Use These Tips For A Great Traveling Experience

By Carla Turkelton

The following article provides you with many helpful hints and tips to have an enjoyable trip, whether you're taking the kids to Disneyland, going on a cruise with your partner, or sealing up a business deal with your colleagues. Traveling by trains, boats, cars or planes all share some of the same basic tips.

Leave your valuables at home. With a lot of different activities in unfamiliar surroundings, losing things is very common on vacation. Even worse, you could be the victim of a theft.

Tip the bell boy and housekeeper when staying in a nice place. The typical tip is a dollar per bag of luggage and anywhere from two to five dollars per day for housekeeping. If you treat the staff well, then they will treat you well.

If your plane has arrived in your destination, but your checked baggage has not, stay calm. Go to the closest desk you can find and explain your problem. You will probably be redirected to the lost luggage service. Be sure to have all travel documents handy when you get to the right place. This process will locate your luggage, and it will be transported to you as soon as possible.

A lot of airports are being designed and remodeled with play areas and can give your kids something to do during any long waits. Your delay will go more smoothly if your children are happy than if they were tired and bored.

If you travel with eyeglasses, make sure that an extra pair is in your luggage. If those items are accidentally broken or lost, at least you will have a backup. Do not pack your extra glasses in your carry on luggage in case it gets stolen.

Do not fall into any traps in emails that concern travel. Don't open unsolicited emails from travel companies.

Make sure your children also have ID with them when traveling. Give your kids a little money so they can use a payphone if they get lost. Parents need to have a recent picture of their child or children, and they should write the child's height and weight on the reverse side of the photo.

Prepare ahead of time if you'll be traveling by airplane. It can take a lot of time to reach an airport that is located in a major city, because of location and traffic. Make sure you get your packing done the night before. It is crucial to have everything planned out in advance. Missing your flight is something you do not want to experience.
