Wonderful Hawaiian Beaches

By Annie Shelton

Beach holidays have always been one of the best ways to spend a magnificent time by yourself, with your lover or with your family. For some people, the beach is the best place for relaxation, a place to get nice tan and to swim in the sea or ocean. However, there are so many beautiful beaches around the world, and to decide which one to choose can be quite a challenge. So, here's an idea, if you're planning a beach vacation, try to visit Hawaii.

Thanks to geography and Mother Nature, Hawaii has some of the best beaches you'll find in the world. Whether you are looking for secluded beaches, which give a sense of privacy, or if you just want to delete the hustle and bustle of the city, or maybe you want a lively beach where you can meet many people and make new friends, Hawaii beaches are safe and wonderful places to visit.

The feel of sand on under feet and the feeling that you get from a beach cannot be duplicated with other vacation destinations. Hawaii offers a one-of-a-kind beach that was formed thousands of years ago following the collapse of a cinder cone. Papakolea Beach, or Green Sand Beach for it is often referred to by the tourists who have visited the area is a unique opportunity. The fact that there is no other beach like this in America makes it even more famous and worth visiting, you should not miss the chance to spend a few hours on this green sand if you're spending a vacation here in Hawaii.

This secluded, and considering the journey it takes to get there remains secluded sandy beach is located near Ka Lae (South Point) in the District of Hawaii Ka'u. The trip is a rugged 2-mile maze of dusty ruts, which eventually lead to the beach. The beach forms a giant bowl and you must get off the side of the "bowl" to get to the beach. Navigating the tough, rugged road you may be tempted to ask if it is worth a visit. It may not be easy to get in to, but where can you find another green sand beach in the world?

Hanauma Bay offers the opportunity to explore Hawaii's marine life. This is a large nature reserve and conservatory with worlds of marine life. You'll admire the rare species of fish and coral, and you may also soak up the sun while enjoying the serenity of the beach.

It is estimated that 35,000 years ago, the same bay was actually a volcanic crater, which opens to the sea, where its outer wall collapsed. It was declared to be an ocean conservation area and underwater park in 1967. Hanauma Bay ("Hanauma" literally means "curved bay) is protected by strong currents and waves, making it an ideal place for swimming and snorkeling. Large, sandy beach lined with numerous hiking trails that lead to breath-taking panoramas. On a clear day, you can see the islands of Molokai and Lanai internal channel and in the winter and spring months, humpback whales can be spotted from the beach.

If white sand beaches captivate you and your travel companions, the Hapuna Beach State Recreation Area located on the Big Island of Hawaii should be on your list. Famous for its large area, but also for its facilities, this beach is visited by many tourists every day. So if you're considering a populated beach, then this may be an ideal place to spend time. However, make sure that the ocean is peaceful or else this beach can be very dangerous.

Hapuna Beach is the largest white sand beach on the island and is very beautiful. The surfing is decent (especially when the wind blows). Assessed as one of "best beaches in America" by Conde Nast Traveler, Hapuna Beach is a long stretch of white sand. There is a small cove nearby where the waters are protected and clear.

Hawaii has a long list of resorts worth visiting from the budget-friendly to ultra-extravagant. Some of the more popular are Kaanapali, Kailua, Kee, Sunset Beach, and Waikiki. It's definitely an experience you will never forget. All that is required is your favorite beach chair, beach towel and sunscreen.
