Oregon is quite naturally beautiful. Every year, tourists flock to see the different sights around the State. Evergreen Mountain forests, waterfalls, and pristine lakes that are scattered around Oregon. In particular, forests are quite grand and splendid, and the ample supply of lumber has resulted in a number of practical and ornamental uses. It's a way to use the natural wonders of Mother Nature.

In recent years, however, the availability of wood has seen a decline. Truth be told, this is none other than our fault; we have squandered a resource that we thought was unlimited for our own use. Add to that the forest fires of recent years, and you shouldn't be surprised that there are now fewer lumber than there have been a decade or so ago.

To restore the forests and Oregon's lumber, we should all do our part. There have been efforts by private and government groups to conserve the remaining forests, and I am quite confident that if we all do our parts in this, generations and generations will still see the beauty that is in our forests. I am a woodcarver, and on a more personal note, I have drastically reduced the wood I use in my crafted items. I hope to eliminate them entirely from my work, but really, I don't think I'll see that happen soon.

Instead, I have decided to complement my woodcraft with another material. Other than vast forests, Oregon is also close to the sea, and as such there are an abundance of seashells to complement the wood. Earth and water combining for a more magnificent piece of art; such a thing has become popular with the fans of my work, and they crave for more.

But then, I practice restraint. The last thing that I want is to have a problem with sea resources in much the same way that there are now problems with lumber. At the very core, we must all be conscious of how much we take from Mother Nature; and be sure to give back as much as we take. So while I can indeed keep making crafts at a breakneck pace, I refuse to do.

Seaside Heights, NJ offers family fun with a boardwalk, beaches and so much more. It's convenient location off of the Garden State Parkway make it an easy commute for many. Going to the boardwalk was always something I looked forward to as a kid!

I love to sit on the benches on the boardwalk and people watch. I grab a snack with my husband or son and we sit and watch all the people go by. Of course we make time to play games or go on rides too!

You have the choice of visiting Island State Park or there is also a beach right off of the boardwalk. If you going to the beach during the middle of the week, you can enjoy a free day thanks to Coca-Cola sponsoring it.

Seaside Heights offers the convenience of hotels and a boardwalk without being massive like Wildwood is. It's smaller area, so it has a more intimate feel. It's a nice size so you don't feel overwhelmed, especially if you have small children.

The Seaside Heights boardwalk in New Jersey has offered me many wonderful memories. Growing up not too far away, we loved to drive over for a day trip, or sometimes we'd stay for a few days. As a kid it was always so much fun to play on the boardwalk.

My son loves the claw drop games, and games like skee ball. All bets are off when we play the water balloon game though, because we get competitive here. The thrill of winning is awesome!

What my family loves about the Seaside Heights boardwalk is that is has something for everyone. The small kids can go on the carousel, the older kids can play games or go on thrill rides, and the adults would grab a bite to eat and watch the kids having fun.

The Seaside boardwalk is a huge attraction that draws many families in. One of the things I love is that some arcades are open year round, so you can go down in the winter and have it all to yourself. It's super quiet, but you can still play all your favorite games from air hockey to video poker. We save up points so we have more to trade in when summer rolls around. Are you ready for some fun? Oh, Oh, Oh, Oysters!

I belong from a family of oysters-eater. We love eating oysters whether baked, boiled or grilled. We usually eat oysters boiled and dunk it in a saucer-full of native vinegar with chopped garlic and onion bits. When baking oysters, we normally put butter and a lot of cheese on top of it before putting it the oven. Rice and a cold glass of Coke are the perfect partners of our oyster party. Opening an oyster is a piece of cake as long as it has been boiled for a long time.

A couple of years ago, I watched how fishermen eat freshly caught oyster by putting it in a shot glass of white wine and downing the whole thing. I believe the taste of uncooked seafood is pretty much like the cooked version. Think of sashimi and other raw Japanese seafood delicacy. Some people are addicted to eating these (not me!). I am never a big fan of raw or slightly cooked food.

The Amite Oyster Festival in Amite, Louisiana is annually held in commemoration of the successful Oyster industry in the town. The town is pretty much known as a home of the oysters, where these sea creatures are plentiful. Every year they get to choose the Festival King and Pearl where several judges are present to choose who is fitting to have the title.

