I recently read a terrible article describing Europe as being very overrated and was surprised by the ignorant comments I read. It is unfortunate that people may read this article or like-minded ones and be put off a trip to Europe or in fact any destination.
Some of the other remarks were about the cities being dirty and highly polluted and since almost all people in Europe smoked the article said that you would find it hard to take in unpolluted air. Woeful comments like these are wholly incorrect and certainly paint a picture of somewhere I would rather not visit either. Scores of cities do have problems with some elements of pollution as during the designing stages a few hundred years ago they were not thinking ahead about still to be invented types of transport. This is why lots of cities have restrictions on cars and there are umpteen pedestrian only streets. As for smoking in the UK or Ireland you are unable to smoke in any public building by law.
This horrendous article does show the need for people to do proper research prior to settling on any travel arrangements despite where you plan to visit. It appears that the writer of the article I read is biased about travel in Europe or in all likelihood just did not bother to do any checking themselves.
Design your holiday around your needs so that when you start searching you have a better idea of what you require. If you are traveling with children make sure that there are kids facilities such as a children's swimming pool. If you want to visit certain historical buildings check to see if there are any public holidays when you plan to go. You do not want to go all the way there and find that they are closed for a public holiday.
You owe it to yourself to make sure that what you are getting is what you really need or want. There is no point in protesting when you arrive there. The net is a good resource however you do need to be careful about some of the accuracy of some of the data. Do not forget to ask for advice from a travel agent and especially one that specializes in the location you require.
Wherever you decide to go on holiday if you have done your research cautiously and designed it well you will get the holiday you deserve.
