When most people discuss having a vacation in England they frequently just think about resorts near to the sea such as Weston-super-Mare, Southport, Bognor Regis and Skegness. Infrequently families may consider having a short break in a specific county in England for example Devon in the south of England but not very often do they think about taking a short break in the city of Exeter. The following article introduces various factors why an Exeter vacation is a clever idea.

One of the first reasons for having a vacation in Exeter is that you will find cheap accommodation with bed and breakfast in Exeter available at roughly 25 a night and many rooms around the 40 - 50 price range.

Of course you will need more than a minimal price to entice you to stay in a city and Exeter certainly has plenty to offer the possible tourist. You will discover that there are numerous top class tourist attractions in the city centre and even more within easy reach and if this isn't sufficient then Plymouth is not too far away and you will find that there is also low cost bed and breakfast in Plymouth and even more fantastic tourist attractions. Also there are plenty of astounding sites to see along the nearby coast.

Where To Stay In Exeter

The Drewe Arms This accommodation is excellent, it's rooms are reasonably priced but the building is a picturesque 17th century thatched inn situated on the famous Two Moors Way (a walkers route). Please note that it is roughly 15m from the city center. If you require more luxury the inn also has four-poster rooms available.

The Crawford Hotel This hotel accommodation is far closer to the center of the city, just over one and a half kilometers. It is a 2 star hotel with reasonable en suite rooms and, crucially, you can access your room 24 hours a day, which is superb if you are going to be getting back very late or you need access during the day. You will find there is Free wireless internet access available in public areas of the hotel.

Places To Visit

In Exeter there are just a small number of visitor attractions which merit your time including; Rougemont Castle, the Royal Albert Museum and St Peter's Cathedral. As I mentioned earlier in this article there is a selection of close by seaside town and villages to see the best being the pretty villages of Beer, Seaton and Sidmouth.

Further away, in between Exeter and Plymouth is the hardly populated moorland of the Dartmoor National Park with the overall area having a fair few visitor attractions well worth a visit including Buckland Abbey, Buckfast Abbey and A La Ronde on the main route, to Plymouth. Along the way you will see the Torbay area, which consists of Brixham, Torquay and Paignton and is frequently called the English Riviera.

Exeter truly is a brilliant place in which to take a vacation however why not have a think about having a two destination vacation and spend a few of days/nights in a really nice hotel in Plymouth and tour the beautiful countryside and coast in between these two excellent vacation destinations?
