Machu Picchu & Galapagos Tours For Adventure And Spiritual Quests

By Cody Gardella

Machu Picchu is perhaps the most important and well preserved archaeological site left by the Inca tribe. There are different methods of visiting. One can do one of many Inca trail hikes or visit from Cuzco, Galapagos or Lima. The best Machu Picchu tours will include plenty of time for tourists to spend at the site when there are no crowds there and solitary viewing can be done.

The Inca tribe's skill with masonry is displayed overtly at the ruins. A credit card can't be inserted between the stones because they're packed together so closely. It's aesthetically amazing but it's most dominant aspect is how it has remained in tact through centuries of earthquakes. It was originally created on top of two fault lines and is said to move with the quakes and then return to its original formation afterwards.

It's believed that most of this site is beneath the earth. Its foundations and drainage systems are highly complex and are said to have been built from crushed rock. This ruin can be costly to visit, particularly for those who are taking a day trip there. However, there is a steep path along Hiram Binghams 1911 route that has wonderful views of it for free.

Tour packages often organize for guests to stay at a lodge overnight after reaching the area so that they have a chance to return there the next day for a more solitary viewing. A tour package that includes the ruin will also bring the cost down significantly. There are no informative signs at the site but there is a museum few know about close by. It can be reached by traveling half an hour from Aguas Calientes.

Galapagos is fascinating in a different way. The series of islands provides a range of habitats for the fauna and flora in the area. They are all important ecological sites with their own histories.

The shores of many of the islands are heavily populated with marine Iguanas. When Darwin visited them, he named them 'imps of darkness' because he found them so ugly. They're the only oceanic lizards in the world and this fact helped Darwin develop his theory of evolution. He theorized that the lizards had adapted to their oceanic environment, which was an important beginning for this later writings.

It's often best to view the area on cruise ships due to the high number of islands. Naturalists are often provided to tell visitors about the wildlife in each ecosystem. The cluster is geologically young and forms one of the most active volcanic areas around the globe. Fifty eruptions have shaken them over the last two hundred years. They have left some interesting consequences for tourists to see.

The volcanic activity has created a harsh landscape on some of the islands. Only one of them, however, appears to be noticeably absent of animals. The other local creatures show fascinating adaptations to the desolation. Some of the optimal scuba spots are in Galapagos' seas. The best Machu Picchu tours should always feature some time visiting these interesting and gorgeous areas luxuriously.
