Tenby Is A Lovely Sea-side Resort In Pembrokeshire County

Tenby, a beautiful Welsh sea-side resort town, is located in Pembrokeshire county on the south coast.

With a multitude of attractive Georgian and Victorian buildings, Tenby sits above a picturesque Carmarthen bay harbor, surrounded by marvelous golden sand beaches.

Renowned the world over for its natural beauty, Tenby used to be a fishing village, but tourism is now its main industry.

It is a charming village and one of the most attractive and popular tourist destinations throughout the United Kingdom. Famous award winner for its beautiful sandy beaches, clean seas and stunning scenery.

It is a much loved seaside holiday destination resort providing fun and relaxation to visitors all year round of all ages, with tourists coming from all over Britain and beyond.

The active fishing port is engorged with vessels transferring people to the famous Cistercian monastery on Caldey Island or carrying families to fishing and seal watching trips, organized daily.

Tenby is surrounded by an imposing wall of stone from the 13th century, built to keep the Welsh out. Its history goes back beyond the time of the Norman Conquest and the walled city still retains traces of its many aged historical qualities. Many of the original walls do remain, about the fantastic medieval city behind them.

This beautiful town features a maze of quaint cobbled streets that are host to an almost unlimited variety of fantastic restaurants, shops and pubs.

Tenby is situated on the western tip of England, Wales, set in the lovely Pembrokeshire National Park. This is really the only national park on the coast in Britain and has about 170 miles of trails, which is extremely popular among hikers. There is a wonderful richness of wildlife species for the walkers to enjoy.

The scenery is spectacular, with sandy beaches, rugged cliffs and wild inland hills filled with plants and animals.

Tenby is Pembrokeshire's main holiday resort with the main features being its beaches. The resort of Tenby consists of four beaches: North Beach, Harbor Beach, Castle Beach and South Beach.

Among the many activities in Tenby are the special events held around the year. Some of these would include the Firemen's Carnival and Pembrokeshire Fish Festival. Other favorites are the St. Margaret's Fair and the sailing regattas. Sand sculpture contests and French markets can be seen during the summer months and Winter carnivals take place in the month of December.
