More Ohio campsite reviews

By Cheryl L. True

Just when you thought it was over, here are more Ohio campsite reviews from people who have actually been there. To protect their identities, the names of the reviewers have been withheld.

Cross Creek Camping Resort, Delaware, Ohio - visitors say the grounds are clean and the shower and bathroom area is spotless. Facilities include a swimming pool and tennis court. Every site had a fire ring for the traditional campfire. There was a small cadre of long-term campers that lent a home flavor to visitors. They would break out their instruments and play for whoever wanted to listen. Quiet hours were strictly observed and security was present throughout the night.

East Harbor State Park, Lakeside-Marblehead, Ohio - the site is wooded, quiet and very convenient for boating. The staff was outgoing and friendly. They even have a covered do-it-yourself fish cleaning building.

Jellystone Park, Mantua, Ohio - the sites are small but nice. People with tents can camp right near the lake if they choose. If you don't have a camper or tent, you can choose from different cabins and park model trailers to rent.

Lake Erie Islands State Park, Put-In-Bay, Ohio - is known as a party island (on weekends), but during the week it is very family oriented. South Bass campground is beautiful. The bathrooms are almost brand new. The showers are separate from the toilet areas, but are all situated under the same roof. If you have a family, this is an ideal campground. You can all go in the shower together, which has a great changing area, and lock the door. If you are a parent or have someone that needs assistance, these showers and restrooms are top notch. They also have very good security, which is nice to keep the noise down and riff-raff to a minimum.

Pleasant Hill Lake, Perrysville, Ohio - is anchored by a 950-acre, unlimited horsepower lake. There are several types of amenities available. There is a large, public boat launch that is continuously being upgraded and is now one of the best in the state. A small marina with gasoline, bait, minor repair services and snacks is available. Boat and Jet Ski rentals are also available. Camping is equally well set up with various types of sites to choose from (full or electric hook-up). The park also has housekeeping cabins available for rent that sleeps six adults.

Woodbridge Campground, Paulding, Ohio - a great campground because of the pool, large, clean sites and lots of activities for everyone. The people that camp here are very friendly also. There is a nice 11-acre lake to fish in. It's a great, quiet campground.
