It is always hard deciding where to go on holiday, so many people will give you their recommendations you will find it hard to make a decision. Looking on the internet for the best prices is always a good start, then if you need anymore advice you can always see a travel agent. One of the best places to find information out is the World Tourism Organisation.

Each year they release information regarding which countries had the most visitors in a year compared to others. Also they provide information which clearly shows those countries which have seen a marked increase in the number of visitors from abroad visiting them. They also help to break down this list into the various continents showing which countries within Europe, Asia, Africa and the Americas were the most popular.

For example the most popular country visited by tourists from around the globe is Italy, followed closely by France, Spain, UK and Germany. In fact currently around 18% of all holidaymakers travel to Europe each year for a vacation. The reason for this being is that many like to learn more about the architecture, culture and history of the many towns and cities within them.

Some other destinations that are very popular with travellers are South Africa, Tunisia and Morocco - Travelling outside of Europe normally guarantees hot weather which is always great when holidaying.

Asia is starting to become very popular with travellers - places like China, Japan and Thailand are highly visited. One reason for this growth is down to the Olympics and Para Olympics taking place in China. Japan and Thailand are hugely popular due to their totally unique way of living.

Tresco in the Isles of Scilly has started to see a growth in visitors due to their new builds in holiday homes.

Naples in Italy has always been a firm favourite with travellers. Naples has some of the best restaurants and shops around. Other reasons it attracts visitors is due to the fact it is very close to the attractions of Pompeii and Mount Vesuvius.

Since the start of the Eurostar many travellers have been going to France, as it only take a short time from England. When in France holidaymakers will truly experience why France is so famous.

Angkor Wat in Cambodia is currently a favourite with some holiday makes, as the World Heritage site is a beautiful place to see.

Western Iceland is a great place to visit if you are interested in relaxing and taking time out, this part of Iceland is very secluded, so being bothered will not happen.

Yucatan Peninsula, Mexico is a lovely place to visit. Mexico has always been a popular destination because of its culture. The food has a very Spanish and French influence.

Cook Islands in the South Pacific is a fantastic place to be if you are a sun seeker, you will also revel in the fact that the UK pound is a lot stronger than the New Zealand dollar.

Monte Carlo " For many English people renewed there has been renewed interest in this city because of Lewis Hamilton winning the Formula 1 Grand Prix. However, the price of staying here is certainly not cheap and costs can rise considerably during the week of the Grand Prix.

Zambia is becoming ever so popular with tourists due to the fact that it is very cheap. Safari is a common attraction with lots of wildlife to see. Large tribal homes are a great way to spend your holiday.

Togo and Benin is a great place to holiday is you are looking to see another view of Africa. This country does not get many visits but it is still worth visiting.
