Copacabana In Brazil: A Paradise On Earth That Offers Sun Sambas And Many Wonders

Copacabana in Brazil stretches along a four kilometer beach of golden sand and blue seas. Everyone who visits there immediately falls in love with the district and all its delightful treasures. Annually people from around the world head to this southern section of Rio de Janeiro in Brazil to revel in the numerous festivities and to enjoy the dancing the samba and basking in sunshine.

Comprising only just over 7km it is however densely populated with locals and more than 10 hotels and 63 hotels scattered along the promenade overlooking the ocean and further inland. Residential accommodation is made up of multi-storey buildings of between 11 and 13 floors and houses or double storey buildings are a rare sight. Copacabana is earmarked to be one of the four host zones for Summer Olympics 2016.

The district has a history dating back to the 1500s and has seen many conquerors come and go. Littered with numerous famous landmarks one of which is the Copacabana Palace Hotel built in 1923. This unique hotel has hosted and feted international celebrities, the world's rich and royalty.

Four subway Metro stations and over 40 bus routes give quick easy excessive to this preferred Rio district. The unique four kilometer Promenade with its distinctive black and white geometric Portuguese wave design was started in the 1930s and completed in 1970.

This is a place where a person can spend 24/7 exploring the many exciting historical heritage sites. Alternatively they can spend their days swimming and tanning on the sparkling sea sand watching the gorgeous body parade. For nature lovers a visit to the botanical garden to view the unique and extraordinary flora is a must. Famous other places to visit include the Fort, the Christ the Redeemer Statue and Sugarloaf Mountain.

Sugarloaf Mountain has been around for more than 600 million years and has always been a natural navigational sighting for sailors and airmen alike. The peak upon which the Christ the Redeemer Statue stands has for centuries been given a variety of names. In the 15th century it was named The Pinnacle of Temptation and in 1859 the proposal was made to erect a statue on it. Eventually the world's second largest Art Deco statue, Christ the Redeemer was unveiled. This dramatic first sight of Rio has been a welcoming beacon since 1931.

The nightlife is fabulous especially at festival times. The throbbing samba beat which transforms the streets soon leads to strangers becoming friends. Restaurants and sidewalk bistros abound and have something for all tastes and budgets. The district has learnt to combine catering for the rich with flair and panache whilst giving backpackers affordable meals and comfortable cheap accommodation.
