Brisbane diners are spoilt for choice. There are exceedingly good restaurants almost everywhere you go. Some suburbs to note are as follows:
Bulimba: This is a more informal, relaxing suburb with charm. There are over fifteen al-fresco dining restaurants, as well as fashion shops and a historic cinema complex. Bulimba is a great place for families to visit, as well as romantic getaways. Among the restaurants there are a few worth singling out. Oxford 152, contemporary restaurant with an award winning brewery. Chill bar, modern Australian cuisine and Earth and Sea Pizza and Pasta BYO Family Restaurant.
Paddington, Caxton Street: This is the place to go if you like dancing, live music and fine dining. There is always a great vibe in this street as soon as it begins to get dark and especially if there is a sporting event on at the nearby Suncorp Stadium. Casablanca, Hotel LA and the Caxton Hotel all combine separate bars, live music and dance floor facilities. Gambaros is one of Brisbane's oldest and still thriving restaurants, established in 1972 and this is where you should visit for seafood favorites and a great wine list.
Chinatown: Here you will find a great assortment of Asian cuisine restaurants. For Chinese you have Golden Palace and King of Kings Seafood, a Japanese cuisine favorite is Koh-Ya where food is grilled at your table and for Thai you can eat at Thai-Wi-Rat. You can also choose restaurants specializing in Malaysian, Cambodian and Vietnamese cuisine.
CBD: Broken down into three zones, with many dining options to choice from. The first zone, Queen Street Mall, has mostly food courts and a few fresh air cafes. The second zone is on the waterfront, Riverside, Eagle Street Pier. Here you will find Customs House, Groove Train, Jade Buddha, and Cha Cha Char, which makes one of the best steaks I've ever tasted. The third zone is bordered by Felix, Edward and Albert street. Here you can find Belgian Beer Garden, Giannis, Palettes Brasserie Bar and the Brasserie on the river.