The event will feature fun games, chili cook-offs, musical entertainment, an oyster parade, a beauty pageant, a carnival and dance performances from the towns line up of talented [performers. Adults and children will surely like the event. The whole family is welcome to participate in this much-awaited annual event. Nude Photography has been a constant topic of debates and moral issues for many years now. Organizations especially womens advocate organizations trashes the idea of posing in front of the camera for arts sake and tackles this issue as a form of pornography. They demand that it is also an act of exploiting and misusing ones private body. A gallery exhibit at North Carolina is a collaboration of two prolific painters namely: Caroline Vaughan and Wojtek Wojdinski. Their exhibition focused on the most controversial subject which is Nudity.

Vaughans works include images of women and landscapes. Nudity amidst landscape images of waterfalls, farm, barren land and desert are what mainly comprises this talented artists portfolio. There were in fact two photographs that brought shock and awe to the spectators. The photographs consist of an image of a nude, sick woman undergoing chemotherapy and the other image showing the aftermath of her breast amputation surgery.

Wojdinskis images are also very appealing and great. He was able to capture the beauty of the human body using different techniques of playing with light and shadow. There was an image of a black man staring out of a window in a wistful manner that garnered praises and acclaims for critics. The image featured the well-chiseled body and muscular tone amidst the dimly lit room. The mans muscle lines were very well defined through the dimly lit room.

The exhibit was not pornographic at all. The two artists were able to convey the theme to their viewers without sensationalizing the show. They were able to garner respectful nods and reviews to their critics. Advocate organizations for anti-pornography kept mum about the show. It is just a proof that their collaboration was a huge success.

Moby Dick is an All-American Classic Tale. It was written in 1851 by an American novelist named Herman Melville. The story is about the battle between an angry ship captain named Ahab and a ferocious white sperm whale. Moby Dick is a story that was regarded the high value of being discussed in American schools as part of their curriculum. The tale has a curios history because it was not accepted by the mass at its release. It wasnt until 1930 when the book was republished with illustrations that it finally gained popularity.

American artist named Frank Stella made several artworks focusing on the tale of Moby Dick as its concept from 1985 to 1997. He created one artwork or two to each of the novels 165 chapters. The varying artworks altogether sum up to about 266 pieces of sculptures, metal relief, murals and prints. Some say that Stella has genuine likeness for the novel that bordered down to him making these timeless pieces of art. His works are currently considered as one of America's treasures.

There will be an exhibition of the Moby Dick works by Frank Stella at the Grand Rapids Art Museum, Michigan. It will not feature all of the Moby Dick artworks but some 30 pieces including his acclaimed masterpiece The Fountain. The exhibit will be opened to the public and everyone is encouraged to see it on January 23 up to May 3, 2009. At first glance, South Dakota may seem similar to many Great Plains States. It has large areas of land, with agriculture being one of the key sources of its economical growth. It has also, sadly, experienced rural flight; our kids simply want a better life, and are inspired to go seek their fortunes elsewhere.

If you know your history, though, you'll see that South Dakota is better known for something else. It is something of a tourist attraction, as the first two centuries of our country's history has been right here in our State. As it happens, South Dakota is where Mount Rushmore is and where four of our presidents are carved.

Of course, we are proud of the people whose imagery is carved onto the face of the mountain. But this tourist spot is not without its share of controversy. Native American Indians have said that the mountain is a sacred place, at least to them, and they claim that it has been desecrated because of this.

It cannot be denied, even though controversies like these exist, the image is already part of popular American culture and history. Because of this, South Dakota welcomes about two million visitors each year who come to view Mount Rushmore. And these tourists look for souvenirs to take home.

So, craftspeople now have an excellent opportunity for a small business venture here. Patriotism is at very high levels in Mount Rushmore, and crafted items that show these cultural icons are always good. It's heartwarming that a lot of Americans are interested in the history of our country, and the struggles our ancestors had to attain independence.

Most of all, I take pride in our newer generation, that they take an interest in our country's rich history. Sometimes, this sort of patriotism goes unrecognized; but for me, I try to make their visit memorable by letting them take home a piece of handcrafted item inspired by Mount Rushmore.

Take for example the case of New Mexico fairs and festivals. The art and architecture of New Mexico has an interesting history to tell. Some preserved buildings in New Mexico still possess the Spanish style that was rampant in the past. Buildings are usually made of clay or bricks and heavy masonry; roofs are made of clay tiles. Almost 40% of the states populations are of Hispanic origin which further stresses the dominance of Spanish style throughout the areas.
