The timeless beauty and elegance of Bath is only more evident when a person sees the city for the first time. The Roman grid pattern of the streets makes it very easy to navigate the city and find sites and locations that are interesting and awe inspiring. Many parts of the city are restricted to pedestrian traffic so there is no need to worry about wandering and exploring the many cobblestone streets that line the city.

This historic city has many unique distinctions that have made it a World Heritage Site. It has the only hot springs found in Britain. The Roman baths were built originally by the Romans and added to with Georgian architecture. A person walking toward the baths will find that the Georgia architecture makes the baths hard to distinguish from the other beautiful buildings lining the street. However, once inside, you are immediately transported in time back to the Roman era. There are guides available in the temple that are dressed in period garb and give detailed information about life for the Romans in Britain at this time.

The healing properties made Bath a very popular resort city from the late Georgian period. Much of the architecture reflects the influence of the Romans, Georgians, and more modern Victorian periods. Many visitors to Bath still enjoy taking advantage of the hot springs and there are several vacation packages that include day trips to the modern Thermaspa.

There are many methods of finding the starting point for your sightseeing. You may want to tour the city in a open top bus. Several guided tours are provided that trade the path of the Romans through modern times. Or, you might want to see Bath using the services of a walking tour guide. In addition, there are canal boats available that offer tours from the water of many of the Bath points of interest.

There are several museums in Bath that you will want to visit. Most of the museums offer living history and displays that include information about the particular period of time covered in the museums' offerings. At the Jane Austen Centre you will be met by women in period garb who give tours and discuss the life and times of people living in this era. There are many displays of items that had a direct impact on the writing of Jane Austen.

The oldest house in Bath was build in--83 and stands as both a cafe and museum. You can tour Sally Lunn Bun and see the kitchen that was used over 300 years ago to create the same sweet buns that you can eat from the bakery.

There is a huge fashion district that one must visit. The Fashion Museum offers you four hundred years of fashion. You'll be able to see how textiles and fabrics have changed through the years. There are many fashion forward trends that have had their origin in Bath. When visiting the museum you will also learn about the trends and fashions that are currently being worked on in the city.

There are many museums that provide living history and information. You will also enjoy the variety of bed and breakfasts, inns, and hotels that are available at varying prices. You can stay in a room at the Royal Crescent hotel with a breathtaking view of Bath, or choose a cozy accommodation in one of the B&Bs in town.

There are events and activities throughout the year in Bath. An individual who enjoy golf, cycling, football, or water sports will enjoy the diverse collection of activities that can be found in this beautiful city.
