By Tom Mandel

There are several aspects to preparing for the US Student Visa Interview. The first of these aspects deals with learning to behave properly in front of the officer that is conducting the interview for your visa. There are many things that can go wrong including not submitting proper documents and you may also not have the proper documents available such as those related to your finances or degrees obtained or even related to your property.

Another important aspect is that of learning to go through with the interview in the best manner possible. Unless you learn to complete the US Student Visa Interview properly, your chances of being accepted will not be very high. You have to learn to face the interviewer in the right manner. Thus, from the time that you enter the room till you leave, you have to be on your best behaviour. When entering, you must smile and greet the interviewer in a confident manner.

It is also important to make eye contact with the interviewer. So, as soon as you enter, you should look them in the eye and greet them. By not making proper eye contact, you may be reducing your chances. Second of all, be sure to be absolutely honest as there is nothing as bad as a person that lies at the interview as lies, when found out, can lead to a permanent refusal.

You must also be very accurate when you talk about your financial situation. You must be accurate when answering questions regarding where you are getting your funds from and you will also need to provide suitable answers in respect of who your sponsor is.

The interviewer is sure to ask about your sponsor and what they do and how much they earn. Be sure to provide honest and accurate answers to these questions.

Before preparing for the US Student Visa Interview, you should also be clear about the two different types of visas for students entering the US. The first is related to those who are coming to study academics and the other is for those who are studying for non academic and even vocational courses. Be sure to apply for the proper category.

The interviewer will also ask questions related to the number of universities that you have applied for. They will also want to know how many universities accepted you and how many rejected you. You also have to provide a clear and lucid answer as to why you have chosen a specific university. In addition, you will need to provide answers to questions related to your bachelors degree and your undergraduate GPA/percentage.

In most cases, you are also going to have to answers questions related to any previous visit to the US and you must also be ready to prove that you will be returning home after completion of your course. Whats more, you will also need to satisfy the visa officer about the reasons why you are coming to the US to pursue your studies.
