Queensland Holidays
Looking for the perfect beach holiday in Australia? Or perhaps you are seeking lots of sunshine? Queensland is THE Australian holiday destination and is known by the locals as the Sunshine State.
Did you know that Queensland is the second largest state in Australia and the third most populated. With an impressive coastline and beautiful beaches, its no wonder the locals flock here in their droves for their holidays.
Choosing where exactly to go in Queensland can be tricky as there really is so much to choose from. There are however some watch outs. Queensland can be split into North Queensland and the rest. The north is often referred to as Tropical Queensland and this area is best frequented between May and October. Outside of this time could mean very hot humid temperatures and lots of rain.
You can visit the rest of Queensland throughout the year although winter is still a bit cold for the beach. Spring and Autumn are particularly good as summer can be a little too hot.
Planning a trip to Queensland can be daunting given its size. If you are planning a long trip then spend a month on a road trip between Cairns and Sydney, or even drive onto Melbourne. This trip takes in the entire coast of Queensland and New South Wales and has something to please everyone.
If you still like the idea of a road trip but don't have that much time, how about starting at Noosa and finishing in Sydney. Noosa is a great spot on the Sunshine Coast not too far from Brisbane. It means you can experience city and beach life very easily.
The most popular destinations for a Queensland holiday are Brisbane,The Gold Coast, The Sunshine Coast, The Whitsundays and of course Cairns for the Great Barrier Reef. The last two are best visited between May and October but you can go outside of these times. Just expect some rain and humid conditions. A road trip might not be your thing. It's easy to hop on a plane from any of the major Australian cities up to some of the best destinations in Queensland.
If you want to combine beauty with adventure then head for Fraser Island. This amazing sand island allows 4 wheel driving along sandy paths and beaches. For the best experience, consider camping overnight on the beach. A great way to get back to nature.
As well as the great beaches and coastline, Queensland is infamous for the Great Barrier Reef. You can't come to Australia without experiencing this enchanted world under the sea. The best access point is Cairns as this is where the large boats can take you out to the reef. Take my advice, stay in Port Douglas or the small but idyllic Palm Cove, instead of the rather industrial Cairns.
Whatever type of holiday you are looking for Queensland has it all. Beautiful beaches, vibrant cities and idyllic townships.
