A Look At Torquay - Devon County

A beautiful resort that is often referred to as the English Riviera, Torquay - Devon County is a delight to the visitor. A person can be active and spend their vacation taking part in the many activities and events. Or, you may wish to enjoy the quiet gardens and relaxing atmosphere of the town.

There are several beaches that make up Torquay in Torbay. The marina is alive with activities and events throughout the year. A person will find that this is an ideal town to rest, relax, reflect, and explore. When a person is looking for fun and adventure, they will find that they can find it here as well.

There are many hotels and inns in Torquay that cater to both individuals and groups. A person will find that there are many water sports activities available that will keep them busy and entertained. There are also clubs, pubs, and restaurants that provide cuisine from all over the world.

The zoo in Torquay is a wonder with exotic animals that are maintained in their natural habitat. The museums offer exhibits dating back to prehistoric times when inhabitants of Torquay left remnants of their lives. The exhibits and displays show each era of Torquay.

The Torquay museum has several exhibits that will delight you. The Agatha Christie museum will bring new meaning to many of the books that she wrote using Torquay for inspiration. You will also find remnants of Roman ruins in and around Torquay.

Promenades that have palm trees lining the way lead to the harbor and marina where you will find cafes and shops that provide you with unique and distinct items from the surrounding area. Activities include snorkeling, scuba diving, fishing, and golfing all within the city. You can spend time at the pier and relax and fish as you watch the beautiful blue sea ebb and flow.

The annual Agatha Christie Festival is held each September. Participants from all over the world come to share stories and learn about Torquay and the inspiration it had on the writings of Agatha Christie. When walking along Agatha Christie Mile you will find eleven distinct locations used by Lady Christie in her books. Each location is marked by a plaque.

There are many gardens to enjoy in Torquay that date back to the 1700s'. You will find that the parks and gardens are resplendent with foliage and flowers that are found throughout southern England. Some of the monuments date back to the early 1600s' and provide you a chance to retrace the steps taken by the Romans who traveled the same paths.
