Great Yarmouth Is A Jewel By The Seaside

By Frederick Hoymer

If you are wanting a beautiful vacation by the sea, take a look at Great Yarmouth. Here you will find a gorgeous coastline that includes both beaches of sand and rocky cliffs, with scenery just as attractive as it is varied. This city has been popular since 1760 as a resort by the sea.

If history interests you, Great Yarmouth does not disappoint. You can visit nearby the ruins of a Roman fort. Not only are the remains of note, but also the area around them is quite stunning. Other historical buildings of note include a friary from the 1200s and buildings from Elizabethan and Victorian times.

You will not lack for a variety of activities here, which makes it especially nice for families to come to Great Yarmouth. If you are not a huge fan of the beaches, there are museums, theme parks, crazy golf and gardens. You will also find activities catering especially to younger children. If you like racing, there are both greyhound races and horse races here. If the weather is not cooperating, there is a lot to do inside.

For wildlife lovers, you have lots of possibilities as well. There are the seals by the waterfront and the marine wildlife center. Great Yarmouth also contains a reptilarium and wild animal parks nearby, one of which caters to Asian animals in particular.

As with any city, there are an abundance of restaurants and pubs to choose from as well. The center of town has many different types of stores including a mall as well as smaller more boutique type of shops. It is the perfect place to visit if you want to have a day in a seaside atmosphere but have some shopping to do.

Adults will be happy to know that many nighttime activities are available here. Besides the restaurants and bars, you will find many discos and nightclubs for dancing. If you want something a bit different, you can even find three casinos here.

There are a variety of accommodations in Great Yarmouth as well. Choices abound from quaint bed and breakfasts to larger hotels. Some places are family oriented and you can rent a flat as well if you are planning a longer stay, especially.

Great Yarmouth has lots to offer, whether for a single day or a full vacation. This seaside resort is truly an English gem.
