Offshore oil rigs are self-sufficient entities and are often out at sea for 14 to 21 days at a time. During that time they need cooks, nurses, doctors and maintenance crew, as well as, mechanics, painters, engineers and foreman.

You might still enjoy working on an oil rig, even if you think it isn't for you. People who work on rigs get to travel while making money. There are oil rigs right by Africa, China, Russia, Saudi Arabia, the United Kingdom, Mexico, Canada, and the United States.
