Coffee With Piernas

By Juan Millalonco Diaz

Are you planning to spend a holiday in the Republic of Chile? If so, then you should definitely go out and have a coffee while you're there. But not just any coffee: No, you have to try the famous Chilean caf con piernas. It is served by seductive and beautiful ladies. The way they dress is optional but one cannot help feeling the coffee tastes better when served by a dark-haired Latin goddess. Caf con piernas or coffee with legs is one of the most interesting things to check out in Chile. Just think about the long legs of a sensual waitress and how good the coffee will really be.

Ask your tour guide about coffee with legs. He will take you to the place where they serve the famous caf con piernas. You can order an espresso and discover the unique way Chileans drink their coffee. No, you are not in Las Vegas. And no, they do not serve any alcohol. But you have to admit that this is one unique way to serve coffee. Waitresses impress with their revealing outfits and clients keep pouring in to order espressos, cappuccinos or caf lattes. The phenomenon definitely attracts tourists, all of them being interested to discover what caf con piernas really mean. Forget Starbucks! This is way better!

Even though Chile is a major producer of coffee beans, the locals prefer instant coffee. And where is the best place to get served if not in such a coffee shop? If some people prefer their coffee with milk, cream or sugar, others like caf con piernas or coffee with legs. The unique tradition established by Chileans has been compared to other cultures, like the Irish for example. They prefer to have their coffee with a small part of whiskey. Chileans, on the other hand, like their coffee with legs. Talk about the best coffee shop in the world! I think you've just found it.

Whether you are a coffee connoisseur or just a tourist looking for a genuinely interesting experience, you have to try the caf con piernas. This is the kind of Chilean phenomenon that one should not miss. As opposed to other places, these stand up coffee bars function throughout the entire week, being the most crowded during the first hours of the day. As it was already mentioned, no alcohol is served but the outfits of the waitresses are definitely hard not to notice.

It's impossible to walk the streets of Chile without running into a Caf con piernas bar. Allow yourself to enter and discover a world where coffee and long legs make the best combination in the world. Include these coffee shops on your itinerary and check out their rather unique dress code. Some waitresses have short, revealing dresses. Others will serve your coffee dress with bikinis or sexy underwear. And don't be surprised to see so many businessmen sipping their espressos while admiring those natural beauties. This is a place where they come not only to have their caffeine fix! Can caf con piernas be considered a Chilean attraction? Without any doubt!

Buffalo New York Winiters: How To Best Enjoy The Wintertime In Buffalo.

By Jack Pineczak

Everyone seems to know Buffalo New York for its treacherous winters. But if you are a snow lover, there are all kinds of winter activities for you to do. For starters, nothing beats attending a Buffalo Sabres game in late December or early January. Or, feel the rush of more than seventy thousand psychos hollering for their beloved Bills football team while the snow is coming down. Start your NFL game day Sunday by tailgating in the parking lot prior to the game. Chow down on some of those spicy Buffalo wings. Guzzle some great Canadian beer or get some local lager from a microbrewery.

Snowmobiling is a very popular winter activity in Buffalo. There are plenty of snowmobile dealers to satisfy the demands of this excitement loving industry. People like to load up their sleds on trailers and take them into the really rural areas in New York State for some serious trail riding. They take week long vacations just to do some riding. Other people like to use the snowmobile as a means to go bar hopping. Heck, even the cops have snowmobiles now. They chase these bar hoppers around dishing out tickets for driving under the influence.

Skiing is also a pretty popular way to make the best of the Buffalo cold weather. There are a number of good slopes in the greater Western New York area. Professional skiers will tell you that the slopes around Buffalo are on the small side and not challenging enough. However, the people who live locally sure seem to enjoy them. I guess you could consider it a great place to learn how to ski without crashing at a hundred miles an hour. Even if you really don't want to ski, there is always the warm ski lodge full of single yuppies with a few dollars to kick around.

Snowboarding has become a very popular national sport in the United States. It has also become popular around Buffalo. In the early 1990s you would only have seen a few snowboarders here and there on the ski slopes. Now they are far more common. Just like skiing, the rolling hills south and east of Buffalo provide adequate quality slopes for beginning snowboarders to learn on.

