Luxemburg - Going Abroad With A Brand New Passport

By Ben Pate

Luxembourg is one of those countries that gets lost in a sea of bigger more prominent European countries. However, it is known as being one of the richest nations in the world, and in addition to being the smallest country in Europe it is also one of the safest. If you're thinking of traveling to Europe, but want something a bit different, grab your passport or if you need a new passport go online and fill out a pass port application form and you will be ready to visit the luxurious Luxemburg.

International Travel

It is required of all American citizens that they possess a valid United States passport if they are going to be eligible for international travel. Once you have filled out a passport application, you should receive your new passport in a few short weeks. It is important to start the application process early, however, as you do not want to be scrambling around at the last minute trying to get your passport affairs in order before your trip. The best way to make sure your passport needs are taken care of before you travel is by applying for a new American passport months in advance of your international vacation.

Luxemburg

Luxemburg is a very small country in Europe that neighbors Germany, Belgium and France. In fact, the entire country is only about 1,000 square miles in size. It is home to roughly 450,000 citizens and is a very friendly place for Americans to visit. About a third of the total population of Luxembourg is foreign residents, most living near the capital Luxemburg City.

Luxemburg is a wonderful country and is unique in many different ways. They have a representative democracy in conjunction with a functioning monarchy. Also, they are the only sovereign grand duchy in the entire world. This is known as the Grand Duchy of Luxemburg. Another fact about the country that many people might not expect is the fact that Luxemburg has the highest, per capita, GDP in the world.

Attractions

Although only a nation of about 1,000 miles there are still plenty of sites to see while visiting Luxembourg. With history museums and nature there is something for everyone in the delightful country. Take a tour of the National Museum of Military History or go ahead and take the Wenzel Walk. The Wenzel Walk is a journey through some of the oldest parts of the city of Luxembourg. Some of the older sections were actually declared UNESCO World Heritage Sites. In addition to these fantastic sites you will so view the Bock Promontory and the Castle Bridge, which was built in 1735 from red sandstone. You may also see the Church of St. Ulric, the oldest parish church in the city. This is definitely a great adventure, as you walk through 1,000 years of history in around 100minutes.
