While the items might not need to be replaced each time, it is always good to know that they are functioning properly and you can rely on them when you need to use them.

For example if you are planning a left turn and your turn signal is not functioning properly, other drivers behind you may not see your signal and may run into you. The same applies for brake lights as well. Any lights on your vehicle should be checked periodically to ensure that they are working correctly.

Whether you are aware of it or not aware of it, your vehicle's horn is considered a safety feature. Not as much today, but it is still required. Certain states require annual inspections. A vehicle whose horn is not working correctly will not pass the inspection. Your horn is important for warning other drivers of a hazardous situation.

While turn signals and brake lights have already been mentioned, it is important to consider your headlights as well. Not just daytime running lights, but the actual function of your headlights when you turn on the switch. Many vehicles today are equipped with lights that come on automatically all day in the front. However while these are on, your rear lights on not usually. In order for the tail lights to come on you need to turn on the switch. When you are used to daytime driving lights, it will be important to remember that they only help drivers in front of you.

In addition to electrical lights, various mechanical pieces can also cause problems as well. The control and handling of your vehicle as well as the steering is critical to helping you to avoid situations that might result in accidents. A mechanical failure in this area could lead to a very serious collision.

Any time a component of the vehicle fails it can cause bad accidents. Additionally if more than one component fails at the same time, the risk increases dramatically.