The whitetail deer hunting in the rural areas surrounding Buffalo brings in some monster bucks. Actually this is a late fall sport more so than a winter one. The season ends in most areas before winter officially starts. The deer population has exploded over recent years to provide a hunting environment that is like shooting fish in a barrel. This sport is so popular that many area high schools are sparsely populated during the first week of the hunting season.

For children, the icy and snowy winters near Buffalo are a blast. There are countless ways for children to have fun outside in the cold. Some children will their fair share of the basic backyard sledding. Others will hunt down a giant snow mound to carve a tunnel into. There is the ever popular snowball fight with the other kids who live nearby. For active kids there is a new sport called pond hockey. Actually it is an old kids' playtime activity turned into a sport. There are lots of really nice parks where groups of people can go sledding for free. You really don't need to be all that creative to come up with a great way to enjoy the winter when you are in Buffalo. There really is a lot to do.

Cell Phones: Wireless Carriers and Reception Explained

By Cathy L. Kimble

Cellular phones rely on the carriers strength. The signal makes the phone. This can mean the difference to a phone being a good phone or a great phone. You can easily take as much time to find the best calling plans and area reception as you would to finding the best cellular telephone. The problem is, locating information about calling plans is tough because this involves comparing oh so many variables. That is why a lot of online review sites avoid this subject.

As said by J.D. Power and Associates, wireless service has reached such high quality that cell phone users no longer find it a requirement to maintain a land line as well as a cell phone. It appears cell phones are enough. But as with most statistics there are combating results. According to comScore Networks, an amazing 1 out of 4 cellular customers are not satisfied. These combating statistics show how cellular technology is still in its growing stages. Even ask someone about their service, you will always get miced results, those that love and those that hate their carrier, with plenty of stories to boot. J.D. Power and Associates also finds that people who had an unresolved problem with their carrier, after trying customer service, were six times more likely to switch provider. That is were cancellation fees come into play. You see cell phone companies want to maintain their customer for good or for worse and have implemented cancellation fees to increase customer retention. Even the intro of 3G Networks, which started off with great expectation has received its share of complaints. So how do you decide on the best carrier? Well here is a rundown of which carriers rank best.

According to comScore, Verizon Wireless has consistently been rated the best carrier in terms of coverage and service. Overall, only six percent of customers break their service contract.

AT&T/Cingular come in second, just behind Verizon. Alltels customer service contract breakers are more numerous, coming in at 9 percent, while Sprint/Nextel have an even higher dissatisfaction rating at 11 percent. At the bottom of the heap is T-Mobile, with 15% of customers wanting to break out of contract obligations.

Please note that the comScore survey above is not location specific. It is also using the percentage of people that are breaking the contract as the main factor for determining carrier popularity. However J.D. Power and Associates survey does indeed verify Verizon Wireless as the leader, but also goes on to add that this is true more so in the Northeast, as Verizons coverage is the strongest there. And T-Mobile, scoring the lowest with the comScore survey, actually ranked number 1 in the Southwest if you go by the J.D. Power and Associates survey. Also Verizon ranks lower when it comes to the phones that run its service in CDMA technology rather than GSM. As a result, Verizon cell phones do not normally accept SIM cards. This prevents them from being used when traveling overseas. As well the cost of Verizon wireless service also ranked as more expensive. So while Verizon's customer service did get top marks, its bills tend to be confusing to read.

J.D. Powers also claims that Sprint has a strong popularity in the Southwest, yet concedes that Sprint also ranks lowest in call quality. The latter statistic was also confirmed by a PC Magazine survey. By contrast, PC Magazine ranks T-Mobile as the best carrier in terms of pricing, and second only to Alltel in service plan options. T-Mobile also offers its service on a wide variety of cell phones with GSM/SIM card compatibility enabling international use.

Prepaid cell phones deserve their own category all together. Virgin Mobile won the highest marks, just ahead of TracFone and T-Mobile respectively. Verizon, AT&T , follow in order of decreasing popularity, with poor Sprint/ Nextel once again at the bottom of the heap.

The call carrier landscape is a complicated one. Which carrier you choose may depend not only on how many phone calls one makes, but what part of the county youre in, whether or not you travel internationally, and even what type of phone hardware best suits your purposes. It pays to research this so you can avoid being trapped in a contract you want to break out of.

Greece Travel : Greek Food And Drink

By Gary Hoddle

In this installment of our guide to holidays in Greece we look at Greece's cuisine...

