Create A Memorable Vacation With These Travel Tips

By Carole Ashley

Do you know a lot about travel? Are you equipped with your own travel plan? Do you want to do your best to make it better? Would you survive if an emergency came up? If you cannot answer these questions confidently, look at the tips below.

If you are going to vacation at a National Park you should get a National Park season pass. It costs $50 and can be used at any national park for 12 months.

Don't forget to pack clothespins on your next trip! These are not typical travel items, but they can come in handy.

If you have taken a flight and your checked luggage has not made it to your destination, do not panic. Ask for the airport's lost luggage office and file a claim. Make sure you have ID and flight documents handy. Most of the time, your luggage will be found, and it will be delivered to you as quickly as possible.

Sleeping pills can get you through a red-eye flight. It can be very hard to get sleep on a plane with all the noise, the different surroundings, and the uncomfortable seats. You may want to take a sleeping medicine if you will be on an extended flight, so that you may rest comfortable while flying. Take the pill during the flight, and not beforehand, in case there is a problem and you do not take off.

If you are traveling to a foreign company, hold off on converting your cash until you reach where you are staying. By doing this, you enjoy a much lower exchange rate for your currency. Investigate the best place for you to exchange your currency in the country you are visiting. If it will take a while to get to the exchange location then you should exchange what you will need before you leave to ensure that you will have funds available until you reach the exchange location.

Don't bother wrapping gifts if you have to take them on an airplane trip. TSA will randomly inspect packages thus ruining the nice wrapping job. To avoid this, pack wrapping paper separately, or buy it when you get to where you are going.

Make a list of what you need to pack. Put together a list of things you must take with you. You can start doing this a couple of months out, but should be finished about a week before your trip. Having a list will keep you organized and clutter-free, even if you don't actually pack until the last minute.

Make copies of anything important before you travel. Photocopies of your passport, insurance, and other travel documents should be stored separately from those that you are carrying with you. Leave another set of copies with someone you trust in case something happens to your copies.

If you really need a room at a booked hotel, ask if they are willing to let you pay for a room that is marked out of service. Rooms that need minor repairs, like a fresh coat of paint, are usually noted as being out-of-service.

Hopefully this material has offered some useful thoughts on getting the process of planning a trip underway. These tips were thoughtfully compiled to help the new travelers learn the basics and some other cool techniques that are simple enough to use for their next trip.
