Art and Roses Festival in Boise

By Mara Hernandez-Capili

In Boise, Idaho there will be an event entitled Art and Roses. It is a gallery of fine art featuring the talented and most distinguished artists of Idaho. The proceeds of the event will be for the benefit of the Julia Davis Rose Garden Fund.

Fine arts have been the classic form of art or painting. Works done by great masters such as Monet and Cezanne are considered as fine arts. It is usually characterized by techniques and effects achieved through formal training and imitation of the styles of the great masters like chiaroscuso or the play of light and shadow. Fine arts is also a form of status symbol especially during the 18th century when only families of royalty and noble origins can afford a single a painting by a famous painter. Painters are usually commissioned by the royals to do their self and family portraits. A painter is considered as a high paying career during those times.

The Art and Roses show at Boise is a fine art show and not an Arts & Crafts festival. Only the residents of Boise are encouraged to attend and submit their works. Food and beverages are distributed to the attendees, alongside special dance and song performances to further enrich the experience. Artists of Idaho are presented formally and their works are unveiled through this exhibit.

Refreshments and food will be served during the event. Expect your stomach to be filled by mouthwatering gourmets prepared by Idaho restaurant owners. They will whip out their delicious and mouth watering dishes. It is not only art and painting techniques that you will learn here but you will also gain additional knowledge on the culinary world.

If you are a visual arts lover then I suggest you go and check out this show. See for yourself how the professionals do it and be amazed at their awesome talents.