Greece is located in Southern Europe and has extensive coastlines and islands in the Aegean, Ionian, and Mediterranean Seas. It offers a myriad of experiences, landscapes and activities and is famous for its beaches, reliable sunny summer weather, nightlife, historical sites and natural beauty.

Greece is one of the world's top 20 tourist destinations. This southern European country attracts more than 15 million visitors a year, 90% of which come from other parts of Europe (but increasingly, the proportion of visitors from other regions of the world has been growing).

Athens and islands such as Corfu, Crete and Rhodes are the major destinations, but other parts of Greece are also rewarding. Travelers wanting a quieter holiday can escape large-scale tourism in many attractive places.

The vast majority of visitors arrive during tourism season, which is April through October, with the peak of the season being July through to August. Outside of this time, most of the country's tourist infrastructure goes into hibernation, particularly on the islands.

The majority of scheduled international flights go via Athens and Thessalonki. But in the tourism season, charter and low-budget flights flying from numerous European cities arrive daily at a range of popular island destinations and smaller mainland cities.

A valid passport is required on entry and a visa may also need to obtained by residents of non-EU countries. However, citizens of select non-EU countries (including Australia, Canada, New Zealand, and the United States) are allowed a 90-day visa-free stay.

It's considered a safe country to visit (in terms of occurrences of theft and violence against visitors) and no immunization vaccinations are required or advised prior to traveling there.

The Wonders of Australia

By Gary Ardnt

Australia is a great place to visit because of its natural beauty. There are many great things to see and do in the country such as visiting the great barrier reef, seeing Uluru, laying on beaches, and enjoying wonderful tropical jungles. Australia is a great country for those who like adventure activities.

Australia, in the tranquil waters of the South Pacific is the hub of Oceania, and features some of the world's most beautiful and picturesque beaches. For those who enjoy waters sports, particularly surfing, you will find Australia a proverbial paradise of earth. However, there is more to this island nation than surfing and sandy beaches and many of the most interesting spectacles on Australia lie inward.

With most of Australia's population and major cities being found along the costs, the interior of the island - the infamous "Outback" - is home to many of the continent's wonders and sites of interest. The world famous Ayer's Rock, also known by its native name of Uluru, is a large sandstone rock formation found in Central Australia's Northern Territory. Ayer's Rock is located in the heart of the Uluru - Kata Tjuta National Park, and has been a focal point in aboriginal religion, culture, and folklore for thousands of years.

The nearest major population center to Ayer's Rock is Alice Springs, famous for its historic importation of camels from the Middle East and North Africa for use in intercontinental transport of goods and people. When the use of modern technology transplanted the camel, the thousands of dromedaries and their decedents were released or escaped into the wild and today, the area surrounding Ayer's Rock and Alice Springs is home to the world's only surviving population of feral (formally domesticated or descended from domesticated ancestors) camels. In addition to the camels, other introduced species in the area include the cat, dog, mouse, fox, and rabbit.

Had this list been created 30 years ago, the Bungle Bungles might not have been listed. Having come to the worlds attention only in the mid-1980s, the bee hive domes of the Bungles make Purnululu National Park the premier attraction in the Kimberly region of Western Australia. Difficult to get to, what makes the Bungles fascinating are the unique erosional features which are unlike anything else in the world.

In addition, to the animal life, this part of Australia is known for its isolation and remoteness. The native aboriginal peoples often spoke of the "walkabout" a solitary journey into the bush of the outback in order to find one's self. Today, modern travelers from the west often attempt to emulate this ancient ritual in an attempt to connect with nature and to leave the rat race fully behind them. Whether you make the journey alone, like the natives once did, or whether you choose to bring along your friends or loved ones, you are sure to find an excursion into the outback rewarding and therapeutic.

Short Breaks In UK, Why Not Try North Wales?

By Arthur Townlands

It is a simple matter to take short breaks in UK, this is because there is so much to see and so many different places to go. The history of this country alone makes virtually every city, town and village of some interest to someone. Fortunately, the UK is blessed with great roads and a perfectly working public transport system, so it is easy to get anywhere, anytime.

Because I love it so much, I am going to talk about North Wales as being the ultimate UK short break destination. The countryside is dynamic and visiting is almost like being in another country. The language they speak is Welsh, but don't worry, they also speak English. From the moment you enter North Wales the name change and reading town names can be difficult for overseas tourists, but don't worry the locals are friendly.

