Charlottesville VA Hotels For Business & Leisure Travelers

By Chris Matthews

Finding good Charlottesville VA hotels isn't so hard, but the real issue is finding the right one to match a visitor's reason for being in town. That's because the town gets a mind-bogglingly huge number of visitors, inspite of being over 70 miles from Richmond. From business travelers to parents & students and just plain tourists, there are sure to be specific hotels here that are best for each type of visitor.

Let's take these traveler types one by one. Over 500,000 travelers are Monticello visitors - those who come every year to visit Thomas Jefferson's mountain top plantation. For these travelers, the best choice would be a hotel nearby, in the shadows of the Blue Ridge Mountains.

The next biggest traveler group is the collection of people visiting, studying or working at the Univ. Of Virginia. They're all mostly looking at budget accommodations adjacent the campus and in the nearby areas. Some of the hotels in the mountain foothills mentioned above would fit the bill just as well.

Then there are the seasonal travelers driving up and down the Blue Ridge Parkway visiting Shenandoah National Park. No doubt these travelers will like the same aforementioned hotel with the mountain views. Many are also in town for events like the Virginia Film Festival and other events at the Paramount Theater. These travelers will want a place to stay that's close to the Downtown Pedestrian Mall and other local attractions.

The one thing every guest at all Charlottesville VA hotels can expect is a big helping of hospitality, Southern style and old-fashioned. This means massive breakfasts and heavy dinners at an onsite restaurant. Room service is just as fulfilling, and there's always a nicely furnished kitchen awaiting those who prefer suites.

Guests will find a free newspaper at the door each morning, and the internet is usually free too. Most every hotel will also have cable with movies and pay per view. There will be coffee makers in the room, along with an iron & board and a hairdryer.

Outdoor swimming pools, fitness centers and a full service business center should be there for all guests to use, and so will laundry service and/or dry-cleaning. Meeting rooms are sure to be provided for those who need to conduct business meetings. Rooms will have work desks to help these travelers to put in a few hours of quality work without being disturbed.

A visit to Charlottesville for any purpose is always going to be enjoyable and memorable. It can be made a lot more comfortable and hassle-free by choosing the right hotel in the right location. Don't worry too much about service and the food, because everyone who comes here is made to feel at home at every hotel in town.
