When most people discuss vacation in the UK they mostly just think about resorts near to the sea such as Whitby, Eastbourne, Clacton-on-Sea and Bognor Regis. Occasionally people may debate having a vacation in a specific county in England such as Devon in the south of England but not very often do they debate having a vacation in the city of Exeter. The following article introduces various reasons why a vacation in Exeter is a wise idea.

The first reasons for having a weekend city break in Exeter is that there is cheap accommodation available with bed and breakfast in Exeter available from around 25 per night and lots of places around the 40-50 ballpark.

Of course there should be more than a minimal price to entice you to visit a city and Exeter definitely has plenty to offer the potential visitor. You will discover that there are many excellent visitor attractions in the city center and even more near by and if this is not enough then the city of Plymouth is only a short distance away and you will find that there is also low cost bed and breakfast in Plymouth and even more brilliant visitor attractions. Also there are plenty of astounding places to see all along the nearby coast.

Where To Stay In Exeter

The Drewe Arms This hotel is excellent, the rooms are budget but the actual building is a picturesque seventeenth century thatched inn on the Two Moors Way walking route. It is important to note that it is roughly 15m away from Exeter's city center. If you need more luxury the inn also features four-poster rooms.

The Crawford Hotel This accommodation is lots closer to the city center, roughly 1.6 kilometers. It is a 2 star establishment with reasonable en suite accommodation and, importantly, you can access your room 24 hours a day, great if you are planning on a late night or need access during the day. There is there is Free wireless internet access available in public areas of the hotel.

Places To Visit

In the city there are only a few of visitor attractions worth visiting including; Rougemont Castle, St Peter's Cathedral and the Royal Albert Museum. As I said earlier in this article there is a small collection of close by seaside towns to visit the finest being the quaint villages of Seaton, Beer and Sidmouth.

Further away, between Exeter and Plymouth is the virtually unpopulated moorland of the Dartmoor National Park with the overall area having a fair few visitor attractions worth considering including Buckland Abbey, A La Ronde and Buckfast Abbey along the main road, to Plymouth. Along the way you will see the Torbay area, which includes Brixham, Paignton and Torquay and is commonly referred to as the English Riviera.

Exeter really is a fantastic place in which to take a vacation but why not consider having a two destination vacation and spend a few of nights/days in a really luxurious hotel in Plymouth and tour the gorgeous countryside and coast in between the 2 superb cities?
