The Importance Of Keeping Hankook Tires At The Proper Pressure

By Dalila C. Helton

Once you have purchased your new Hankook tires and have had them installed, you may be tempted to think that you are done with maintenance for some time since your tires are now brand new. This manner of thinking about your tires is not a wise idea. You actually need to do a couple of things each week or month to make sure that your tires can continue to provide you with maximum performance.

Your Hankook tires should be reviewed on a daily basis, or each time you drive your car. Your inspection will be to estimate to tire pressure. If they appear low, then you need to confirm the pressures and air them up accordingly. Sometimes it can be hard to tell if your tires are low just by looking at them, but you can frequently tell if your tires are low if you lose a little bit of handling control while driving.

Checking tire pressure routintely is actually crucial for a number of reasons. Primarily, tire pressure is imperative because it is essential in providing top quality handing. Additionally, your tires can help stabilize your fuel efficiency. When your tires are aired up, they are better able to coast, which in turn mimimizes the need to accelerate using the engine. All of this indicates a decrease in the amount of fuel you use versus the times when your tires are a little low on pressure.

Another purpose for maintaining the proper air pressure in your Hankook tires is for durability. Low pressure in your tires often results in tread wear that is not even. The effects of uneven tread wear can be many and you probably will not like any of them. A major result of uneven tread wearing is the need to prematurely replace your tires, meaning that you will not get all of your money out of them.

One more result of uneven tread wear is the decrease in stability and handling. You may begin to notice a slight shimmy in the wheel or you may not be able to corner like usual. It will not take you much time to perform this simple upkeep activity throughout the week. Essentially, you should spend less than 5 minutes total weekly doing this. Ultimately, you will just start checking your tire pressure without thinking about it since it will become second nature.
