St. Patricks Day Crafts Part 2: Leprechaun Eyeglasses and Handprint Shamrock

By Mara Hernandez-Capili

St. Patricks Day is a fun celebration for everyone. Let your little ones enjoy St. Patricks Day by teaching them how to make their own Leprechaun eyeglasses . Leprechauns are said to vanish if you let them out of your sight. The legend also says that leprechauns have hidden treasures and the only way to get them is by catching and interrogating one.

To make Leprechaun eyeglasses you must first gather the materials. You will need: a green construction or cardboard paper, a pipe cleaner, a pair of blunt-end scissors and green cellophane. Cut along the green construction paper in the shape of eye glasses. Cut through the center to make eyeholes. Paste green cellophane through the cellophane. Poke the sides and insert the pipe cleaner and gently twist the ends. Place it on your ear and gently curve the end to form. Place it onto your kids ear and gently curl the end to settle in her ears.

To make handprint shamrock you must first gather the materials. You will need: light green and green-colored construction paper, scissors and glue. Place a childs hand on the green construction paper and trace. Make three hand traces following the shape of the three leafed clover. Next, cut out the hand traces. Place the hand trace on the light green construction paper and trace a big three-clover leaf. Cut it and glue a stem at the bottom using the green colored construction paper.

Have fun making these St. Patrick's Day crafts with your kids. Further enrich the experience by holding a St. Patricks Day craft school at your home. Invite your friends kids over your home and arrange crafts lessons for them to enjoy. Encourage the parents to participate too!
