Take a Ride On The Kuranda Skyrail

By Anton Maverick

If your on a campervan hire australia trip holidaying in or around Cairns in Australia, you need to exploit the opportunity to take a ride on the Kuranda Skyrail. It's an experience that has the WOW factor as you'll be able to see from far above the Kuranda range rainforest down to the cane fields on the flat below as well as out across the ocean to the end of the horizon.

You can set off from the Smithfield terminal and have some light refreshment or browse the well equipped shops before boarding your glassed in bubble which may take you up into the clouds. The Skyrail ascends over the treetops, giving you a view you aren't likely to see any place else in the world.

Around half way up, the Skyrail stops for a break and you're able to land and stretch your legs. Included in the trip is a nature walk thru the rainforest with a guide to clarify what you are looking at. It is actually interesting and tons of information is available about the local animal and plant life.

Back aboard the Skyrail, you head back above the treetops again to finish the trip to Kuranda. It actually is a fabulous vista below and the rainforest looks very different from above, as compared to walking thru it below. Even the clouds are attractive when you are sitting right in the middle of them.

When you arrive in Kuranda, you can ramble about and explore the hamlet and markets before the return trip. An alternative return trip and equally as surprising, is to go by train back down the range. This will bring you into walking distance to the Barron Stream Falls which are spectacular to say the least. Which ever route you choose, it is a world class vista which should stay in your mind for a considerable time.