For the sake of simplicity, let us take Snowdon for example. It is simple to say and is one of the most beautiful areas in the entire UK. In the Snowdonia National Park, you can walk, hike, scramble and climb or just stare at the beauty of it all and it is a great place for a short or long break for that matter.

Some of the best beaches in the UK have their home in North Wales, and Anglesey in particular has great beaches. Lligwy Beach is exquisite and has a Green Coast Award. You cannot driver faster than 10mph, but who wants to when so much beauty can be found. If you are a surfer the Llyn Peninsula and Black Rock Sands should be your destination. When the tide does out you are able to explore caves and caverns of different hued rock.

A visit to Beaumaris Castle is a must and the medieval town of Beuamaris it quite beautiful. When they say it's all in a name, they mean it in relationship to this town. The name is derived from the French/Norman and it means beautiful marsh. The castle is from the era of King Edward I and it has murder slots (defense for the inner bailey), spy holes, a moat and a drawbridge. Work began on this castle in 1295, continued for 35 years and was never finished, not that you would know, because it is a technically perfect example of a castle of its time, and the best surviving example in the world.

Paintings are done on many mediums; there are water color, charcoal, and oil paint in this form of art moments are captured by the eye of the artist and induced by his own hands. Light is dictated by the artist pressure on his or her brush and the shadows are given vividly by the mixing of color.

A single artist won't be able to effectively grace the art world single handedly. A lot of organizations are now formed to showcase the works of its artist. An artist needs help from organizations, who are committed in helping artists. Vermont artist are one who have the said organization. Wellington - the World's Most Southern Capital

By Andrena Gum

Wellington, situated on the southern tip of New Zealand's Northern Island is the southernmost capital city in the world. The gusty winds that blow non-stop off Cook Straight have earned it the epithet "Windy City".

Wedged between steep hills, Wellington's limited space for expansion has forced the city to build ever upwards in order to accommodate increased demand for commercial and residential building. Victorian structures fell victim to new construction and modernization, giving Wellington the most modern skyline in the country.

The Maori people called the area around Wellington "the Head of Maui's fish", a reference to an incident in the Polynesian Maui Cycle when the hero, Maui, fought his brothers over a great fish, leading to the land being cut up both by the fish's thrashing tail and by their knives.

When James Cook made a side trip here in 1773, the rough landscape of the bay was densely settled. Maori tribes fought one another constantly for the best coastal locations. This, along with the strong, unfavourable winds, may explain why Cook did not drop anchor and go ashore.

European settlement began with the landing of the warship Tory on 20 September 1839. In January of the following year, William Wakefield, commander of the first expedition of the New Zealand Company, "bought" the area from the Maoris for one hundred muskets. Wakefield therefore became the founder of Wellington. The city was named in honour of Arthur Wellesley, the first Duke of Wellington and England's national hero in the Napoleonic Wars. Wellington was named New Zealand's capital on 26 July 1865.

Wellington is more than the political centre of the country; it has also made a name for itself as a city of culture. Wellington is the home of Te Papa, New Zealand's pioneering, interactive national museum, as well as to the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra and such national treasures as the original Treaty of Waitangi.

New Zealand's most famous writer, Katherine Mansfield, was born in Wellington and published her first short stories in a local literary magazine. New Zealand's capital is remarkably diverse topographically, with mountains and hills embracing the compact city and its wide harbour.

At the summit of Mount Victoria, which can be scaled by a cable tramway built in 1902, visitors can enjoy the beauties of Kelburn Hill and the Botanic Gardens. The gardens, established in 1869, now cover 26 hectares.

Watch out for penguins Wellington is almost certainly the only capital city in the world where penguins freely roam the streets. This encourages visitors to walk alongside them; the city centre is best experienced on foot. Visitors (and penguins) can wander through its shopping arcades, lovely cafes and, less happily, constant traffic.

Nowhere else in the country is urban life lived as intensely as in Wellington. Unique adventure tours are available along the Kapiti coast and hiking trails run all along the craggy coastline, just off the coast, the world famous bird sanctuary of Kapiti Island attracts visitors from afar.

