Some Notable Facts About Skywest Air Carriers

By Lucius Hydro Xavier

Regional airlines, including Skywest Airlines, are great options when comfort and speed are key to your travel plans. Even as the airline industry has recently encountered problems by providing a high level of customer service and providing fliers with additional selections, many smaller airlines such as Skywest have been successful. Let's explore Skywest Airlines including facts and new developments.

The only cities served by Skywest Airlines when it was formed by Ralph Atkin in 1972 were St. George and Salt Lake City. Frequent business travelers between these two cities were their primary client?le. Over 100 cities in Canada and the United States are served by Skywest Airlines after they partnered with larger airlines including Delta, Air Tran, United and most recently, Alaska Airlines. Through these partnerships, the U.S. cities in the West Coast, Mid-West and Southwest regions are served. After its small start forty years ago, Skywest now provides almost 1500 departures daily.

Alaska Airlines is the most recent addition to the Skywest Airlines group. With this addition, there are now several flights for your convenience to cities such as Fresno and Santa Barbara in California; Seattle, Washington; and Portland, Oregon. This alliance between the two airlines took place in May of 2011. Alaska Airlines is an all-around regional carrier that can connect you between Alaska and the West Coast of the United States. However, it also has great vacation packages that can enhance your next vacation to Hawaii, Mexico, or Canada. With five partners to work with, after the addition of Alaska Airlines, Skywest Airlines can offer travelers a wide variety of choices when planning their trip.

As a regional carrier, space and other limitations may come in to play when you use Skywest Airlines. More restrictive policies may therefore be in place than those you would encounter on a partner airline of greater size. On a Skywest flight, large items such as kayaks, large pet kennels, and windsurf equipment will not be allowed. Also, on SkyWest flights you cannot check live animals as baggage as you can on some larger airlines. Make certain before you fly that any special requirements you have will be met if you are flying with this airline. Items you can bring onto a regional airline will generally be limited because the planes are smaller in size.

Travelers all over America are now discovering how much more convenient it is to fly on a regional airline such as Skywest than to travel by car. When you consider the state of the economy and the instability of fuel prices, you can understand why travel on the smaller regional airlines is growing in popularity. Add to that the fact that a lot of people are just taking short trips in lieu of the longer trips that used to be the fashion. Skywest Airlines is becoming a leader in helping travelers discover the pleasures of traveling with a regional carrier.

People travel for many motives. One of them is to relocate to another working location. When you are moved out of the country, there may be a lot of anxiety. One thing that may add to this tension is if your new country has different driving laws and circumstances. You can make it easy on yourself by getting a car that is set up like cars in your home country. This is much simpler than you may be thinking.
