Central Missouri's Lake of the Ozarks

Created in 1931 the Lake of the Ozarks has become a regular destination for families all over the Midwest. Running over 100 miles in length and over 1100 miles of shoreline the lake is the largest body of man-made water in the United States build by a private company.

If water sports is your thing you will find just about everything here at the Lake of the Ozarks. The entire family can enjoy fishing, boating, and other water related activities. If you don't own a boat you can easily rent everything from a ski boat to a pontoon to take the family out on the water.

Arnold Palmer and Tom Weiskopf designed courses are part of the 13 courses at the Lake of the Ozarks. Other courses by Bruce Develin and Robert Von Hagge are also here to challenge you. Golf packages are available and you should ask your lodging facility to assist you in getting tee times.

The Ozarks are known for their caves and sinkholes and the Lake Area is no different. Bridal Cave is one of the most visited caves while Jacobs Cave and the Ozarks Caverns are also popular places for spelunking.

If you are looking for a weekend getaway the lake is only a couple hours drive from both Kansas City and St. Louis. An easy trip for familys wanting a mini 2 or 3 day vacation. Lodging at the Lake of the Ozarks includes everything from motels, hotels, condo rentals, and entire homes available for nightly rental. Many property owners rent out their condos and homes to visiting guests when they are not being used. Vacation rentals are available lake wide and offer many options when bringing the entire family.

There is lodging for every budget and amenities to fit every taste in the lake area. With activities for every member of the family the Lake of the Ozarks is a wonderful choice for a weekend or summer vacation. Coming to the lake is also an easy quick trip for a mini 2 or 3 day vacation.

Pick from several Bed and Breakfast facilities at the lake if you like the personal touch. For camping there are many camping locations around the lake for RV parking or pitching a tent. The lodging available at the lake will satisfy every need.

If you're looking for a good place to eat the lake offers everything from fine dining to BBQ. Most chain restaurants are at the lake if you are looking for something familiar but choosing a locally owned establishment can be a rewarding experience.