The environs of Wellington are known for their luxurious country lifestyle. Many great estates lie inland, just over the hills. Directly north of Wellington is Hutt Valley, where visitors can arrange bush and coastal hikes, SUV trips, golfing, mountain biking and angling.

Keeping summer safe

By Mara Hernandez-Capili

Summer is the time for fun. Not just ordinary fun, it is fun under the heat of the sun. Summertime is the favourite season amongst many kids: No school, longer days, and lots of running around outdoors. School breaks for the summer and it is always the best time to plan a family get away.

For most children summer means more outdoor activities, swimming, camping, bike riding etc. For parents this is the time for being extra on guard in keeping their kids safe and healthy. Keeping the family safe is one of the major concerns summer brings.

Family safety means being alert 24/7. During the rest of the year, most kids come to emergency rooms for illness or some infective disease, but during summer, a lot more of these are unintentional injuries. There are many safety tips professionals recommend.

Staying long hours under the sun might cause sunburns and skin infections to kids. Some parents' misapprehension is that they just grease their kids up the minute they get to the pool or beach. Fact is sunscreens take effects 20 minutes after the application. A smarter approach is that you put sunscreen before leaving the house and generously apply again every 2 hours. During beach and pool stay, never be sure enough to lull around and leave the kids alone. Even the best swimmers suffer tiredness and misjudge conditions. Keep watch from a spot that is close enough for you to respond in any case of emergency.

Make sure that your kids can see you at all the time. Also, make sure kids wear reflective clothes during light out time. Most drivers do not notice kids in the streets. Bikes and scooters should have reflective appliqus for them to stay visible along the street. Summer is the time to chill out and have fun. But never forget that accidents are inevitable, it is best to keep safe at all times to not spoil the fun and spend the rest of the summer in a hospital bed.

A Learning treat for tots

By Mara Hernandez-Capili

Toddler is the second stage of life , next to infancy, it is the stage where a child starts to learn how to walk and comprehend. It is also the stage between infancy and childhood. Toddlers are very tricky; they've grown to have their own thoughts and wants. Toddling usually starts between 12 to 24 months. During this stage, a child learns great deals about social role and develops motor skills.

Speaking is the next milestone, parents are most typically aware of. During the Childs first birthday, word would automatically come out of their mouth. Little by little the child starts adding word until around 18th months when languages increase rapidly. They can learn an average of 7-9 words per day.

There are many other things that a child experience and learn during toddler stage. Most parents may not notice, but the simple action of pointing out on what the kids want is already a sign of big psychological gain. Also during toddler stage, they begin to distinguish one apart from other. They begin to know him or her as a separate physical being.

Toddler storytime is a program designed for toddlers and their caregivers. Storytime is a fun time for parents to introduce books to their kids. In storytime, toddlers are bonded with their parents for some learning activities. Activities, that helps widen the kid's language ability and imagination.

Toddler storytime is a fun learning activity; it strengthens the bond between a parent and a child. Toddlers are good imitators they can easily imitate whatever they hear and see. The more a parent exposes their kids in events like story telling the more they enrich their child learning. It's is a smart step to bring kids to educational gatherings. It does not only benefit the child, it also lessens the parents' job to teach.

The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe Theatre

By Mara Hernandez-Capili

This story had been played at various theatres and musicals all over the world. It is about an epic story between the battle between good and evil in the form of the Lion and the witch. This is probably one of the most loved children's novel of my time. The story was written by CS Lewis way back at the 1950's just as the birth of rock and roll. Between these battles the children came into play known as the children of Adam and Eve. The children played certain important roles in the winning of good versus evil. It actually had this review of biblical context between the lines of its story.

Which can actually seen to be true. The resurrection of the lion and the claiming of the witch over the traitor can be seen in biblical accounts and catechism. It is like the saving of Mankind by Jesus represented by the lion and saving us from the bonds of evil. It garnered massive popularity that up to now it is still the most loved, and well read novels of all time.

I am able to inherit my mom's fondness in reading novels. She is a certified bookworm and you can just imagine all those books that are lying in our house. I discovered this book and read it over and over again as a child I even had version of it let alone played imaginary Narnia battle with my friends. They joy of living it and playing roles with it has been part of my childhood. It was able to induced some good values in me

This coming August of 2009 Plays of this wonderful novel will be shown. Come and visit us with you family and loved one and enjoy a happy and entertaining time.

