Do You Have Faith In Those Quick Oil Change Places?

By Brian Q. Arkwright

A lot of people take their car to these oil change shops as they don't know how to or don't have time to do it themselves. The uncertainty is can these folks be dependable. Listed here my goal is to explain to you why you should avoid these shops at all costs and find yourself a regular mechanic who is honest to do the work for you. Or better yet, Rent a Limo.

I'm really sure you are aware that every car has certain recommendations about when certain services should be done. Things like oil changes, air filter changes and other regularly scheduled maintenance. But have you by chance really looked through the book on your car? I do know for certain that your engine oil does not even need to be changed every 3000 miles much like these quick oil change places will tell you. If you read your manual, you are going to know that your oil should be changed every 6000 to 7000 miles. So generally these oil change shops are lying to you about that.

If you look at the owner's manual, you should also see at what time you should get the air filters changed. For my vehicle, it is suggested that the air filters get switched out every two years or when it is clogged up. I have actually used the old air filter for 4 years and it still looked as good as new but at that point I changed it anyway. And yet, anytime I would pay a visit to these quick oil change places, they'd frequently tell me I would need a new air filter. At one point I went out and replaced my air filter and 6 months afterwards I went to an oil change place and they told me I needed a new air filter. This air filter was slightly tarnished so they insisted it was beginning to clog. However, I told them that I swapped out the filter merely six months ago and their answer was that I would need to change it in another six months.

What bothered me was that they initially informed me that the filter had to be changed. Consequently once I told them about the new air filter, they changed their response. It simply shows how very, very terrible and dishonest these people who are employed at these oil change places are.

There's once where they changed my transmission fluid. Just about every time you visit these places, they will explain how your transmission fluid will also need to be changed. One time, when they informed me, I allowed them to do it. And then roughly 3 months later when I went once more for an oil change they told me my transmission fluid was dirty and needed to be changed. There after, I never went to these businesses again.

Since that time, I have found an auto mechanic who is trustworthy that can work on my car. Truth be told, many of these folks who work at the quick oil change places have never had any education in fixing cars. Whereas a licensed mechanic has gotten the proper education.
