Seattle Trip Ideas - Things to do when you get there.

Wineries across the state of Washington are getting to be an increasingly popular vacation destination. The temperate climate in Washington is very well suited to growing high quality grapes. Cooler overnight temperatures give the grapes high acidity, making the wine rich, flavorful and well balanced. It's no wonder Washington is now the second largest producer of wine in the USA. Wines form the northwestern US are showing up more often in the media due to their increasingly impressive volume of awards.

The Space Needle in Seattle is a popular tourist destination. It has been part of the city's skyline since the early nineteen sixties. It was built as an exhibit for visitors to the World Fair. Visitors who aren't afraid of heights can go up more than five hundred feet to look over the city like a bird does. There is a restaurant at the top of the Space Needle that serves great.

When it comes to farmers markets the business people of Seattle know how to do it. Seattle's Pike Place Market is the one of the most impressive farmers markets you will ever see. Tourists come from all over to see all of the unique shops and stands as well as musicians and other artists. All in this one place you can buy quality antiques, foreign imported items, fresh food, deserts, wine, cheeses and all kinds of other local treats.

Seattle has an interesting Native American tourist attraction called the Tillicum Village. The Tillicum Village is an island village where the local history of the local Native Americans can be experienced. You can learn all kinds of excellent information about the early settlers of the northwestern United States.

While in Seattle you should try to find out what it is like to ride on a ferry. From the water, you can see great views of the Cascade and Olympic mountains. You will get a great wide angle view of the famous Seattle skyline. I can imagine it is very impressive after dark. Ferries are available for sightseeing travelers.

Complete the family's trip by visiting the Seattle zoo. Get back to nature in this well run zoo. Show the kids the real life versions of the animals you see in books or on the Discovery Channel. There is a wide variety of exhibits at the Seattle Zoo. They have everything from the simplest farm animal to elephants and giraffes. It will be a memorable part of any getaway for the children.

Sports nuts from all over the area may enjoy seeing a professional game in one of Seattle's sports arenas. Whether you're into football, baseball, basketball or hockey, Seattle has a professional team you can cheer for. If you plan accordingly, you might be able to see an away game for your hometown's favorite team. Take in the experience of a Seahawk's game while cheering against the visiting team.

Spend a Saturday bumming around the Seattle area microbreweries. For men, what could be more fun? You can choose from a variety of lagers, ales and stouts ranging from light to full bodied. Make sure you taste an ESB (extra special bitters) ale enjoyed at the Redhook Ale Brewery.
