Things To See And Do In The Riviera Maya

By Gary Black

If you've just planned a holiday to the Riviera Maya you'll be glad to hear there are a number of exciting attractions to keep you busy, whether you're staying for one week or two. So by all means enjoy a couple of days relaxing with a margarita, but don't waste a golden opportunity to visit some amazing sites while you're in this beautiful part of Mexico.

Like Tulum for example. In fact, no other archaeological site of such significance is located directly next to the sea quite like Tulum is. You can marvel at the beauty of Tulum's temple, which is perched at the top of a 40-foot cliff while relaxing in the warmth of the Caribbean Sea. For a once in a lifetime experience take an excursion to see the ruins of Chichen Itza, a Mayan city built from the 7th century onwards - you won't regret making the journey.

Any wildlife lover will feel like they're in heaven at the Riviera Maya - for a start there's the Xel-H Park, which houses a huge collection of marine wildlife in natural surroundings. Adventure lovers will also find plenty to do here including trawling through the jungle trail, riding along the bike paths and leaping from the stone of courage into water.

For more natural wildlife you should visit the UNESCO biosphere reserve, Sian Ka'an, located not too far from Tulum. Taking a boat tour at sunset is definitely to be recommended, and once again a perfect time to take plenty of pictures. For something just as fascinating you could visit Aktun Chen, a series of 5 million year old Mayan Caves.

The beaches of the Riviera Maya are attractions in themselves, and the bars, restaurants and shops of La Quinta Avenida will provide you with hours of enjoyment. So surprise yourself by finding out just what a holiday in the Riviera Maya can offer you.
