Holiday At Antigua And Its Tourist Shopping Traps

By Edward Watkinson

Tourist traps are known as the places or shops where tourists are offered high-priced services and goods. These traps are found in almost all well-known tourists destinations of the world, but at some tourist destinations, you will find such traps at almost every step. Different Caribbean destinations are quite well known for their traps where expensive souvenirs and other such stuff are offered to the tourists.

Antigua is quite famous for its sandy white seashores, a number of innate beauties, prosperous civilisation, chronological places, and remarkable amenities for tourists. There are quite a few beaches, and each one of those is having something for everybody. One more aspect of Antigua is a large number of shopping services that are available for the tourists.

Here you can find almost all those goods that are expected from any latest shopping centre in the world, but there are traps at every step as well where the sellers are always in a quest to sell some valueless goods to simple and innocent tourists at higher prices.

If you are planning your holidays to Antigua or any other such place where these traps are in abundance, it is better to make some search online. Try to find some online reviews of the place that you are going to visit, as from the reviews you can get plenty of information about such traps, and can avoid paying high amounts for cheap local goods.

A huge variety of items look extremely inspiring and expensive to the visitors, who have no idea about the local prices of such things, and such items are sold at a lesser price to the domestic customers, and completely changed prices are told to the tourists. The reason is the salespersons know this fact that the visitors are not aware of the real cost of such items. Hence, they make every effort to make money from the lack of awareness of the customers. One may stay away from such traps by collecting ample information about the goods that you are willing to purchase from Antigua.

At local markets of Antigua, tourists can discover a lot of different high quality textile products, Jades, and artwork. You can find a huge variety of local handicrafts too, but they are mostly offered at considerably higher prices. In reality, such items are not as highly priced as the local shopkeepers who are at all times in a mission to take higher prices from the tourists explain about them.

Embroidered purses, spun cloth, and pottery are some other well-known goods of Antigua, but you need to make a good bargain if you want to get these goods at a reasonable price. You must try to pay nearly 30 to 50% lower than the asking price of some local good, and this is, indeed, a nice way to avoid the traps of these local vendors.

If you are willing to purchase a number of arts and crafts stuff from Antigua, one must keep this reality in mind that Antigua is one of the most costly destinations in the Caribbean to purchase such items. The offered items are usually attractive, but their rates are usually three or four folds higher than the actual prices.