The Wiccan religion Part 1

By Mara Hernandez-Capili

This belief has not been fully accepted in today's society but this is basically because of misunderstanding. This belief is popularized by Gerald Gardner in the 1950's it is a new pagan belief that is based on the natural elements of our world. Man tends to fear anything that he does not understand.

A lot of its practices have been given a negative image by the media today, because of the movies and the old legends that have shrouded our minds regarding this. Therefore he refuses it. In an outsider's perspective the Wiccan religion is generally co notated with witchcraft, sorcery or black magic. But the latter is just a part of it. The normal view that is normally instilled in the common man is just a part of it.

It is quite interesting to study this religion. More than you know the Wiccan religion has a lot of similarities with other religion. The study itself is worth your while, the knowledge you will gain will not only help you understand the religion, but also give you a clearer view with the other beliefs.

Magic is a big part of the religion; they believers believe that when you are in true coherence with the religion you will be able to channel this power. Perhaps the element of duality is also present in its gods, the horned man or the sun that represents nature and ruler of the summer and spring is partnered with the triple goddess who represents the moon and the autumn and winter. This duality is present with the other belief like in the Buddhist religion with its element of "Yin and yang" which represents the balance between good and evil. Or the constant battle of good and evil in Catholicism which is represented by Angels and Demons.

Come and look into the Wiccan Religion. Take a glimpse and understand this new but misunderstood belief.

Experiences: Crafting

By Ian Kleine

My friend has some serious talent when it comes to making crafts out of beads and strings. She was always spending her idle time doing so, giving it to her friends, to her classmates, to her teachers, and also, even to me. How she expertly weaves her hands in and out of the threads and bobbles, and then making something simply beautiful still catches me in awe and sweet surrender to her skill. At a later point of our high school year, we became good friends and I suggested that she go try it out for our school fair. Told her that her craft is good, and I'm sure people would pay to have a bit of her work.

That was how she managed to pay off her miscellaneous fees, and how she had done her feasibility studies, all in one. Parents praised her, teachers commended her; she was set off into the beads and baubles industry soon after. And to think she started off with only thinking on how to fund her next day's supply of beads and strings. Truly amazing.

So basically, she was a starter at the school fair that time, competing with the other school clubs managed by a whole class, teacher cookouts and class driven effort; how did she top it all off?

First, research. For one thing, the people who were given the necklaces had responded favorably to it. It was a hobby right? So she had already given quite a number of the trinkets to different persons. The demography was huge. From teachers who were grandmamas, students who were barely out of puberty, mothers of the parents that came by to see where their children got the necklaces from it was a business idea waiting to be discovered.

She had a good customer base already, because she had established relations with the customers even before the said fair.

Making your Craft Work for You

By Ian Kleine

Sure, you have the tools and the finances needed to start your very own business, but what business will you start? You often hear the terms "You should do what you love and do what you do best" or "Be in the know with what you're doing, and do it for the sake of craft, and not for money". Well, let me tell you something, the world is a bit more complicated than that which can be explained by a few quotes.

With the argument of doing something you like versus it's profitability; let us take the universal truth, most people do not need trinkets and baubles. Perhaps if they have the money to spare, of if they have something they truly love; then they will spend money on it.

Unless your craft includes valued stones and gems (which are all good investments for the future), most people will not give in their money for something that would be seldom used or moderately valuable stuff. In any case, think as to the value and what your product can give to people. Educate and elucidate the use and practicality of your item in order to coax them to buy.

Belief and practicality are different. Your terms of people will buy this, is different from what actual people need. If the mass doesn't need, or doesn't like your product, don't force it. Simply look for other markets that will readily accept your products. Forcing it will merely provoke reports of unintentional harassment in their part and yours.

When you do find your calling, give it your very best, like your business depends on it. Because it does! Improve upon your trade and give people the aura that it's a good investment. And prove that it is a very good business to settle on. Create networks and socialize to enforce your craft.

Working Crafts Easily

By Ian Kleine

When you are considering going on that road to selling your crafts at a crafts fair, understand that you are taking a big step forward. Along with the associated risks, and challenges that are involved with this step. There are a lot of things to consider first, in order to systematically sell stuff, categorizes and put all things in proper order, and to mentally prepare yourself for this undertaking. Selling stuff is no easy walk in the park kiddies.

