Many of you may think of Australia as being not much more than dirt and desert. In truth, this country has much to offer people in all walks of life. I recently visited family in Australia and was very surprised at what I found.
The first place we headed was the beach of all things. I never really though about Australia being a continent all to itself but it has miles of beaches covered in white sand and beautiful blue waters. They have snorkeling, diving, and surfing available at just about all of the beaches there. And if the marine life and reefs aren't enough to lure you in then they also have moss covered submarines and underwater caves begging to be explored.
The night life in Sydney was spectacular. They had concerts and music festivals and so many other activities I couldn't keep up. We always had plenty to keep us occupied and there was never a dull moment. We took a yacht into the harbor and sailed past the opera house; what a gorgeous site!
The deserts were a real surprise as well. The Aboriginal culture is something that has to be experienced to truly understand and appreciate. They have stories handed down for generations with there own forms of dance and music that rival the American Indian culture. In the isolated centre we found colorful vegetation and abundant green ponds. Again, it was like stepping into a whole new world.
The people were all friendly and ready to talk even though we were strangers in a foreign land. We heard stories that must date back thousands of years and saw magnificent carvings. The pubs were always lively and the differences in culture were just noticeable enough to make things interesting.
Australia is a wonderful vacation spot with lots of culture and activities packed into one place. With the great prices I got I am hoping to go back again soon. I would recommend it to anyone looking to get away and try something new.
