When people plan on visiting Australia they tend to migrate towards Queensland and Brisbane, due to the numerous events that are offered free of charge. In October of 2009, they are offering so many events, that it is the perfect time to visit. Some of the offered events include:
October 1st: The Needle & Damage Dome; Disc Jockey and comedian, Fiona Scott Norman entertains us with her least favorite songs for the year.
October 1st, 2nd & 3rd: Brisbane's most popular annual event is back. Brisbane Festival is a great place to take in the sight, sounds and food of Australia. It is an ideal event for a night of family fun.
October 3rd through 4th 2009: Another favorite event, the Coolum Kite Festival. You will get an opportunity to look into the sky and the beautiful sight of kites flying in the sky. There are also parachute jumps and music to enjoy while you are watching.
October 9th through 11th 2009: Celebrate Oktoberfest in Brisbane. Taste some of the regions favorite foods; enjoy live entertainment and a puppet show that will intrigue small children to young adults. Any money that is collected during this event will be gifted to local area charities.
October 10 & 11: Come and enjoy the sites and smells of the incredible Orchid Bonanza, hosted by the Island Orchid Society, this is not only a flora and foliage display but also includes art work created with floral displays that will astound the eyes and please the nostrils.
October 15, 2009: So You Think You Can Perform talent contest. You can go to this event as a spectator or participate, the choice is yours. It is for individuals or group who think that they have enough talent to go places.
October 1 through 16: Enjoy the birds of the night during the Nocturnal Bird Night Stalk, this year the focus of this even is on nocturnal birds and their habitats.
October 21 through 25: For those who love crafts, this is the time for the Craft and Quilt fair at the Brisbane Exhibition Centre. Come out and support these local artists.
October 22nd, 23rd, 24th and 25th: The Indy 300 Grand Prix is a loved event each and every year. It is full of fun and excitement for all.
October 24th: Check out some of the best home made films at the Young Film Makers Festival. The films are all produced by individuals 18 years of age or younger. This is your chance to see the works of some of the most talented up and coming producers.
October 30: Come down to the Brisbane Convention Centre and experience the Country and Regional Living Expo; a fun way to spend the afternoon learning about this incredible region and the talented people living in this area.
October 31st: Finders Keepers Brisbane Market spotlights local independent designers and artists. When wander the area you will also be able to enjoy a live music, or stop at the cafe and bar for a bite to eat or a little something to drink.
