Planning a Seattle Road Trip? New things to do in Seattle.

By Tim Souerease

Taking one of the Seattle limousine services sightseeing tours of the wineries across the region of Washington is getting to be an increasingly popular getaway activity. The temperate climate in Washington is very well suited to growing high quality grapes. Cool nights give the fruit high acidity, making the juice rich, tasty and well balanced. It's no wonder Washington is now the second largest producer of wine in the United States of America. Wines form the northwestern US are appearing more often in the press due to their increasingly impressive frequency of awards.

The Worlds Fair was in Seattle back in the early 1960's. As a major exhibition for the fair the impressive Space Needle was erected. There is an elevator that takes you up 520 feet to the observation deck of the Space Needle where you get a whole different perspective on the Seattle Washington skyline. At the very top of the needle is a nice restaurant called SkyCity. The whole restaurant rotates so you can see Seattle from every angle imaginable. The cuisine prepared there regularly receives good reviews.

When it comes to farmers markets the business people of Seattle know how to do it. Seattle's Pike Place Market is the one of the largest farmers markets you will ever visit. Travelers come from all around to see all of the interesting shops and stands as well as musicians and other artists. All in this one place you can buy quality antiques, foreign imported items, fresh food, deserts, wine, produce and all kinds of other local treats.

One of the more interesting tourist attractions in the Seattle area is the Native American Tillicum Village. It is a place here history comes alive. You will learn all kinds of interesting information regarding the early settlers of this part of the US. They perform historic dances that have been passed down for generations of Native Americans. It is a very interesting place.

While in Seattle you should try to find out what it is like to ride on a ferry. From the water, you can see awesome views of the Cascade and Olympic mountains. You will get a great wide angle view of the famous Seattle skyline. I can imagine it is very impressive after dark. Ferries are available for sightseeing travelers.

Seattle also contains a great public zoo. You can find all different types of animals from the domestic farm animals to the giraffes. If you're there at the right time, you can pay to feed the giraffes. They also have exhibits for other interesting things like an African bead bracelet making event and the Nature Exchange trading event. While you're there, don't miss the elephants, the penguins or the birds of prey exhibit.

Energetic tourists who are into sports can check out any of the impressive professional sports teams that call Seattle their home. The Sonics and Mariners are two of the most popular. It might be hard to get seats though depending on their season. You could have a fun night out with your spouse by having a nice dinner accompanied by a game.

Spend a Saturday bumming around the Seattle area microbreweries. For guys, what could be more enticing? You can sample a variety of lagers, ales and stouts ranging from light to full bodied. Make sure you sample an ESB (extra special bitters) ale offered at the Redhook Ale Brewery.
