Less Popular But Still Useful Rio De Janeiro Brazil Tourism Activities

By Tamares Oliveira

The Urca location is a treasure, can certainly be visited in 1/2 a day and can be mixed with viewing Sugarloaf and/or Praia Vermelha. Don't pass-up the ability to get away from the commonly populated and busy beach areas and spend time with the local people in this rather safe, quaint, plus upscale location.

Several magnificent and pristine beaches are situated inside of an hour drive down the coast from Rio. They are generally empty throughout the weekdays and offer a tranquil break from the frenzied city lifestyle. Barra da Tijuca, Recreio de Bandeirantes, Prainha and Grumari tend to be the most accessible beaches. If you do not want to rent a car to make the day time trip, then ride the low-priced Surf Bus which makes a number of stops at hotels and apartments along both Ipanema and Copacabana beaches.

Morro do Leme (Leme Mountain) is a Rio de Janeiro sightseeing and tour urban forest that stands several hundred feet tall and it is situated at the end of Leme and Copacabana Beach. You may walk out about the base of it over the paved footpath to see the fishermen and also to look back at Copacabana Beach. The real treat is to enter in the military and protected environmental area and walk up the winding cobble rock road through the Mata Atlantica (Atlantic Coastal rain forest) up to the old Forte do Leme. From the top you are offered unblocked views of a Sugar Loaf as well as Copacabana Beach. Along the route and at the peak, you'll find groups of small monkeys in the trees.

Forte de Copacabana makes for a hassle-free Rio de Janeiro sightseeing afternoon if you want to take in a little military historical past during holiday and if you love seeing cannons and a solidified bunker. It can be a quick walk from anywhere in Copacabana and inside the Fort you'll have several good photograph opportunities. The sights down and up the coast are wonderful.

Parque Lage was formerly a independently owned mansion that included a comprehensive exotic forest with modest ponds linked by water ways plus foot bridges. It is currently a film and arts school and features a variety of ethnic functions in the old estate. This Rio de Janeiro sightseeing activity is set in a park positioned behind the Lagoa and rests at the foot of Corcovado mountain. It also offers a starting point for demanding guided walks up Corcovado to Christ the Redeemer Statute.

The Lagoa Rodrigo de Freitas is more popularly known as the "Lagoa". It's among the more favorite Rio de Janeiro sightseeing outdoors recreation areas, but is frequently missed by the international tourist. It is a good sized salt water lagoon which is positioned immediately behind the Ipanema community. It is actually encompassed by the elegant neighborhoods of Lagoa, Leblon, and Gavea.
