How To Spend Holidays In Hotels

By Adriana Noton

When holidaying abroad, many people enjoy staying in hotels. This is because it is a cheap and convenient form of accommodation. There are plenty of different options.

If arriving on an aeroplane, there will usually be an option to be collected at the airport by a representative of the particular travel company and to be taken by coach to the hotel. It is likely that during this time the representative will explain the many features surrounding the resort and the area to make it easier for the holidaymakers to consider possible places to be visited, and to gage an idea of how close they are to the hotel.

After arriving at the hotel it can usually be found that there is a board or desk of some sort that is set up to explain the best trips and excursions to undertake for the best possible enjoyment of the holiday. There will often be plenty of different types of trips, such as water parks and theme parks, or walks to castles and historic sights.

There may also be evening spots that have been pinpointed, such as restaurants or bars, most of which provide entertainment such as a band with live music, or just enjoyable ambience. Another choice is staying inside the hotel for the evening, with much entertainment being hosted within the premises. The beginning of this is often something for children, like the popular mini disco made up of songs and dance that are recognized internationally, and also usually some games that offer prizes like a small bag of sweets or a non-alcoholic cocktail.

Following this, the entertainment tends to move towards an older style that is nonetheless family friendly, which could be bingo or karaoke, for example. This will be a short activity to last until the main show. These are sometimes performed by outside acts like magicians or dance groups, or could simply be the entertainment staff putting on their rendition of a popular musical or stage show. There may also be the opportunity for audience participation in some shows.

When the evening is drawing to a close, there is often a dance floor available with music played up until midnight. Parents and their young children will often choose to retreat to their hotel room at this point, whereas others may prefer to lounge in the bar, which will normally continue to serve beverages until earlier hours of the next morning. Another popular option is to visit an outside nightclub or disco, or perhaps to attend the beach for a midnight party or barbecue.

A club for children is normally available with staff members that are specially trained both to supervise and entertain. The daytime sessions tend to comprise of games and arts and crafts, where the evening sessions might be watching a film with popcorn. Sometimes there is the opportunity for parents to leave children at the club for a night, which will be enjoyed by children as a special sleepover, and parents can use the opportunity to spend the evening at an event for adults.

Dining arrangements can differ greatly, with different hotels offering varying deals. Taking the half board option is popular, and means eating breakfast and one other meal in the hotel. Often this will mean eating lunch in the hotel but going elsewhere for the evening meal, as there are plenty of restaurants around. There are also full board and all inclusive offers that include, snacks, drinks and meals, yet this will inevitably increase expenses.
