What Do You Need To Be Aware Of When Visiting Dead Sea

By Peter Brown

Tired of the normal, boring and dull tourist trip offered by your local tour guide? Dead Sea is for you. It is a whole new experience that you will never forget. There may be a few things that you should take notice before you are off to the airport.

You cannot really swim in the Dead Sea as it is not composed with water, so there is no need for you to bring your professional swimsuits. When you try to get into the Dead Sea, you will float on it just like sitting on a cushion.

Protect your feet by wearing water shoes, as there is rough salt at the bottom of the Dead Sea which is sharp enough to wound you. Remember to take a photo and put it on Facebook when you are wearing the shoes, you will find yourself very cute.

You may also want to know a few quick facts of Dead Sea. It is not actually a sea despite its name, but a lake. Yet despite being a lake it is made up of approximate 30 percent of salt. Besides, located at 417 feet below sea level it is also the lowest place on earth. The mud of the Dead Sea is actually being employed by the hotels along the sea side for Spa treatments for the visitors around the world.

Speaking of the mud, the aforementioned spa treatment actually wraps the visitors by the Dead Sea mud and a blanket on top of it. The treatment lasts for total of 20 minutes when one may find himself lonely in the room, others may feel like being made into a mud bun.

There are three things you should remember, do not shave for at least two days before you get in the Dead Sea, do not get in the Sea if you have wounds, do not let your face touch the water so as to protect your eyes. Keep these in mind or else you will experience a very painful holiday.

Wear an old swimsuit as the water will discolor your clothing. Thoroughly sash whatever you have put on to get into the Sea, or else a layer of grim will permanently stick to your clothing.

Lastly, keep your visit to the Dead Sea short. There aren't much going on around this little place, and you may get bored pretty quick as floating is about the only thing that you can do. You may instead choose to walk around and explore the surrounding areas as they offer a lot of outdoor activities such as hiking and cycling.