Firstly, immerse yourself in crafts fairs around your locality and even in other places. There will come a time that you will have to move your market and discover new ones and other niches as well. Attend a few fairs and see for yourself, first hand, what is happening inside.

See both juried and non-juried shows, watch how judges rate crafts, see the quality you need to reach in order to deem your craft customer-quality passed. Find out which venue is also most suited for your craft, whether indoors, a fair, or a show or even a booth. Check the pamphlet provided to see the specifications of the fair, so you wouldn't get confused later on when you make big decisions.

Do your research. Find out what the common costs are, what additional costs you might incur, your projected income, actual income from other vendors (if they are willing to disclose it), and profitability margin. Each show and craft fair will charge differently, with the normal ones usually being around 200 dollars to 300 dollars; the more expensive and exclusive ones could reach up to 500 or more. Of course, this comes with more benefits that the people that engage in these types of shows actually are willing to buy more and spend more.

Don't forget to tabulate your material costs, labor costs, permits and licenses needed, and how many of your products are you going to bring to the craft fair (because seriously, you weren't thinking of bringing them all now, would you?)

Bulgaria Attractions

By Isabella Olsen

Located between Greece and Romania, Bulgaria is an often overlooked travel destination. This is a pity, though, since there is a wealth of beautiful and interesting Bulgaria attractions.

Valley of the Thracian Kings - The valley of Kazanluk is one of the most popular Bulgaria attractions, particularly since it is the site of several burial mounds and tombs, the most famous of which is the Kazanluk Tomb. Dating back to 400 BC, the Kazanluk Tomb is known for its impressive murals. The lavishly decorated Sveshtari Tomb near Isperih is equally admirable.

Rila Monastery - Located in the northwestern Rila mountains, the Rila Monastery is the largest and most popular monastery in Bulgaria. It is well known for its gold-plated iconostasis, as well as its library of over 250 manuscripts, wood carvings and frescoes.

The Assumption Bochkava Monastery and the Rozhen Monastery are also Bulgaria attractions worth visiting. Both have spectacular iconostases, too, as well as other stunning artwork. In fact, the Assumption Bochkava Monastery has one of the oldest wood-carved iconostases in Bulgaria.

Church of Saint Sophia - Aside from its monasteries, Bulgaria has many remarkable old churches, which include the famous Church of Saint Sophia. Located in the Bulgarian capital, the three-nave domed basilica is both a religious centre and a national monument. Although not as popular, the Saint Trinity village church made entirely out of stone is also an imposing sight.

Roman Ampitheatre - Located in the city of Plovdiv, the Roman ampitheatre is not just one of the most popular Bulgaria attractions, but also a stage for numerous musical, opera and ballet performances, including the annual Verdi Festival in June. While in Plovdiv, you can also visit various art galleries, such as the Atanas Krastev House and the Philipopolis Art Gallery.

Pirin National Park - If you want to spend most of your holidays outdoors, you can head out to the Pirin National Park, which is known for its majestic peaks, sweeping valleys, diverse wildlife and excellent hiking trails. You can also go to the equally spectacular Strandzha National Park or explore the unique Belogradchik rock formations.

Black Sea Coast - If you want to soak up the sun and the sand on the beach, you can do so at one of the seaside resorts in Bulgaria. In fact, these resorts, particularly Sunny Beach, are what most tourists come to Bulgaria for. It is just one reason to visit Bulgaria, though, since, as you just learned, there are many other awesome Bulgaria attractions you should definitely see at least once in a lifetime.

Island Hopping From Tenerife

By Tom Baily

Tenerife is the biggest and most popular of the Canary Islands with thousands of visitors every year. Most people don't realise that many of the other islands can be visited from Tenerife by air and sea which means it is a great base to do some island hopping.

Most tourists fly into Tenerife South airport (Reina Sofia) and head for the resorts of Playa De Las Americas and Los Cristianos but if you are feeling adventurous and are travelling light why not take a taxi and head for the port at Los Cristianos where you can pick up the following inter-island services.

Naviera Armas (www.navieraarmas.com) operates large car ferries to La Gomera, El Hierro or La Palma.

