Does Australia have the best beaches in the world? It certainly has one of the longest coastlines in the world so it already has a head start! There are literally hundreds of beautiful beaches here in Australia and you are certain to find one that is perfect for you.
Below are three of the the best beaches in Australia. They have been chosen from my all time top 10 list of beaches.
Cable Beach, Broome
Broome, on the West Coast of Australia is best visited in the dry season between May and October. Travel outside of these times is certainly possible but expect rain and high humidity levels.
The beach itself is beautiful with 22km of beautiful sand. Come between March and October and you will get to witness the illusion of the "Stairway to the Moon" This is a beautiful view at Roebuck Bay where the mud flats at low tides give the illusion of a staircase up to the moon. This only takes place during a full moon so there are usually about 3 days per month where the spectacle is visible. This is usually at the beginning of the month.
On this side of the coast you get to watch the sun set over the water. This is a must do in Broome and there are plenty of ways you can enjoy the sunset. One of the more unique ways is to take a ride on a camel. There is usually a lovely BBQ afterwards too where you can enjoy the view with some proper Aussie tucker.
Whitehaven Beach, The Whitsundays
The Whitsundays are definitely for you if your idea of heaven is warm turquoise seas and blinding white sand.
They are in fact a collection of 74 islands, most of which have nothing on them. There are only a handful that have accommodation and facilities on them. These are probably the most expensive holiday resorts in Australia but they are also the most beautiful.
There are lots of stunning beaches throughout the Whitsundays but by far Whitehaven Beach is the best. Like the majority of islands, there are no facilities so the best way to spend some time here is on a day trip. There are plenty of tours available or you can skipper your own boat and head out for the day and enjoy a picnic.
Bondi Beach
No trip to Sydney is complete without a trip to Bondi Beach. Its about a 20 minute bus ride out of the city and the place that the locals and tourists like to hang out on a hot day.
The beach itself is a large crescent shape and is a great place for experienced surfers. I wouldnt recommend learning to surf here though as the waves are pretty big.. Still, its a great place to watch the experts.
On both ends of the beach youll find an RSL club. These are Returned and Serviced League clubs and are not just for those who have served in the Australian Defence Services. They are found throughout Australia. and providing you have some photo ID, you can enjoy a drink and some food at bargain prices. In this case, you can have the best view of Bondi beach.
Seen enough? Would you like to know what the other 7 are? Perhaps you already have your favourite beach of Australia? Whatever you have in mind for your perfect beach, you are sure to find it in Australia.
