Here Are My Recommendations For The Best Banff Activities, Hotels and Banff Travel Deals

By Jorge Pensinita

As an avid traveler to Banff, Alberta, I feel my commentary may assist you in selecting the best Banff Hotel or Travel Deal. Seeing I am a skier, I generally travel to Banff or Lake Louise in the winter season. However, this resort operates year round and is always a good option for some great Canadian lifestyle. If this is you first time reading about Banff or if you are just looking for information on one of North Americas top ski and golf destinations then you have come to the right place.

The town of Banff is located one hour west of Calgary, Alberta. In the area within Banff are three ski areas: Lake Louise, Sunshine and Norquay. All of these mountains are within a one hour drive from the town center. There are many golf courses in the area, with the most famous of which being the Fairmont Banff Springs course as well as Kananaskis. If you are seeking a winter or summer holiday, there is usually great travel deals to take advantage of in Banff.

Below is a list of available Banff deals as well as my top 4 favorite luxury hotels.

1. Fairmont Banff Springs: Stay at the famous and exclusive Fairmont Banff Springs for your winter holiday and enjoy free nights! Stay 4 nights, only pay 3 and get an additional $100 Food and Beverage Credit when you book before November 16, 2009.

2. Rimrock: Rated 5 Stars and the only four diamond restaurant in Banff. Great for great for kids because it is located right across the street from Banff hot springs and they have an ice rink for their guests over the winter period. 20% off all stays after December 23, 2009 must be booked by Nov 15, 2009.

3. The Fox: I would strongly recommend The Fox if you are seeking a moderately priced accommodation for your Banff holiday. This property is quite modern and is great for romantic getaways or family winter vacations. This is also one of the few properties in Banff offering 2 bedroom suites.

4. Hidden Ridge: If you want a fairly inexpensive Banff vacation for the whole family then I would urge global travelers to check out this property located in Tunnel Mountain. All suites are very spacious with full kitchens, wood fireplace, private balcony and large flat screen TVs. Several tour operators will offer discounted lift tickets and activities. This generally occurs when you book your Banff hotel packages with them. A lift ticket is good at any of the three mountains in the area.

Aside from skiing, Banff has many great activities in which to partake. One such activity is dog sledding. This is beginning to gain alot of interest from not only domestic, but also international travelers. This activity takes you into Alberta's backcountry with a team of well trained dogs, allowing you to experience a very traditional Canadian adventure in the outback. A few other interesting activities are also heli skiing, ice walks, snowmobiling, ice fishing, sleigh rides as well as ice climbing.

Summer in Banff is also a great time of year. This town is a real golfers dream and there are world class courses available to play. You can also experience the summer in Banff with activities such as ziptreking, fishing, whitewater rafting and nature trips allowing you to view eagles, wolves, rams, mountain lions and even grizzly bears.

Banff is a fantastic resort in all four seasons and you really cannot go wrong with selecting it as your travel destination. Personally, I have yet to experience everything Banff has to offer, however I certainly have done most of it and can give you some fair insight. No matter what you ultimately choose, you will be impressed with the diversity of what Banff has to offer.