A high speed catamaran service connects the Gomeran ports of Valle Gran Ray, Puerto Santiago and San Sebastian to Los Cristianos on Tenerife. This is run by Fred Olsen lines (www.fredolsen.es/PublicSite/FredOlsenExpress) who also have a route to La Palma (2hrs) on one of their larger vessels.

Another option is to catch a bus from the airport to Santa Cruz de Tenerife in the north of the island. From here you can jump on a ferry to Lanzarote, El Hierro, La Palma, Fuertoventura or Gran Canaria. These services are run by Naviera Armas and they also have routes to Madeira and Portugal. In addition, Gran Canaria can be reached by a catamaran service which is run by Fred Olsen.

From the hedonistic resorts of southern Tenerife to the spectacular Cumbre Vieja on La Palma. Or the lunar landscapes of Lanzarote to the sub-tropical rainforest of La Gomera. These are just some of the places to visit in the Canaries and island hopping by sea or air is a great way to do it.

Another bonus when you island hop around the Canaries is the magnificent scenery. Tenerife's Mount Tiede rises to 16,000ft above sea level and is often snow capped in winter - take your camera! Keep your eyes open for schools of dolphins which are plentyful in the seas around this area and you may even be lucky enough to spot a pod of Pilot whales.

Binter Canarias (www.bintercanarias.com) operate scheduled flights between the islands and for those of a weak disposition to the sea this is a great alternative to catching a boat.

From Career to Show

By Ian Kleine

So there comes a time in your mid-life crisis when you start questioning what your life is all about and where you are heading onwards. Did you do everything you have to do in this time of life? Are you enjoying every single day like it will be your last? Can you honestly say that you are satisfied and fulfilled with what your current career has to offer?

Millions of people would probably answer no. And it is not as if they can be picky about it. With the current depression and the broken economy, more people are actually being laid-off from their jobs.

With this kind of atmosphere, the best thing to probably do is to find ways to make money. and not the type where you have to be in a a successful career to earn loads of moolah. And that's where selling at shows come into the picture.

One, deduce that you are serious in this life-changing decision. If you have a family, talk it over with the persons that matter and would be affected by this decision. In any case, they could help you with this big project. Just make sure that you at least get their support in any case. Having your family's support is a good way to jump start.

Two, profitability is key. I'm sure that you would have a few good hobbies you indulge in. Think of the first one that you assume would rake in good money, EVEN if it isn't as much as enjoyable as the first one. Do research on the topic, how to improve your craft to consumer-levels, etc. A rule of thumb is to at least have a good amount of capital before indulging in your wants rather than your needs.

Three, research on the shows you would be joining. As much as possible, start with non-juried shows so you can get a good feel of when your work makes the cut for consumers or not. When you feel confident, go with juried shows. Gain experience, gain exposure, and I am pretty sure you will succeed.

And again, do not rush into things. Shift when you have good financial backing, when you have pension, or when you have an auxiliary income to depend on when things don't work out. Filling Up Your Crafts With Cultural Value

By Rick Amorey

One of the biggest factors that make people buy things in craft shows is because they are tourists in the area. They understandably want to have a physical object that will help them remember the place they went to once they're back home. Therefore, it is a good idea for any craftsperson to check the location of the next show, and let his or her works be influenced by the culture of the place. If you attend craft shows and you grew up in the area, this wouldn't be too much of a problem. But what if you are a visitor here, too?

If you are not from the area where the craft show is held, then chances are you will not have a direct affinity with the culture of the place. But this can be developed over time. Check out the works of your fellow craftspeople attending the event, and try to make friends with them. Getting close to some of them will rub off on you, and you may start to exude some of their culture over time.

That won't do the trick by itself, of course. The only way to understand the culture of a place is to spend some time in it. Don't hole yourself up in your booth for the duration of your stay. Explore the place in its entirety; have a short break, and look for interesting things that you can do there. You'll be surprised at how quickly you'll pick up a few things.

When everything has been said and done, you'll have to go "back to the lab" and try to integrate their culture with your own unique signature. Don't try to lose your identity in the process! Let your techniques be influenced, but don't try to outright copy the feel of the crafts that came from that culture.

Finally, it is important to remind you to not force anything. Don't be too alarmed if your piece ends up without the feel that you wanted it to have for that culture; if you force it in, you may end up with an object that doesn't have a personal feel. To me, the soul of an item is important, and you just can't have a soul of the object itself is forced.
