingdom. Recently it's beginning to attract tourists from all over Europe and the rest of the world. Many people are flocking to the UK to take advantage of the falling pound, keen to spend their money in the many shops and stores around Newcastle's sprawling consumer areas.

Many people also fly in for one main reason and that is to see Newcastle's famous football team in action. For many in Newcastle football is more of a religion than a sport with fans said to be some of the most loyal and fanatical supporters in the world. One tradition among supports is for the men to go to the games bare-chested, this may not sound like a big deal but temperature in this most Northern of cities are around 4 degrees C in the winter!

Its not hard to see why the city is so famous for its soccer team when their fans seem so dedicated but also so crazy. Its not hard to see why the atmosphere of these home games is famous all over the world and even if the team don't win you are guaranteed a spectical!

The Gate is a favourite leisure complex with both locals and tourists alike and it is situated right in the heart of the town. It features many restaurants and sports bars which everyone flocks to when a home match is on. Indeed you will find many of the bars around the city are setup to watch live sport so you should have no excuse for missing a crucial game!

Those looking for a little culture can do so by taking a ride on one of the many bus tours. These carry passengers throughout the city to all the main historical hotspots. Hancock Museum and the Millennium Bridge are two such locations you simple have to see. Don't expect to be on and off the bus in half an hour though, it's a long slog. Newcastle is an incredibly large city.

The city of Newcastle is a popular destination for bachelorette and bachelor party goers. The bars and clubs are some of the best in the country and welcome hard partiers with open arms. Many other places in the UK deny access to these kinds of groups due to their rowdy do anything for a laugh nature.

If a trip to St James Park to watch the local team play soccer is on your agenda it's vitally important that you book a ticket at the first possible opportunity. As previously stated the locals are soccer crazy, and you'll find it hard to get a ticket if you don't hit the queue early. If the visiting team is another of the big clubs you'll have to start queuing before the queue is even there!

That pretty much sums up my brief explanation of the fun and frolics to be had in the north eastern city of Newcastle. I think the most important thing to remember here is that it's a large city, so you had better hang around long enough to soak in as much as possible before your vacation finishes.
